Monty Python yeah? I take exception to that sketch, I am a Yorkshireman. Of course if it isn't Monty Python I have once again made a fool of myself.

EDIT:

I'd say disturbing, this board would make normal people's brains jump out through the ear.

I meant you. Are you getting more disturbing? :P

You may not know me... But I know you!

Dun Dun DUN!

Oh. Ok. I get that all the time. ;)

EDIT: Wow...given those incidents of memory loss I had...*worries*...what if I really don't know some people anymore?

Yes, it is Monty Python... Also, what does "taking exception" to something mean?

Ah right. I meant disturbing, children fear me. Which doesn't help when you work in a library which many children enter.

EDIT:Yes, it is Monty Python... Also, what does "taking exception" to something mean?

Kind of taking offence, but I mean in a joking way. It's something I got off futurama, I have never heard a person actually use it.

I do not have mammary glands. Therefore, I do not have boobs. We have words for the mammary glans and surrounding tissue unique to human(oid) females. One of those words is "boobs". Understood? I do not have these.

I think you technically do have boobs. Visually, your boobs are bigger than mine.

Voleta
03-13-2007, 06:45 PM
Bah, he doesn't really have 'boobs', but does have mammary tissue, so technically, he has breasts. I consider 'boobs' to mean anything A-cup and over.

But that was totally the wrong thing to say, Heretic, unless you have a concave chest =P

Why thank you, DoIhaveaname! Do you think the mohawk is a bit much though?

I think there may actually be toads in some areas of the US that secret a hallucinogenic substance on their back. Meaning you can trip out by licking them.

Yes, toads (some more than others) do secrete a substance that people have licked or dried then smoked. Yes, it is a hallucinogenic and yes, while you are tripping out it stops your heart.

My themesong for the fight? Here's a llama,There's a llama, and another little llama. Fuzzy Llama, Funny Llama, Llama Llama duck. Llama llama, cheesecake llama, tablet, brick, potato, llama. llama llama mushroom llama llama llama duck. I was once a tree house, I lived in a cake, but i never saw the way the orange slayed the rake, I was only three years dead, but it told a tale, and now listen little child to the safety rail. Did you ever see a llama, kiss a llama on the llama, llama's llama, tastes of llama, llama llama duck. Half a llama, Twice a llama, not a llama, farmer llama, llama in a car, alarm a llama, llama duck. Is it how its told now, is it oh so old, is it made of lemon juice, doorknob, ankle, cold. Now my song is getting thin, I've run out of luck, Time for me to retire now, and become a duck

I've had symptoms since I was born, though i wasn't diagnosed until I was two. I was told I had ten years (which is actually the average, last I heard. Of course, there are 80 year olds who have had no problems with their lupus since their 30s), if I was careful. I've been really really careful. I am an extremely quick healer, or it'd be a LOT worse.

There is a saying that you don't die from lupus, you die from the things it causes, such as organ failure, infections, and just being prone to a host of other diseases. Someone here who I wont mention but you can proably guess compared it to Diabetes in that regard.

For me, it usually is blisters on my skin from the sun (and if I don't treat them right away I get scars) and arthritis. Lately though, my eyesight has been faulty, locked joints, and I run a constant fever. I was almost put on a liver transplant list a year or so ago, but my mutant healing kicked in enough that it is working well enough that I just "need to keep an eye on it".

About Khan's singing - Well, um depends on what you're going for. A lot of us sing unprofessionally with out training or lessons or whatever and just need to sound decent. I personally learned wind instruments before my attempts at singing so I know the basics of breathing, diaphragm control, and air support. Things that vocal lessons would teach. I mean, if you wanna get better there's always that. There's no real way to become a great singer without someone in front of you teaching you. You can practice scales and buzzing and breath control but that only helps so much. But that's also what I only really do so its okay for us people who don't really care about singing too much to sound professional. Things that you can fix instantly: support until the end of the note, especially (!!!) on the high notes. High notes need more air so you can't be afraid of them and back away, it just comes out weak and undersupported and out of tune, like it happened after every phrase on the recording. You need to push to the end of the phrase, not just give up halfway and trail off. Same goes with the end of words/notes, you had a tendency of doing that. A metronome and tuner would help too. Always standards.

