at the risk of sounding like a quote unquote "noob" I want to know what people do with blogs and how's your recommended way of starting one.

You sort of just... write stuff. Whatever you like. Thoughts, poems, ideas, theories, dissertations, diaries, meditations upon the fwuffyness of kittens...

You can get one for free at http://www.blogger.com

so, it's not like a twitter where you post things? It's like ideas? Like...video game reviews?:smalltongue:

Sometimes.
A lot of people have a 'personal' style of blog.
Basically a journal, but on the webbernets!

People make blogs about pretty much anything. I've got a blog attached to my website where I post indie game development stuff, for example, and I read other indie game development blogs.

If you're interested in starting a WordPress blog, you can easily do so at the WordPress (http://wordpress.com/) site. My blog is built on WordPress, although it's not hosted there (I have my own hosting).

I post any and everything Lerky... at elast when I do post... Make sure, if you want to start a blog, that you have enough motivation to keep it going... I'll help you format or otherwise outfit/get the basics of Blogger down though if you'd like me too.

I have a few. There's a livejournal for personal stuff, game mastery for GMing (linked in sig), code for programming, and see-me-rant for work (though I haven't updated this one in a couple years). I have them for several reasons. Firstly, I like to write. More importantly, I obsess about certain ideas. I'll focus on them and not thing about something else for weeks on end. If I write up that idea, I can free myself from it and spend time on something else.

I also enjoy documenting certain thoughts and views of mine. My game mastery blog, for instance, started because I found myself repeating certain thought patterns on these forums. Instead of typing out why I think backstory helps roleplay once a month, I wrote out my post in exquisite detail and occasionally link to it or copy/paste content from it. I like when people read my blogs, but mostly they're just an outlet for my ranting.

There are quite a number of forum members with blogs. There's one involving a new very short story daily, which is interesting but I haven't particularly pursued.

There's Chocolate Hammer (http://www.chocolatehammer.org/), which Rutskarn does quite consistently and excellently, which you will likely see plugs for scattered throughout the forums.

EvilElitist did a blog, although he got banned from the forums, so I don't really have any other details.

My friend has one, to post sections of the novel she's writing, Colorshock. There's a link in my sig.

i have started a blog in the last 5 days

most blogs are pointless and read by almost nobody. Mine will probably be one of those

so why did i start? Well... there was a girl. She is rather pleasant on the eye. Shes hung out with me enough to know how sarcastic, bitter and vile i can be about a lot of things. The sort of humour the makes most people wince. I was on a rant one day and end up saying i would write it all in a book, which would subsiquantly never sell, and i'd go bankrupt from being sued by a publisher or some such lark... she said i should start a blog instead so she could read it while she travels.

i dismissed the notion

word spread of the idea. More people asked me to start said horrible blog

i dismissed such further notions

More people found out and asked

i started the blog

its horrible... so far most of them love it

my friends are a bunch of sick ****s sometimes

I have a blog where I keep track of my dreams.

I used to do that in a notebook.

These days, though, it'd always just be a variation on either a) ghost goes back to school and lives in the dorms, or b) ZOMBIPOCALYPSE! Occasionally there's overlap, but usually not.

I usually call it a Zombocolypse.

But yeah; I have a Blog (http://blackpantsguy.blogspot.com/)... good luck ever getting constant updates though...:smalltongue:

That's pretty much it.

Most of it is set to "friends only", so it wouldn't do you any luck if I gave you the link (http://queenofmemnoch.livejournal.com/).

That's my job. :smallamused: Besides, you're younger than she is.

I also have a LiveJournal (http://pyrian.livejournal.com), in which I guess I mostly complain about my weight these days. :smallwink: Which, after certain events of the past few years, is actually a lot like complaining about my love life. :smallyuk:

You're making very good progress on the diet. Based on the graph and your goal, the end is truly in sight.
