EDIT: I got the job, start on Monday the 2nd of November.
Hallo all, loopy here!
So I've managed to snag myself a job interview at a big Aussie ISP in 9 hours time, which is good. Problem is, I'm sick as anything, been throwing up/haven't been able to eat for two days.
I'd ask to delay the interview, but unfortunately they are in kind of a hurry, if I get the job I'll be working by Monday.
So, this pretty much leaves me the option of battling on. Now, my question is, how much of an issue do I make of the fact that I'm sick? Do I not mention it at all, or just explain when they enquire as to why I look like death warmed up, or...?
Regardless, I could really use some prayer/hugs/good vibes. Cheers!

Eh, I got my current job when I was nearly crippled with a sacroiliac injury and could barely move. I hobbled into the interview, sat down very gingerly, and explained that despite how it looked, I actually have no chronic conditions preventing me from working on a regular basis. Having said that, if I'd been sick and able to disguise it, I would not have explained that unless they specifically asked.
And- *HUGS* and Bonne Chance!

If they ask, explain. As to whether or not you should explain it first, I'm not sure, but don't try to hide it if they ask about it.

If it's a cold/flu sort of sickness, I'd mention casually that you're getting over something if it comes up. For bonus points, bring along a bottle of hand sanitizer to make sure you're not transmitting germs every time you shake someone's hand. It'll make you look detail-oriented. :smallwink:

Might I humbly suggest that if your illness is contagious you postpone the interview at all costs? If you're the candidate who comes in and puts the whole office out for a week, they probably won't think much of you :).
Otherwise -- put your best foot forward and say nothing about your illness unless specifically asked.
Respectfully,

Sickness eh? That's what they call it these days? :smalltongue:
Nah, that sucks man. Hope you recover shortly. As for the interview, I'd agree with the chorus of "don't volunteer anything, but if asked, tell them you're on the mend right now".

I'd say it depends on how good you can look riding pain killers, a hot or cold patch (under the shirt, at the base of your neck), and caffeine.
If you still look like roadkill, mention it. if not, don't.

If you decide to take cold medicine, take the one with dextrometrophan as an active ingredient, not antihistamine. The latter will make you fall asleep.

So the interview is over, and aside from a minor incident where I had to explain why I was making funny faces (was trying desperately not to throw up) I think I did okay.
I got through to secondary testing, which is good at least. Keep the prayers, hugs, and good vibes coming!
I'll find out whether I got the job or not this afternoon (so in the next 5 hours)...

Look, you showed a lot of stamina going there when you were sick. Some people would try and opt out.

Hey, I noticed you're from the Central Coast. Where exactly? I used to live there and miss it a lot.

Depending on how well you know the Central Coast, I live between Woy Woy/Kincumber/Terrigal, closest to Kincumber.

*huggles. Good luck my friend. I would point out your sick but that you're willing to work if they need you. At the same time.. don't make a big deal out of it.
Hope you feel better Loopy! Good luck.

Ah nice, where do you live now? I'm still living near-ish Woy Woy, about to start working down in Sydney though.
The Coast is nice, and beautiful, shame its so quiet.

< Here.
There's no beaches here. I used to go to Terrigal, Shelley and Toowoon Bay, as well as my favouite beach Bateau Bay. Here they are cold, full or rocks and hardly any swell, there's also the freezng onshore winds.

...Plus theres always the fact that you are in Tasmania. :smalltongue:
I joke. I've never been there, so I wouldn't know. Just came back from lunch in Terrigal, nice day outside, bit windy though.
Why'd you move down to Tassie though? :smallconfused:
