I once had in my possession a comic book about Caliphear, otherwise known as "Nightmare," that midnight-black, fiercely-blazing, four-hoofed soaring harbinger of swampy death. I liked the art style, and the story was basically a retelling of a standard magic game, which I found interesting.

Does anyone know the name of this series, and if there's a collected edition of said series available? Also, I remember a preview for an "Arabian Nights," series at the end of the comic, which seems worth looking into for the art alone. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I paged through one, and despite overtly impressionistic styles, I found the underlying composition to be too manneristic. The figures seemed to strain and float around on the pages, without being solidly placed on the page. The ethereal haze effect in every panel only made the figures' odd substantiveness more obvious.
