So, I like barbershop quartets, and all their four-part-harmonising excellence, but there are not enough of them in my itunes library. My budget is modest, but I'd like to rectify the situation a little by getting some. Do the music aficionados in the playground have any recommendations?

All i know is I saw the thread name and my highschool days poped back into my head. One day the principal had a barbershop quartet walk around singing to classes, and as they left they would sing a goodbye song that started like so:
1: Goodbye
2: So Long
3: Fare Well
4: Don't Shoot I'll Marry Your Daughter!

sorry, thats all i've got.

The Blanks (aka Ted's band on Scrubs) are pretty good, they're a cappella, not barbershop but it sounds similar.

My dad sang in barbershop choruses for about 20 years. The ones he was in won quite a few medals at Internationals. Check out The Alexandria Harmonizers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60DpPE-E8PU) and The Masters of Harmony (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6IJWTXzgVs).
