View Full Version : If you got a D&D Diety tattoo...

Doesn't matter the edition, just wondering what everyone would get and why?

I'm a few days away from getting Olidammara on my right bicep :smalltongue:

It's an awesome picture, but too complex for my budget atm

You remind me of when I met somebody with an old-school Malkavian clan tattoo. After the OWOD went asplodey, it just struck me as irrelevant and out of date.

Before you have something from a hobby permanently inked on you, ask yourself how you'll feel in another edition or two when most people have forgotten what that meant.

Have to agree with this one. Bahamut would be my second choice.

I thought about that, but long story short 3.5 was my groups intro. into D&D and my first character was a Cleric of Olidammara. So even if more editions are cranked out and it gets washed away I'd like to remember my first character :smalltongue:

I'm a fan of the Raven Queen in 4e. But I wouldn't get a tattoo of a fictional deity when there's so many badass (and vindictive) real-world ones.

I LOLed.

I seriously thought about getting Kord's symbol when my brother offered to give me a free tattoo (he's a tattoo artist, don't worry), but I ended up going with a sort of tribal-ish gecko. *shrug* You never know if you'll still like Kord in ten or twenty years, but geckos are forever.

There's always Pun-Pun.

Of course, there's always Elagune's work, in the OotS Manga thread. He's rather deity-like in the world of mangafied Order of the Stick land.

The whole thing would be in a black band around the body part and there'd be spells written in that band by leaving parts of the skin untouched.

... I'd say Denier or Sune.

Probably Denier. Eye over a candle. Very mystical. But Sune does look like many of the girls I fall for...

What? I've a taste for ginger girls. Jessica Rabbit, Sune, a few of my exes, all good looking red heads. I wouldn't mind one on my body somewhere :smallwink:

If I were getting a tattoo? Corellon Larethian's holy symbol, 3.5 version:

http://s89384171.onlinehome.us/corellonsymbol.png

Probably upper arm or somewhere on my chest. Back would be good for a large version of it but I'd want to be able to see the damned thing myself once in a while. :P

And if I ever got sick of Corellon or even D&D in general, it's still a pretty crescent moon that most people aren't even going to question. :smalltongue:

Harperfan7

At first I was going to say Corellons,
A: because I love elves and all they stand for
B: I love chaotic good
C: I love the moon
D: Silver and green are my favorite colors
E: My real name starts with C

but then I realized it would have to be Trithereon instead, because he represents what I'm all about better than even Corellon, who is a close second. (Although if I could get both, I probably would).

(Although if I could get both, I probably would).

I was going to go for Corellon and St. Cuthbert, since I like both Deities and the color scheme went nicely, but it's "first tatt free" at my cousin's shop so I chose Olidammara :smalltongue:

Haven gotten my Vampire: The Masquerade clan tatoo a few months back, this wouldn't be too far off.

If I was going for one, it'd probably be Vecna. It's a boring motive, a hand and an eye, but somehow it's just badbehind.

St Cuthbert or Olidammara. Probably somewhere not very noticeable...I've always been of the mind that tattoos are trashy. Still, I might make an exception for a D&D one, except that I hate needles.

If not then, probably not.

hamishspence
2009-12-27, 01:35 PM
D20 Cthulhu does raise the possibility of his cult existing in a D&D setting.

I think the earliest copies of Deities and Demigods, way back, had the Cthulhu deities, but later on they were removed.

So, in a sense, Cthulhu could be considered a D&D deity.

In that case, I'd probably get something like this something like this:

A skull tattoo, the least original tattoo in the world? Really?

No, because he's a Great Old One.

hamishspence

in Chaosium, yes.

In D&D, his "deity power level" is translated as Demigod, and his domains are Evil, Death, Destruction, Water.

How would you like your smiting?

Also, I never noticed that the whip in Loviatar's symbol has a bone for a handle. That's a nice extra-evil touch.

The only tattoo I'd want to have IRL would be a crusader cross on the back of my left hand, so if it had to be a D&D deity it would be either St. Cuthbert or probably the Silver Flame.

You would get a tattoo that says "No Leeching"? :smalltongue:

As for myself, I think a tattoo of Ulutiu's symbol (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/b/b0/Ulutiu.jpg) around the upper arm would be nice, and not look too silly outside of D&D. A stylized version of Eilistraee (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/b/b7/Eilistraee.jpg) would probably look pretty cool, too.

Then again, I am unlikely to get a tattoo - and D&D would not be my first reference point if I did.

1st: "Deity"

2nd: Off topic, I would say that a transmutation circle from FMA would be a cool idea. a guy I know got one from the end of the first series inked on his arm. Looks kinda cool

3rd: Hmm... dnd deity...

It is a Pathfinder deity, but Zon-Kuthon (http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Zon-Kuthon) is kinda cool for the skull theme.

Skulls for the skull theme! -cough- I'm sorry, not sure what came over me.

As for the actual question

The Undying Court symbol would be good, if difficult to get right.
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/eb_gallery/82936.jpg

The design wouldn't come out shiny enough (after it healed, that is) but there's opportunity for some very good shading in there. Like the silver flame one, though, it would make a better necklace than a tattoo.