How 'bout this: if you wanna be a good singer, get lessons. Until then you can only be so good. Only very few people have a "natural singing voice" and even then they should get training as a "natural voice" is usually just a nice timbre and not really knowing how to support that color.

What do you mean obsolete? The day women stop needing us, we'll all be free. As long as they need us we get tied down with having to do all these silly things, like watching Sandra Bullock movies and pretending to care that their co-worker's uncle's pet gerbil was eaten by a hawk on Sunday at noon. yes, we'll be free to go back to monosyllabic grunts for communication and watching sports all day without having to go to her parents.

Amotis
03-15-2007, 07:54 PM

Eldpollard
03-15-2007, 08:09 PM
I'd say it would be sexy over here actually. Depending on where in America you're from though I guess. It's probably the novelty factor.

Voleta
03-15-2007, 08:10 PM
Well, it depends on where you are from. IIRC the only "attractive" american accent is a "southern belle", which only applies to women from Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. The rest of America just sounds like an idiot to everyone else. I really really hate the accents from Wisconsin and New York.

I have been told I have a slight Scarlet O'hara sound, btw. Wink wink.

J_Muller
03-15-2007, 08:13 PM
Southern women don't necessarily have a monopoly on nice accents... though I knew a girl from Florida whose accent was rather...appealing.
There was a girl in my English class last year with a Brooklyn accent that I thought sounded really nice.

Eldpollard

Voleta
03-15-2007, 08:18 PM
Well then, you are sick and should get your hearing checked  We might have different definitions of a NYC accent though. Fran Dresher (sp? The Nanny) and the dudes from Sopranos have the accent that makes me want to vomit. No offense to anyone here that sounds like that, but if you do then.. I'd rather not hear you talk, thanks!

I agree that women from all of the USA can sound nice, but the only general accent I have ever heard multiple people approve of is the Southern Lady one. Granted, there is a certain extent to which it is pleasing, and I have heard a lot of people with it that just sound.. blargh. Britney Spears has the crappy form of the accent (But that is because she's Cajun, and retarded. I met her once, when my uncle was doing work on her family's computer, before she 'got famous'. She was disturbingly unbright even then.)

Khantalas
03-15-2007, 08:19 PM
Fran Drescher doesn't have a bad accent. She has a bad nasal voice.

Voleta
03-15-2007, 08:21 PM
If she didn't have the accent (think the extending of some vowels), she wouldn't sound so disturbing. For shows like The Nanny, she emphasised the accent much more. If you have heard her talk in an interview or somesuch, you'd know what I mean. Trying to find an example now.

Khantalas

For women, French accents are awesome. I also like Australian and (for some reason I cannot explain) Indian (dot Indian, not feather Indian). All kind of sexy in my experience.

Now for men I find some British accents cool, as well as some heavy african accents. (silly I know... it's a whole continent. But I could never really narrow down where the cool accents are from. I just know it when I hear it).

Accents I kind of dislike: Twangy southern U.S. can grate on me depending on the speaker. And the really really heavy Boston-ish accent.

B-Man: My brother is in the navy, and everything he buys he ships to us (because apparently shipping it here costs half what it costs to ship to him on the kittyhawk). Anyway, he bought a bunch of tea, some special kind you can only get in the southern US, and he was going to keep some and give others to his co-workers for christmas. So my grandma and I spent four hours wrapping up little satchels of tea (12 per box, iirc), putting them back in the box, then wrapping the box and putting it back in the carton (24 boxes total, i think it was). We also wrapped up batteries before putting them into his radio, then wrapped the radio and put it in the box, wrapped up his laptop manual and all.

We also taped down all the edges.
