Part II (http://www.cinematical.com/photos/frank-millers-charlie-brown/1419749/)

I can't decide if this is horribly wrong or horribly right.

Thoughts?

This is a poor imitation of Frank Miller. It doesn't have a single mention of prostitution.

Hysterical, but I agree some mention of Lucy being a hooker would have made it a perfect imitation of Miller's style.

Agreed. Still funny, though.

Somehow original Peanuts was darker and more depressing, though. Not literally darker, obviously.

Still hilarious though.

He didn't say she wasn't though.

When Frank Miller is concerned, one should assume prostitutes until the lack of prostitutes has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Where Frank Miller is concerned the lack of prostitutes will never be beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I just assumed Sally was a lady of the night.

Whether or not Sally is a whore doesn't matter. It's clear that Charlie thinks of her as one.

I personally would like to see "Deadly Little Marcy" in a comic. :smalltongue:

S'ok. But it's no Weapon Brown (http://www.whatisdeepfried.com/2008/04/07/weapon-brown-1/). :smallcool:

That said: "The Little Red-haired Girl. She grew up. She filled out..."

I archive binged my way through this after you linked to it... that's some crazy stuff there... I love how he worked in so many homages to other comics. The absence of Peanuts characters beyond Chuck and Snoopy is a bit glaring, but I understand from some of the references on the site that there was a (print only, perhaps?) earlier story which may have involved them (and probably, given the nature of Weapon Brown, killed most/all of them, leading to the current story's lack of Peanuts characters).

I'm surprised that those comics haven't been shut down for copyright infringement.

Parody is legally protected, at least to some extent, and both are careful not to directly use any original names. On top of that, Schulz City appears to be just two pages of non-commercial fanart. Weapon Brown, since it's actually sold and it draws from (and has the potential to anger the creators of) so many different comics, is on much shakier ground, but I don't think it has completely crossed any lines yet.

Granted, some Family Circle parody sites have been shut down, but those have been sites that have actually altered original strips, which are much less defensible than these, which are creating new material using characters that just so happen to be similar to Peanuts characters. I'm pretty sure even in the infamous Penny Arcade Strawberry Shortcake thing PA's concession was less about not having the right to do what they did and more about not wanting to expend the time and money necessary to fight about it.

Wow... why haven't I seen this in Heavy Metal, it's pretty much straight up their alley.
