Currently I have a Call of Cthulhu D20 group going and we decided we want to do a modern delta green campaign. The problem is we don't have the delta green handbook. All we know is whats on wikipedia, which id basically pretty much the history. But is there anything else we really need to know in order to have a delta green campaign? Any information would be great.

Delta green set up a series of opponents:

Majestic 12 is a government group that has made bargain with what they think are the 'Greys' of traditional UFO lore but are in fact the Mi-Go. Majestic 12 covers up the Mi-go's activities and in exchange recieve crumbs of technology.
P.C.s are likely to encounter M-12 agents covering up various UFO sightings and weird mythos occurences. M-12 tend to be highly trained and armed ex-military and very dangerous people to mess with. They will also have high government sanction and may just be in the position to out rank the P.C.s authority

The Fate is a much more mysterious group whose goals remain unclear. Made up of sorcerors and various independent creatures they may not be immediately hostile ( and indeed can be bargained with). They do weild tremendous power and influence.

The Network is a international network of fascists run by three Nazi's who have survived since WW 2 by various unhealthy pacts with Mythos creatures. While the three themselves are tough cases their minions are a mixed bag of survivalists, white supremacists and other nuts. Ill trained though heavily armed they are the most combatable of alll the threats

There are of course many other threats but thats a thumbnail of the three biggest ones. May add more later

You can put together a Delta Green campaign just by cribbing off of your favorite "Conspiracy Theory" show: X-Files, Fringe, etc. There is no official "Delta Green" agency, just a haphazard bunch of random agents pulled from various government agencies, so you can pretty much set it up any way you like without contradicting anything in the DG book. A good chunk of the DG book is mostly just three of the major antagonists (Majestic-12, the Fate, and the Karotechia). Almost all of the modern-era CoC scenarios and most of the not-so-modern-era CoC scenarios can easily be adapted to DG. If you can't find any of the DG scenarios, keep an eye out for Nocturnum, a D20 modern-era CoC campaign.

The major differences between DG and a typical CoC campaign:

* The PCs have more of a reason to be working together. They can be hardened paranormal investigators. They may know a little more about what's going on.

* The PCs tend to be better equipped. Yes, they may have access to assault weapons, explosives, top secret files, high-tech gadgets, etc.

* Law enforcement no longer shuts down certain PC behavior. The PCs either are the Law, or they have resources to cut through red tape or cover their tracks.

However, you don't want to forget some important similarities with CoC:

* More info doesn't help. Knowing what's going on may mean more sanity checks. In CoC, some of the dimmer bulbs last a lot longer, skipping sanity checks by just not paying attention.

* Better equipment doesn't help. PCs still die like flies.

* Being part of the Law doesn't help. Tentacles trump badges.
