Aberrant Lens
Sometimes referred to as an aberrant eye, the aberrant lens (outside of the host) resembles nothing more than a human eye whose pupil is shaped like a star. When the lens is held up to the eye (or eye socket), the aberrant lens drills in and replaces the eye of the creature, effectively becoming their new eye.

While technically a completely self-sustained creature that can draw energy from sun light to survive, aberrant lenses are extremely vulnerable while outside of a host. Even simple animals like birds pose a very real threat to an aberrant lens.

Combat
Aberrant lenses never initiate combat. If challenged, they will roll with all their might away from the threat.

When an aberrant eye inserts itself into an eye socket (it may only fit into the eye sock of a small, medium or large creature), the eye deals 1 point of Con damage. This damage may not be healed until the eye is removed (representing the energy drain on the host). Remove an aberrant lens deals 2d8 points of damage to the host and an additional 1d4 points of Con damage that heal over a 1-week period.

Generally the only "pursuit" an aberrant lens has is to not be killed. As such, personality conflicts very rarely come into play (as even if the host dies, odds are the eye won't).

Piercing Vision (Su): An aberrant eye possesses amazing visual acuity, and can "switch" between normal (human-like) vision, infrared vision, and even x-ray vision (and a unique variation thereof). When attached to a creature, this ability is accessible by that creature. Using this vision causes the user to deal 1 point of Constitution damage to himself for every minute that this is activated.

An aberrant lens may see invisible creatures at all times, not as the spell. An aberrant eye may also switch between normal vision, infrared vision, and x-ray vision as a move action. None of these offer unique mechanical advantages above the constant see-invisibility noted above, beyond being able to detect whether a creature gives off heat or not, or being able to see the bones of creatures.

A special ability of the aberrant lens is to see through solid matter as though it weren't there. While using this, the user can see through up to 5 feet of wood, 3 feet of dirt, 2 feet of stone or 1 inch of iron. This ability may be used up to 40 feet away. Doing this is straining on the body of the host (or the aberrant eye), however and deals 1 point of Con damage every round (creatures without a Con score cannot use this). Con damage sustained in this way is healed over a period of 3 days, and cannot be healed by magical or mundane methods, only by natural rest.

Improved Ocular Spell (Su): Aberrant lenses confer the unique ability to channel spells very efficiently. Whenever a character with the Ocular Spell feat (Lords of Madness) stores a spell in their eyes, one of these spells only has its spell level increased by 1, instead of 2 (note that if two aberrant eyes are both attached to the same host, this instead affects both spells stored by Ocular Spell).

Additionally, this ability allows the symbiont to funnel the life energy of the creature into a spell, empowering it greatly. By spending a full round action a spell caster may take Con drain to raise the caster level of their spell, at the ratio of 1:1. So a caster could drain 10 points of Con for a boost of 10 caster levels on that particular spell. When more than 1/3rd of the caster's Con score has been drained, their eyes begin to bleed heavily.

If a spell caster drains all of their Con using this ability, the spell goes off before the character dies. Also note that this drain cannot be healed by any means for 1 month, after which normal procedures for restoring drained ability scores may be used.

Symbiont Traits: See page 299 of the Eberron Campaign Setting.

Skills: An aberrant lens has +6 to Spot, and confers this bonus to their host. Two aberrant eyes do not confer this bonus twice.

Special Note: If an aberrant eye is removed, the character loses all vision on that side (as they no longer have any eye) and take a -4 penalty to all Spot checks. If a character has two aberrant eyes and both are removed, they are considered permanently blind (only a regeneration will cure this).

It's a Japanese comic that is about small organisms that exists in a realm that cohabits our own reality, this organisms are called mushi, and the experts in dealing with this creatures are called mushi-shi.

When this organisms infects a living being they can alter them and even grant them special abilities, like the far seeing. Mushishi was made into an anime a few years back and some of the chapters of the comic were made into the animation series chapters, it's totally recommended.

Huh. That does sound pretty cool. I might look into it. Thanks for telling me about it.
