I think thatís the right Roman Numeral, correct me if Iím wrong.

Welcome to the 19th ABR Discussion Thread!

Because we used to burn through new ABR threads so quickly, we created the Discussion thread. All banter goes here, and all comics and non-canon kills go in the main thread. (see line below)

Avatar Battle Royale: We All Live in A Yellow Citadel (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=88925) is the current thread. Post artwork here.

The ABR backup thread (http://z15.invisionfree.com/Remember/index.php?showtopic=161), used in the event of Giantitp becoming untenable due to server issues or otherwise.

Also I vote for using FAIL

What compromise?
And I'm arguing because I'd prefer to have the issue resolved without having to completely ignore your 'arguments'. Clearly, that isn't an option. So far, it's a tie anyways, so you guys will just have to let it go for now. :smallannoyed:

I said that we can use another name, but not a silly acronym.
"The Faild" is even better then "FAIL". It doesn't sound official that way.
It actually sounds like a nick name sort of thing.
"The Terrorists"
"Igons army"
"The Fallen"
"The Evil Ones"

I dunno.

Use FAIL: 3
Not use Fail: 4

Why is there a vote for using FAIL ? I thought we all agreed to make it the name of a fictional organisation closely modelled on the resistance in some kind of telescreen series.

EDIT: You got the Roman number wrong, it's XIX, not XVIX.

Which is occasionally used by the public when they refer to ALF, yes.

But Nameless and others have are dead set against using the name at all, and so have called a vote.

I thought the vote was about whether people in real life called ALF FAIL because of a TV show (doesn't sound likely), not whether the show had a joke name. You could call the one in the show IKLEBOOGYCKINS and it wouldn't really matter.

@Tiff: Rain would really suck up here. The snowbanks are nearly a meter and a half high, and last time it rained everything turned to ice.

The vote is between using FAIL as a euphemism for ALF because of a TV show, and not having FAIL in ABR at all. That's what Nameless proposed, and we went along with it.

So why can't we just keep it in the TV show and not have normal people call ALF FAIL. Why is it either "No FAIL at all" or "Citizens call ALF FAIL". Where is the mid ground?

Well, considering that the original idea was "Everyone calls ALF FAIL as a joke", this is the mid-ground. And this vote was Nameless's suggestion, he's trying to force people who don't want FAIL in common use into his "kick it out for good" camp.

I say we vote/decide who makes the next comic where the flying team reach the shades and battle them, then who shall make the final comic.

No offence, but that's quite a stupid idea. I know ABR has changed a lot since the first ever thread but chosing who makes every single comic is just getting silly.

Also, I'm fed up with people saying the plots going too slow or someone should make a comic because if your that fussed about it why don't you just make one yourself.

Is FFF just going to end after we beat the Shades? Because that would be kinda dumb. If our assorted heros know there are 2 powerful enemies, the Shades and Ins, why only kill one then timeskip? Wouldn't it make more sense to kill the Shades, then everyone go try and kill Ins, epic failure, (or win if we don't like F1 anymore :smalltongue:) then the timeskip?

And someone make a comic with the mass fly guys already! Chriky has a point, don't vote who makes it, just make it! (the only reason I'm not making one is because I'm not in that group, I don't have the templates, and I'm not sure who's flying and who's not)

We're going to beat the Shades, and then notice that the UNA has been formed while our backs were turned. Then Igon vows to stop Ins's foul plan, forms ALF, and cue timeskip.

I've got two things to say.

Firstly I thought only a small group of main characters and people who have a particularly good reason would be fighting the big bad shades, but now it seems everyone is attacking them.

Secondly I have a new character for FI

http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff266/Hpandy_Johnston/Chriky/ficharacter.png

Josh Curshaw, 16, Human
Josh is an orphan who has been looked after by UNA for most of his life. His parents were big supporters of the resistance and when he was 5 they parents were murdered by UNA for looking after a high-ranking member of the resistance. Josh was oblivious to his parents working with the resistance and when he was told the resistance killed his parents he didn't think otherwise. When he turned 16 he was immediately accepted as a trainee peacekeeper and is currently half way through being trained by tiffanie's character. (I can't find what she's called).

We're not useing niether, ALF will deffinetly be used, FAIL is just another name given to it which some of us don't want to use.

Vampire Rot, Yeril's Black Knight, Falgorn, Skimmer, and Malfunctioned are on the ground outside the hive. Nameless and Keveak are on the ground floor of the hive fighting minions. I don't see why we can't just use one of the other names I suggested or something similar that's not an acronym.

Okay, I'm gonna make a few things clear:
The name started as a joke, where the hero in that show said to the wicked Igon Minoblendy something like 'Your organization isn't a success, pal. It's a FAILure'. A bunch of people thought it was kinda funny, and so started referring to the ALF as FAIL. It isn't universal, but it is used occasionally. Especially in jokes.
So that is why it needs to be that name, because otherwise it never would have originated.
/\Neither am I. I'm going to help Nameless and Kev.

