Narrators - Atreyu the Masked Llama and Supagoof
Start date - 4/1/2009

Last time, we decided to give everyone a role.
This time, we decided for everyone to pick their role.

That’s right. You want to be a seer, you can choose to be a seer.

However, in order to make this work right, we will have specifications on the roles. After everyone has picked the role, the teams will be decided at random.

So read through the list, and choose, but choose carefully!

ROLES

Careless Baner – This role can only bane other people. They can’t bane themselves!
Seer/Fool – This role can discover someone’s role by sending in a PM at night. Are they truly the seer, or are they just fooling themselves. A coin flip gives you your true power when selecting this role. Scry interference is in effect.
Voider – This role can cause someone’s power to not work until the next night phase by selecting them during the current night phase.
Disguiser – This role can cause themselves or another to look like a different role/team at night.
Mayor – This role’s point during the day counts as 3.
Howard, the ? – Of course the zany antics of this space duck would come back, but this time it might be for any team. This role can cause someone to not be lynched by pointing at them during the day phase. Though like the careless baner, they can't point themselves.
Assassin – This role can kill someone the next night by hiding that person’s name during their day post (and by post, I mean not in their avatar, not sig, not location, just the parts where you put the text into when you click that reply button). Assassin's will have to inform narrators of where they hid their kill.
VorteXer – Ceika created some X-Llamas, so we made an X role. This role can cause all points at one player to be deflected to another player via sending two names at night. The players are individually told if points for them are on being “vortexed”, but not if they are on the "sending" or "receiving" end.
Beast - Well, Llama's are beasts of burden, so this guy will take someone down with them when they go.
Mason - Yep.
I'll take my chances! - Can't decide, we'll let the dice do it for you.


TEAMS

Llama’s – The triumphant hero’s of LLD1 return. Once again this team must try to eliminate all the ducks. Llama’s will make up ~70% of the players.

Duck’s – The victim’s of game 1, they are back with a vengeance. Duck’s will make up ~20% of the players. At the start of the game, each duck will know 1 other duck (teams of 2). The ducks will not start the game knowing other ducks (masons exempt). At night, the duck’s will send in votes to choose a player to eliminate. The player with the most votes dies. If ducks vote to kill another duck, he won't die. Those who did the voting will learn said other player is a duck.

Bunny’s with pancakes – The carefree animal of the internet has joined into the game. Why? Well it just doesn’t make any sense. All they care about is surviving until the end of the game. Some may call them neutral, but really what turns a person neutral? Do they wake up one day and decide I have no opinion on anything. These bunny's did.

Rules of note:
Scry interference will result in a failed attempt.
Voided scries will result in a failed attempt.
There is no voider interference, but voiding may be daisy chained.
Voider will not be told the results of their void.
3 day Autolynch. After 3rd day with no point = death.

A few questions that have come up....

Do I PM the narrators with a role? - Yep - send it to us with which role catches you fancy. Your role will be yours to know. If you share it, then it's at your own risk. Teams will be decided at random.

Can the Vortexer vortex themselves? - No, sorry. That would lead to a potential un-lynchable character, and since all characters may be 1 of three teams, we can't do that.

Are the Masons team good only? - Nope. We'll have evil masons and neutral masons for balance. Masons will know each other, and will know they are on the same team.

Does the Llama I pick decide which team I'm on? - Hee hee. :smallbiggrin: :smallamused: :smallwink: :smalleek: :smalltongue: :smallsmile:

Will there be the secret Chalupa sidequest? - Oh yes. But expect different rules with it. We won't be messing up the heal/hurts this time around. Expect things more "trivial" in nature.

And so far, the most popular role is.....HAH! Why on earth would I tell you that? :smalltongue:

You chose roles before knowing what team you're on. So you could chose mayor and end up on any of the three teams.

Of course if everyone chose mason from the get-go, then yeah, pretty much instant Llama win.

Yes, if anyone knew what team they would be on that would be a way to win. Since teams are assigned at random, the likelyhood of this happening is <1%.

We did think of the potential of everyone choosing the 1 role. And if that happens, well that's the craziness we were looking for. It could be a 1 day game because everyone chooses beast. It could be a [= to # of players] day game, because everyone chooses careless baner and therefore no one dies at night. Any way it runs, we planned and expected it, and figure it'd still be fun to run it.

Of course, it fits my mantra for creating WW variants. Don't just change the roles - change the game!

Signups will close on 3/31. Game appropriately starts on 4/1.

Nope. Names of players in red are points. Names in any other color.....

And regarding Assassin hiding the names, we're open to most logical forms of name hiding. White text, in a url, 1st letter of every word in a sentance, down the left column of the post are all fine. Logic that has to be explained in large detail like (Well, tonight my name is hidden with the 1st letter of word 3, 5th letter of word 7, 2nd letter of word 2 twice....) will not be allowed. Put it this way, if your explanation can't be made in 8 words or less, it won't work.

Also - an amendmant to team Duck has been made. Ducks will start the game blind (except for Duck masons of course). They will not be starting in pairs as previously noted. Since we changed the rule of ducks being able to kill themselves in the night off, we'll be making them go quack in the dark.

The victim should probably then get in contact with a careless baner or a voider to make sure the attempt doesn't happen.

I'm fine with my name being shortened to Stu or my other nethandle- Studoku-, since the numbers make it fairly obvious.

While I would imagine that yes, using bold letters to spell out your victims name would be acceptable, anyone who saw you do this would instantly assume you were an assassin.

And that may very well be a good enough reason to lynch you.

Here are some things I can think of for valid assassination description. "All the capitals", "The capitals of sentences with full stops", "First and last letters in sentences with exclamation marks", "Alternate first and last last letters by sentence", "Third letter of every third word",

and possibly simple cyphers, something like "First letters shifted two letters up the alphabet"

An example of the cypher in action. "Um.. Galling no? That could just exasperate." Would spell Selrahc when decoded. And while the sentence may not make a great deal of sense, it's pretty hard to find the name in there.

Letters in bold would be fine. Capital letters would be FINe. LettersLhiddenIinkwhiteebetween texttwouldhbeiperfectlysfine. There are many ingenious ways to hide a person's name. It has to make sense, and be quote-able.

Sorry Fin, didn't mean to pick on you. Your's was just the easiest name. :smallbiggrin:
