In order to improve server performance, we are announcing an upcoming purge of all threads in the Free Form Roleplaying forum where the last post was earlier than December 31st, 2006. The purge is expected on or shortly after February 1st, 2009.

If there is a thread that is a direct predecessor to an existing active thread--i.e. where plot directly continues from one thread to another--you may request that it be preserved by posting a link to it in this thread. Please do not request threads that have already been posted by someone else; this isn't a "vote to keep" situation.

If there is any thread where you wish to retain the information, we suggest you copy the relevant portions to your hard drive. Note however that this is NOT an excuse to bump old threads in order to keep them from being deleted; any Thread Necromancy between now and the purging will earn an infraction.

I think the main contributers to the "LAW" series of threads would like to preserve this thread: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70317

Edit: Oh, earlier than Dec. 31 2006, never mind.

I know a few people, including myself, have been busy since this announcement, trying hard to save all the old Town threads from way back then. They hold a lot of sentimental value to many of us, and some of us even use them for reference still.

I don't know exactly how well the effort has gone for the others, but I think it is safe to say that we haven't been able to save everything, and time is running out. I thus have a request, which I hope and think is very reasonable.

When you go about deleting all these threads, can you please make a backup of the data and email it to me or otherwise release it? Just the thread/post data, no user data or anything private of that sort, naturally. A simple SQL database dump should (I hope and presume) be a simple matter, and would allow us to keep all the data without stressing to save everything here in the last hour.

It would mean a lot to me, and I know others as well.

Will you please save the stickied Welcome to the Town (please read) (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28740) Thread for future use in this forum?
