You're something in the viscinity of 16, aren't you :smallsigh:

Me? Aye, although 17 in 14 days.

Although strangely I think I was in better shape when I was 14-15 than I am now. :smalleek: I have been pretty ill for the last few months or so coupled with being banned from the mat by my coach and my doctor for the last three weeks because I have several injuries that need some time to heal.

I hate not being allowed onto the mat. I get all fidgety and highly strung... :smallfrown:

perhaps there is some form of disciplined exercise that you can still do without aggravating your wounds that would help ameloriate such feelings?

In any event, you seem to still be in better shape than the majority of americans, so there's that in your favor. :smalltongue:

I'm not entirely sure what you were trying to say, but I feel like I should tell you that in Australia you're "legal" at 16.

Same in the UK. So what exactly is the problem with me being almost 17??

perhaps there is some form of disciplined exercise that you can still do without aggravating your wounds that would help ameloriate such feelings?

But disciplined exercise is boring. I had a weights program for about a week, and then I just stopped cause I got bored out of my mind, I need some sort of stimulus to keep me going, at least on the mat I'm fighting people and my brain is kept busy. Hopefully I will be back on the mat on Saturday, doubt it but I might as well try.

Plus there is little exercise that I can think of that does not involve my shins, left knee, groin, two or three of my right ribs and my neck. :smalltongue:

Also, seeing as this thread is pretty much about appearance I need the playground's opinion. Hopefully if I get my act together over the summer I'm going to dye my hair. Now what I want to know is which colour would be better: Electric Blue or Purple?

Yeah, he's a fox and she's a sparrow.

I don't know whether I should be happy that you consistently remember the definite article in my name or sad that you consistently forget to include me in every single list other than this one ever.

Maybe it's because of pictures like this (http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2390/184/97/611331541/n611331541_1932569_6090883.jpg).

Only sometimes? Damn. Must try harder.

There are a few things that scare me (or at least used to).
My main fears are failure and disapointing the people I care about.
I also used to have a fear of spiders and a fear of the undead. I'm over those fears now.
I have slight acrophobia, the fear of heights. There's something about going splat that scares me. But I'm okay as long as I'm not in an open-topped airbourne vehicle (e.g. I'm fine in an aeroplane, but I wouldn't go near a Hot-air balloon).

I have a very memorable voice. It's extremely deep, and I have a lisp where I can't pronounce the letter "r". I used to be so annoyed at it, but I'm ok now that my voice is so deep. Puberty ftw.A lisp is specifically when you can't pronounce "s" properly. Isn't it? Maybe you're thinking of just "speech impediment". I still have a bit of a lisp - my tongue goes out the side of my mouth when I say "s" rather than staying inside the front teeth, as in normal speech, or out the front, as in normal lisps. I think it's mostly gone, now, though it does come back sometimes.

Hmm... Fears... Could be a toughy. Lets see...

That's... pretty weird :smalltongue: They practically rule my house. And there is contention over whether they are actually spiders. Something to do with them having a penis or somesuch. But in any case, they are completely and utterly harmless to humans. Also, they're meant to eat poisonous spiders like redback spiders or something like that. I'll check...
edit: Here we go.

If the spider continues to feel harassed it will retreat into a corner or drop from its web, and leave the harasser alone... Certain species of these seemingly benign spiders invade webs of other spiders and eat the host, the eggs or the prey. In some cases the spider vibrates the web of other spiders, mimicking the struggle of trapped prey to lure the host of the web closer. Pholcids are natural predators of the Tegenaria species, and are known to attack and eat redback spiders and huntsman spiders [2][3]. It is this competition that helps keep Tegenaria populations in check, which may be advantageous to humans who live in regions with dense hobo spider populations... There is an urban legend stating that daddy long-legs spiders have the most potent venom of any spider, but that their chelicerae (fangs) are either too small or too weak to puncture human skin; the same legend is also repeated of the harvestman and crane fly, also called "daddy long-legs" in some locales. Indeed, pholcid spiders do have a short fang structure (called uncate). However, brown recluse spiders also have uncate fang structure, but are able to deliver medically significant bites. Either pholcid venom is not toxic to humans or there is a musculature difference between the two arachnids, with recluses, being hunting spiders, possessing stronger muscles for fang penetration. [5]

In 2004, the Discovery Channel show MythBusters set out to test the daddy long-legs myth (Season 1, Episode 13 "Buried in Concrete"). After measuring the spider's fangs at approximately 0.25 mm (average human skin thickness varies from about 0.5mm to 4mm), the show's host was apparently bitten, although the bite produced little more than a mild short-lived burning sensation. This appears to confirm the suspicion that pholcids can penetrate human skin, but that their venom is practically harmless to humans. Additionally, recent research by Alan Van Dyke has shown that pholcid venom is actually relatively weak in its effects on insects as well.[6].

