I'm curious, Playground: what is your favorite homebrew from the Playground's Homebrew Forum? Preferably one not made by yourself. Do you have a homebrew that you just couldn't help but include in your game? Or is there something that while not mechanically appealing, just grabs your attention? If so, what and why?

Just to kick off and get the obvious one out of the way, Fax's D20r (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132683) is nothing short of impressive in terms of quality and effort involved. Check it out when you can.

So, what have you?

FFX-d20, by Zeta Kai. It's a pretty huge project, and I have to say, it appeals to me because I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy X.

Off the top of my head? Jack Mann'sFar Realm (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3410915&postcount=5%20Maneuvers%20of%20Madness) discipline, Fax Celestis's ToB Core Class Update (http://wiki.faxcelestis.net/index.php?title=Tome_of_Battle_Core_Class_Update), Demented One's Scarlet Bravura Discipline (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5569037), Vorpal Tribble's Broken (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10905) template, Eldan's new planetouched (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109785), Krimm Blackleaf's Axiomatic Believer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81166), uh... I could go on for a while.

I like T.G. Oskar's Healer, from what I can tell. Never played it, though.

Karma Guard's Dragoon (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58445). Great class for fun with spears while reliving some of my favorite Final Fantasy characters' abilities through D&D gameplay.

The new Butler base class is awesome. My character in my RL game is taking one as a cohort ASAP!

The broken. One of my favorite templates ever. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10905)

War-Marked (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124700) is pretty cool.

Fixed it for ya, Milski.

Seconding the vote. It could still work a bit better, but for the target levels so far (1-13) it offers a variety of nice options. I'm still in testing process to see if it works nicely for purposes of random choosing, since that would measure just how good it works with little to no optimization, but with the right choices and feats you can make worthwhile martial-inclined characters. All I'd need to see is how Doc Roc and his PD builders work the last 7 levels out.

That is one hell of a template. I am going to throw that onto something. Interesting point: It doesn't give a penalty to any casting stats. Nyahaahahahahahaahaaaa!

If you are talking about the one I linked...it doesn't really add anything to casters either.

Also if you like it most of Tribbles stuff is good. Linky (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4776919)
Krimm_Blackleaf (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4589069&postcount=50)
Krimm is another critter makes of extraordinary talent.

FFX D20 - Nice, balanced, and consistant with the setting
D20 Rebirth - Some pretty good ideas in that one
Ultimate Classes - I like the path system and the flexible classes

Theres also a fair portion of one-off classes and diciplines, but I'd be here all day trying to find and list the specific ones I like.

AstralFire made a pretty sweet soulknife fix. It has tome of battle, psionics, and useful class features!

It's not on the GitP forums, but I feel compelled to mention the "Rebalanced Paladin" homebrew. It fits the Paladin concept much better than the stock Paladin, in my opinion.

I'm a fan of the martial variants of the base fighter barbarian and paladin.

BTW, in before "Lightning Warrior."
