Same bonuses never stack.

This ring continually allows the wearer to leap about, providing a +5 competence bonus on all his Jump checks.

A competence bonus is not one of the few bonus types that allow stacking with themselves. Pretty much the only ones that do that are dodge bonuses and circumstance bonuses (but only if they arise from different circumstances).

You could, using the item creation rules, make a ring that granted a bonus of another type to Jumping...but the cost is likely prohibitive.

Just get boots of striding and springing, and make sure you arent wearing armor that limits your speed, or carrying a heavy load.

The +5 competance bonus to jumping stacks with the +4 bonus you get for each 10 feet of speed you have over 30ft. So that item in itself gives a light armor, no heavy load character a +9 to jump. Toss in a level of barbarian, and now you have +13 to jump.

Of course they don't, otherwise improved (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rings.htm#jumpingImproved) version would be completely useless.
Although the whole Jump skill is stupid by itself - grab some Boots of levitation and you don't need it any more. I think it should be combined with Balance and Tumble into one Incredible Movement skill, and at middle levels allow you to perform Matrix-style actions+ ability to run on water; at high levels - to run on air(you know, mid-air jumps from video games).

The improved ring provides more bonus than the boots do and the 2 don't stack, either. Also, Levitation doesn't provide horizontal movement, only vertical for the most part and slowly. If we want to do this right, why not chug a potion of jump and haste, both at CL 5, while wearing an improved ring of jumping, for a total of +52 to Jump? Or, to not have to worry about jumping at all ever again, just buy a pair of Winged Boots so you can just FLY, while hasted, at 90' move with good manueverability?

You can leviatate after achieving a sufficient horizontal speed. Thanks to the wonderful law of inertia, you'll be able to jump quite far.

Mer-aculous Hangtime (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6684658#post6684658) + HP or significant Str damage midflight = endless jump. :D
