I tried to edit this post, and was given an error.
Forbidden.
You don't have permission to access /forums/editpost.php on this server.

I don't really care, but it did mean that I double posted.

You weren't by any chance discussing a deoderant, airline, compact excavator or constellation were you?

Not this time, but close.

Well, there was probably something in the post which the server blocked. The usual problem is "lynx " (lynx followed by a space), something that all of my previous suggestions could have been (though the compact excavator was a bit of a stretch). I'm really quite surprised that no forumite chipped in to offer an explanation of my unusual question...

Another problem I have seen is rare and I have not completely honed down to work out what caused it exactly. But I do know one thing, it was something in particular followed by two spaces. Simply changing it to only one space fixed the problem. Seeing as browsers reading HTML will not allow you to see the second space anyway (it will automagically collapse it back to one space), you should avoid using multiple spaces in posts.

I literally copied, and pasted. I then added that I couldn't edit. I'm not sure why it wouldn't allow the edit, but didn't mind the copy and paste.

I'll try to avoid mentioning that cat, and double spacing from now on.

I just want to see if it will do the same to me...

Lynx

EDIT: Linx?

Right, can't do it a second time. I guess it took a second to process the word, then decided the post would be forbidden. Or something. You basically have a ten second window.

Incorrect. There needs to be the exact phrase "lynx " (or, possibly, "Lynx "). Your post does not contain the space after the word.

I got the forbidden screen when I pressed submit on my reply to your comment.

Also, the way you said "incorrect" kinda irks me.

Oh… wait…

I think I misread the section I quoted. I meant to say we’re confused as to what the problem could be if it’s not the lynx problem.

Well, me, I’m just plain confused about everything, though. :smallwink:
