Breaking up posts with lines...

I'm sure i've seen it before but can't find code to do it. Some posts are broken up by a dense black line or what looks like a quote box with nothing in it and i'm wondering how this is done because it would be a nice piece of formatting to have...

Or just extending an underline to go the whole width of the screen?

It's [hr]. Just that, no closing tags or anything.

Oh, and if you edit the post, it changes to <hr>, the same as [br], so you'll need to update it.

Edit: Oh, and previewing also changes it to <hr>, so yeah.
