The man who saw it all from Normandy to 9/11 died at 7:42 PM. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30988078/ns/entertainment-television/) :smallfrown: He was one of the greats, I doubt there will ever be another anchorman like him.

Man. I used to know his grandson, and I wish I could talk to him now. Walter Cronkite was a great man who raised a great family and gave the public a great education. God bless him.

I didn't even know he was still alive. Nevertheless, his passing shall be greatly mourned.

Much like Rutskarn, I though he died some time ago. This is... sad news, to say the least.

Walter, the world is a bit less bright without you in it. You will be missed. :smallfrown:

:smalleek: I too thought he had been dead for at least a half decade. Truly, it is the passing of a great symbol.

Personally, I'd change the :smallfrown: to a :smallcool:, and change the heading as ^. I mean, come on! That's a hell of an achievement!

But I don't really know who he is <.< I hope someone got his story first...

A very sad day, especially for those who watched CBS from 1962-1981. "The most trusted man in America" will be greatly missed.

Wow. That is one amazing achievement, to live to be 92. I had no idea he was that old. :O

The man will be greatly missed, in any case. :smallfrown:

He was sort of before my time, but I know what a great anchorman he was. His reputation is truly legendary.

One of my many college majors was Broadcast Journalism. He was something of an idol to me during that period.

Walter, you will be missed.

Famous newsman, and the source of a running gag in the novel "Superfolks".

Some one else who was alive during these events has died today. Henry Allingham, the worlds oldest man, the last founding member of the Royal Air Force, and one of the last British survivers of WWI.

I'm sorry, i think i'm just misinterpreting your statement, but are you saying that it sucks that he died, or that he was a son of a *****?

In any case, it's sad to hear of this man's passing. I'd never actually heard of him until now, but that seems a great tragedy to see him go :smallfrown: Farewell Walter Cronkite.

...The former. If I had wanted to call him a son of a bitch, I would have had a verb in the post somewhere.

Wow, it sounds like he was an interesting guy...
