(I've been away from the forums for a bit. Hope this sort of thread is still allowed. If not, mods, please PM me or something and let me know the right place to post it and/or how to modify it so it's legal to post here- thanks.)

In the style of The BEAST (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78026) and MS Paint Adventures (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/)

http://i36.tinypic.com/34fecti.png

You are L.E.R.O.Y. You are the universe's most advanced artificially intelligent spaceship. Currently you are small and fragile but you grow in power and complexity when you defeat foes and with general experience.

THE RULES:

1. LEROY cannot self-terminate.

2. LEROY doesn't take crap from anybody.

3. LEROY responds to your commands. However LEROY has a mind of its own and is free to pick and chose when it recieves multiple commands.

4. LEROY does not answer arbitrary questions.

---

How it works:

LEROY is an interactive comic slash game slash social experiment thingie. I can't describe it any better than that.

Spread out across a number of forums and smaller communities (currently a total of three) I've made threads where LEROY resides. Anyone can give LEROY a command, and the resulting actions are posted on all of the treads. In other words, your commands here affect what happens in far-off parts of the internet, and vice-versa.

LEROY has no goals other than to kick ass and be awesome, so basically any command will be accepted.

http://i37.tinypic.com/25yub1e.png
LEROY has four main power systems; Engines, Shields, Weapons, and Reserve.

The Engines let you move. They don't consume "fuel" of any sort, just "power." Your current engines are very effecient, with enough power reserves to last you as long as you need. However future upgrades to the engines (or other systems) could change this.

Your Shields protect you from damage. They are always "on" but consume no power when they're not being used. When you take enemy fire or similar damage, your shields lose energy. If your shields go down and you take a direct hit to your fuselage, you will take heavy damage and could potentially be destroyed.

Your Weapons have unlimited "ammo" but drain power when you use them. If you run out of power, you can no longer fire your weapons and must wait for them to recharge. Your current armament consists of a pair of small turbolasers (one on each wing) which consume an negligible amount of energy to fire. You also recently acquired a particle gun, which is more powerful, but less efficient.

Your Reserve power can be transferred to other systems that are damaged or out of power. You can also redirect power from your reserves to "overcharge" other systems. This makes them more powerful (more weapon damage, stronger shields, faster engines, etc) but risks damaging them. You have this system instead of a life support system because you have no crew.

You also possess a Hyperdrive for interplanetary travel, an auto-repair system that "heals" damage over time, and the standard spaceship stuff. (sensors, etc)

There's a bit more to explain in terms of weapons and upgrades, but that will be posted when it comes up again.

The story so far- (or, read a mirror of the original thread (http://sediverse.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=33576#33576), and the first permanent thread (http://sediverse.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=33576#33576))

LEROY started in orbit around Joopider, a gas giant. He scanned the planet and found an airborne city full of innocent civilians. LEROY descended into the planet's atmosphere and encountered the city's small fleet of defensive ships, who he quickly dispatched. The city then launched a bigger and more powerful ship, against which LEROY's weapons were ineffective. LEROY attempted to supercharge his weapon system, but ended up just overloading and destroying them. Luckily, the blast took out the bigger ship, leaving the city defenseless. LEROY shattered the dome that kept the city's atmosphere inside, destroying the city.

LEROY moved on to Awkwuh, another gas giant, only to find that everyone there had apparently been destroyed by a ship eerily similar to himself, named ROY. ROY deployed a device that temporarily shorted out LEROY's hyperdrive, preventing him from escaping. The two did battle amongst the debris around Awkwuh, with LEROY emerging the victor after igniting ROY's fuel trail. ROY escaped into hyperspace, and LEROY moved on to the planet Beetle-Jews.

You are currently in orbit around Beetle-Jews, contemplating the best method to subjugate the planet's inhabitants. What do you do?

No-need to restart it, just request that a mod move it to either Fan Comics (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=54) if it'll just be on this site, or Webcomics (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17) if you're just going to be reposting content visible on your own site (which I believe you not).

They respond by launching a bunch of ships. 'cause, y'know, that always a good sign.

Pull that cliched spaceship move, where the pursued ship heads straight for a rock and pulls up at the last possible second, sending the pursuing vessels or weapons exploding against the rocky surface.

I have no idea what I'm talking about. But hey, LEROY is apparently missing some much needed weapons for this sort of thing.

Telecommunicate with the approaching ships using your on-board coms-screen. Question them. If their intentions are hostile... FIRE PHOTON TORPEDOES!!!!!!!!!!!

Get Closer.

http://i35.tinypic.com/2rcncci.png

You ask the Beetle-Jews ships what their intentions are. You get no response. Maybe beetles can't read?

http://i33.tinypic.com/343hx1v.png

Meanwhile, you descend into the atmosphere. You are able to get a better reading on the ships that make up the oncoming enemy swarm.

http://i36.tinypic.com/23jph1v.png

There seems to be three varieties of ship. The first kind has a large laser cannon-type weapon mounted on the front. The second is armed with some unidentified device, maybe a tractor beam or a portal gun or something. The third are armed with fat-ass missiles.

http://i34.tinypic.com/2h57g3b.png

You get the hell out of the way!

Try to write "I <3 U QUEEN" with exploding ships to impress - and possibly mate with - her. Every monarch loves when you kill their lowly minions for art!

http://i37.tinypic.com/2d85l53.png

Using your weapons's systems, you swiftly carve a love letter to the queen into the mob of ships.

Shoot the mountain. Make it crush the puny fighters like the ants they are.

http://i33.tinypic.com/8ye1rl.png

You proceed to the opening in the castle/mound thing, and blow it up.

http://i33.tinypic.com/2mq6li1.png

Of course, now you have huge swarm of Beetle-Jew ships right on top of you...

http://i33.tinypic.com/2hs44k8.png

Also, small problem. The atmosphere here is really thick, and you were designed for maneuvering in outer space. The strain at moving at such high speeds is putting additional strain on your engines. The added friction is also draining your shields a bit. (otherwise you'd basically just burn up as if in reentry) It's not a problem yet but it could be in the future.

ascend back to the heavens and see if the beetle follow you.
Fly back out into space directly, while shooting all ships in your path.
Completely shut all engine power down except for one left thruster, which you should boost for about a few seconds. This will cause the ship to sort of "wipe-out", and if you continuously fireyour particle beam while this is happening, it will be like a particle beam sawblade of death that should wipe out everyone.
The Fullbladder commands that LEROY use his evasive maneuvors to cause the enemy vessels to shoot one another!

http://i38.tinypic.com/35hgu1f.png

You spiral upward through the beetle swarm, scattering shots from your turbolasers and particle gun all throughout the enemy ships.

http://i36.tinypic.com/2drgdi9.png

Meanwhile, they're also shooting at you. This is getting pretty chaotic; the missiles seem to have a homing function and you haven't been hit by the unknown weapon yet.

This isn't looking too good.

Make a yaw-spin, do a wing-over back toward the planet, leading the missles back through the swarm of fighters, use gravity to get you to terminal velocity, then redirect LEROY out at a parrallel to the ground and use the additional force to speed off the planet. (Planets are round, and LEROY is going straight, meaning eventually he'll leave the atmosphere by moving fast enough.)