Okay, let's make a comparison, alright?
Now, for this comparison, let's go back to the Revolutionary War of America. Around the beginning. Now, the British are very annoyed with us, but don't see us as much of a threat, because they vastly outnumber us and have tons of Sovice chips. :smallwink:
It is perfectly possible that some British folk referred to the rebels by an insulting name. SOME, not ALL, but it is possible that they would mock them. Possibly mocking us in a way related to Yankee Doodle, or something. I'm not good with history. But my point still stands. If they don't see us as a terrible threat, more as an annoyance, they might call us 'FAIL'. Especially if it came from a popular TV show.

True, but the difference is is that those are two countries against one another, it was good for moral.
This is a nation against a terrorist group. I don't have to give you examples of terrorist groups, and do we have a popular joke about them? Or a joke name for any of them?

Most of them in the past have been sold into slavery or killed. History has not been kind to Grays. They stop aging at that age, but aren't immortal. They die at age 999 precisely. In addition, most grays tend to... mate with other races. The offspring of Gray usually resemble their non-gray parent more, as the genes of grays aren't very dominant.

They went to Henneth AnnŻn, but I think you're thinking of Osgiliath. They decided that Frodo and Sam needed more opposition in their quest, primarily to delay then, and make the film flow better. David Wenham (who played Faramir) said that the book version was "dramatically dead"

Yeah, it was almost as lame as the whole thing with Frodo leaving Sam. It wasn't even that good a scene, either. The worst crime, however, of the movies was Legolas. He is invincible. He never even got a scratch, because he was their 'awesome super smart pretty boy'. Orlando Bloom ruined that movie. They should have just sent him up against Sauron, because he was unhurtable. Ummm...where the hell would they come from, if you don't mind me asking? The ALF is a group of evil, rather insane terrorists, home to wicked criminals like Igon Minoblendy and that mage guy who has been known to help the mass-murderer Vampire What's-His-Name! Why would they help? The ALF can't even pay!

ALF are only evil in the UNA's eyes. Good and evil are only concepts in which everyone interprets their own way.
The ALF are basically a group of people who don't agree with the UNA's plans, Igon isnít Evil, Nameless isnít evil.
The army are otherís much like the main members of the ALF who also disagree with the UNA's plans, so they joined the ALF and got a nice shiny uniform.

If it is as you say, and the ALF is just a small group of outlaws, how on earth will they stand against a nation?
If they have a small orginised army by their side to help them out, it might give them a realistic chance.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia - People's Army are a terrorist organisation and have an army. I consider the resistance to be a bit like that, but on an international scale. The resistance has the quite large army of the Schizian Front on their side and the moderately sized army of the New Alphantican Front, in addition to allies in Alphantica.

Given the very powerful Diviner in the ALF, they might suspect something, but I would think that the Ghosts of Illusion and Abjuration (and maybe Enchantment)would protect it pretty well and make it difficult to be sure about much except that clearly the media is somewhat controlled.

The Exersus Resistance is gone, yes, because their goal was completed following the Age of Dragons and the Battle of the Palace.

Exersus, the secret global organisation, has been keeping political affairs as balanced as possible for over five centuries afterwards. They also safeguard a lot of potential threats to national-and-greater safety.

Good point, thinking 'bout it, and I say I that I must agree. If "FAIL" is being used as something to lighten the mood, instead of an actual name, I say that it makes sense. I like the GOTMILK? Too. :smallwink:

& Yankee Doodle was orginally an insult to the Americans.
And what's the opposite of a ninja? A guard? A drunk? An American?!?!

@Crimson:...I don't think thats quite appropriate for a 12 year old, but what the heck, it was funny. And then kinda lost it around the sex jokes. And then just started to drag on and reuse the same joke over and over again.

I was working on my templates and when I went to make chricky's, I was using MM's comic. When I zoomed in, he didn't have the dragon scar lookin thing, but me and him had acne. Why? :smalleek: :smallconfused:

I don't know why I didn't have the scar however it's just like Firedrakes's but a bit lighter. I'm not sure what those pink dots are but if they're acne it would be because ne views us as younger characters because of how we look and the way we act. But just for the reference Chriky is in his mid to late 20's in FFF1.

Actually its Ronald McDonald.

I've seen Ronald McDonald do some pretty ninja stuff, like give the "Illusion" that McDonalds is healthy. And he has poisoned our youth. And lastly, Ronald has been caught playing Assassain's Creed on the 360.

Living in Ontario, I don't really see a one dominant accent in all the diverse kinds of people. There are all KINDS of accents, see?

I've never actually heard "eh" used in a sentence by a Canadian other then for making fun of other countries' view of Canadians.

It varies by region but personally I think a Canadian accent sounds like a much softer USAire accent, in many instances with just a hint of British.

I can't tell. I think Americans speak kinda funny, but thats because I'm used to a canadian accent. There is no "Eh?" and no "buddy". And we don't talk like Alaskans.

@Fal: Thats because clowns are such the opposite of ninjas that to the untrained they look about the same, but are actually opposites just using the same methods. Its also because clowns are so sneaky they snuck to the other end of the ninjaness scale and no one noticed. :smalltongue:

No, thats wasn't it. I think it was the killing of little girl's cute and fluffy pets, zombifying the cute, fluffy, and dead pets, and then making the zombie cute and fluffy pets attack the little girl. It was fun (I distinctly remember cackling maniacally).
