I was wondering what everyone thought were the most interesting (both mechanically and fluffwise) special materials in a D&D 3.5e game. On a related note, is there a consolidated list of materials somewhere?

Crystalkeep (equipment) (http://www.crystalkeep.com/d20/rules/DnD3.5Index-Equipment.pdf) page 43 has a list.

Personally, I like Wildwood. It's similar to mithral, and now Druids can wear breastplates.

Shadow Silk from tome of magic is pretty cool for the right type of character.

Thinaun. Steel, except that it also eats souls.

Pandemonic Silver. If raised into the wind, it creates a howl so terrifying that everyone around you must save or cower.

Both from Complete Warrior.

Riverine from Stormwrack. Allows your armor and shields to give a deflection bonus!

Blue ice (from Frostburn) is kinda neat. It's ice that's as hard as steel and remains frozen at room temperature. can be used to make weapons and armor, or as a building material.

That's incredibly useful, thanks. And Wildwood is cool, because CoDzilla needed more nice things:smallwink:.

@JasonP What does Shadowsilk do?

Shadowsilk gives a bounus to hide and move silently, increases max dex bonus, reduces armor check penalty, and in areas of shadowy ilumination reduces arcane spell failure. Also it is lighter and will repair itself in shadowed areas if it takes damage but is not destroyed.

I prefer a pandemonic silver arrow. Only 1/50 the price!
