So A group that i meet with irregularly is changing the game over to pathfinder.
im 50/50 about that, irrigardless. I want to play a transmuter into swiftblade. More martial then caster(as i plan on taking swashbuckler levels).
I need some help on my spell selection and my feat selection.
The other unfortunate thing is that we are level 1.
I am currently trying to get the GM to let me play a focused specialist.
he is also hesitant to pull spells from the spell compendium, but he said he would consider some.

Currently my character is
specialist transmuter wizard 1 (enchantment and evoke prohibited)
Elf

I took dodge as my feat.

Spells right now are
magic weapon, enlarge person, mage armour, shield, feather fall, cause fear, true strike.

I cant change any thing but spells as of right now. I am looking for advice for playing a gish type caster from 1 till i get Swift blade(7).
Also any suggestions on must haves from spell compendium.
Hes running us through the heavens fire/some lantern quest thing put out by pazio. any way any advice would be awsome... been crusing the gish threads.. but it all seems like advice for 7+

Mithiral Twilight (PHB II and MIC, I think another printing also exists) Chain Shirt is about the only armor you can wear without extra class features. It's good to have. You should be able to get it under level 7.

Just play batman till you get into swashbucker. You haven't lost a caster level yet.

If you are taking swashbuckler levels don't be an elf. The only reason to be an elf is to avoid diping for martial proficiencies. The con hit hurts (and a dex bonus is not worth it).

Grease is a spell you may want to consider. A flatfooted foe is handy even without precession damage.

And seeing as how you a level 1 wizard, watch out for cats.

Swiftblade Handbook (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19871410/The_Swiftblade_Handbook)
Heres a list of spells I was recommended to take, pared down from what's in the handbook.
Most of the spells in the handbook come straight from a batman wizard guide. And I believe they're chosen to make you a primary caster with melee as a backup, rather than the primary melee with caster augmentations you want.
1st Level Spells:
Grease (PHB)
Mage Armor (PHB)
Nerverskitter (SC)
Shield (PHB)
Fist of Stone (CArc) (Less useful for you because you'll be doing int to damage instead of str.)

2nd Level Spells:
Mirror Image (PHB)
Wraithstrike (SC)

3rd Level Spells:
Haste (PHB)
Dispel Magic (PHB)

4th Level Spells:

Dimension Door (PHB)
Polymorph (PHB)

5th Level Spells:
Acid Sheath (SC)
Baleful Polymorph(PHB)
Teleport (PHB)

6th Level Spells:
Disintegrate (PHB)
Contingency (PHB)
Greater Dispel Magic (SC)

7th Level Spells:
Energy Absorption (SC)
Force Cage (PHB)
Limited Wish (PHB)
Prismatic Spray (PHB)
Reverse Gravity (PHB)

8th Level Spells:
Mind Blank (PHB)
Polymorph Any Object (PHB)

9th Level Spells:
Time Stop (PHB)
Gate (PHB)
Shapechange (PHB)
Wish (PHB)

Actually PF Elf gets Dex and Int for Con, which makes it a much better trade off.

I took dodge as my feat.

It's a shame you can only change spells. If you could change feats, Expeditious Dodge (Races of the Wild) counts as Dodge, is better than Dodge, and synergizes with using haste.

YA PF'S dodge feat adds a solid +1 dodge bonus to ac... no picking targets just a general +1 so it is Superior to both.