According to the University of California at Riverside, the daddy long-legs spider has never harmed a human and there is no evidence that they are venomous to humans.[7]That's what I'd be referring to as "daddy longlegs", and what that picture looked like to me. Oh, and they are definitely spiders. The Harvestman is the not-quite-a-spider, but not for the whole penis thing.

I also think the Americans use the nick name "Daddy-Long-Leg" for a slightly different animal the the Brits do. Fears: ...Simply put... I don't much like arthropods. Read on at your own boredom/disgust

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3152/2921377386_911ea1303d.jpgWell, I had nightmares about being turned into some kind of arthropoid or half arthropoid creature (ala driders for example) against my will and possibly while defenseless and sleeping and possibly by my blankets/sheets themselves transforming around me. This even before ever having heard of/seen "The Fly"(I think that's the title anyway) or even having played Starcraft where it basically happens to one of the main characters. Though seeing both of those did aggravate it... and growing up and dealing with the fear each time it tried to take hold has helped me get it to the point where if it does come I don't wake up screaming or anything...

But I still still sit up/wake up in the middle of the night and be disturbed deeply to the core of my being and have the need to look around to see if anything's wrong before being able to settle down. Other times I'll just imagine small ticks/spiders climbing over my body several times(augmented/encouraged by the presence of cats which I'm allergic to and the sensation of a cat hair irritating my skin is somewhat similar to the feeling of being crawled on/bitten...

I simply do not like dealing with arthropods and the idea of touching them is abhorrent, to the point where I can't stand being anywhere near shrimp that have not been decapitated and had their legs removed. I'll kill spiders as necessary to not have them nearby when I'm trying to use the restroom/shower or something, but I generally prefer not to kill 'em as well. Some things like flies and ants just annoy me, but whenever I accidentally expose a colony or ants (by say, lifting up a rock that's sunk into the soil partially) the sight of their white larval forms revolts me.

Well, my sleep-deprived state resulted in my delving far too deep into my own psyche for comfort....x.x

Also, I'm disappointed due to the fact my father hasn't uploaded our vacation trip photos from the camera/his harddrive yet.... or I'd be sharing some horrors with ya'll... y'all? hmm...x.x

But eh. At least you don't have me singing the Worms song like I did last time. :smalltongue:

The worm song would've been cool in my opinion.
I tried to record something of me singing (again), but it cut most of it out. So yeah, might have to start again. (For anyone who cares, I was going to sing "I'm yours" by Jason Mraz, that song is stuck in my head)

And Cassie has a very nice voice indeed. Awesomesauce points for the futurama reference though.

Okay, I have something to confess.
The pictures I've posted aren't of me, they're of my little brother and the voice recordings are his too.

Here is the real me. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjNAeELQ_Z8)

...

Did you fall for it? :smalltongue:
Actually yeah, the pictures and recordings are of the real me, I'm just messing with you... or am I? :smalltongue:

You don't need a new thread for voice recordings, voice recordings have been part and parcel of the You thread from the 2nd onwards. =P

I don't know how to say this to not have it sound wrong, but lately this thread seems to have lost its way. Maybe the purpose has changed or something, but the ratio of actual pictures of the playgrounders has gone down dramatically.

I probably don't have a right to say this, after all I'm just a lurker, but at best it's become a new RB with the occasional pic. I don't like a lot the idea of people posting random pics about given topics (like with "fears"), to me that's a different kind of thread. It's okay if people want to do it, but well, I liked the way it was before.

Sorry to point it out, I know people are not going to like my comment and all, but I needed to say it. Also this one is among the very few threads I still read on this board, and that might be why I don't want to lose it :/

Eh. Fel's got a point. Some things warrant their own threads (fears). And this isn't RB. But... you already know that.
