I myself am a huge fan of H.G. Wells' classic masterpiece The War of the Worlds. I often make sketches of things appearing in this book, and sometimes in related books.

Nice sketches! I'm also a fan of War of the Worlds. What did you think of the recent movie? Personally, I think it strayed too much from the book for my liking.

I've read the book, but have not seen the movie. Is it worth seeing?

In my opinion, don't bother, the book is much better. But, don't let that stop you.

If you like The War of the Worlds then you might like Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds. It's good music and true to the book.

There are four movies, three of which were released in the same month in 2005. The first was released in 1953 by George Pal, I think. The other three were by Steven Spielberg, Pendragon Pictures, and Asylum Films. The George Pal version was very inaccurate and had groundbreaking special effects for its time. It's incredibly cheesy by today's standards, though. The Spielberg version was good and had awesome effects, but it was inaccurate. The Asylum Films version was astonishingly inaccurate, crappy, and it had crap-ish special effects. The Pendragon Pictures version was crap and had simply awful special effects, but it followed the book almost slavishly. There's an upcoming new CGI WOTW movie slated for UK release in June, and it's based on the Jeff Wayne musical. Based upon the live tour footage and trailers I've seen, it will be awesome. I can't wait to get it on Netflix this fall.

Here's (http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=15808.0) the OOC and planning for the play-by-post game my roommate and I set up at Gamingsteve, and here's (http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=15870.0) the RP itself. I'm the giraffe-turkey avatar, my roommate is the parrot. If you want to join, read the OOC and Planning first. Obviously, since some of you are WOTW fans, I thought you might want to join, so I shamelessly plugged my RP.

Here is a picture I made based on a Fighting Machine from The album cover of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds

Oh, the small blur to the bottom of the picture is my avatar at the scale I thought they would be.

I'm going to be seeing him perform it in Brigton in June this year!!!

Actually, my scale is a little inaccurate; the fighting machine in the picture should be twice as tall. I depicted it as being fifty feet tall, when it really should be one hundred feet in height. Also, I envy you. If only I could fly to the UK whenever I felt like it...
