I thought many of the comic book fans would want to hear about this:

July 12, 2006

Stan Lee's LightSpeed, the latest in a series of POW! Entertainment's projects, will premiere on NBC Universal's SCI FI Channel. The live action Stan Lee Original, will air the evening of July 26 @ 9pm ET/PT.

Stan Lee, the master storyteller and creator of the modern day superhero, lights-up his newest superhero "LightSpeed" in an original film for the SCI FI Channel. The film is produced by FWE Picture Company, Jeff Franklin ("Stuart Little"), Elie Cohen, directed by Don E. FauntLeRoy, written by Steve Latshaw and John Gray, the cast of stars include Jason Connery, ("Wishmaster 3: Beyond the Gates of Hell," Dominic Senatori on "Smallville," and son of Sean Connery), Daniel Goddard ("Beastmaster"), Baywatch's Nicole Eggert, and "The Six Million Dollar Man," Lee Majors.

This superhero drama is the story of Daniel Leight, AKA "LightSpeed," played by Connery, an agent that discovers he has super powers as the result of a near lethal mishap. Goddard, Leight's nemesis in an experiment gone bad, becomes part man -- part snake, morphing into "The Python." The action takes place as LightSpeed uses his ability to run at the speed of light, to thwart the slithering evil doings of the Python.

POW! Entertainment Inc. (Purveyors of Wonder) is founded by world famous motion picture and comic book icon Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, The Hulk, and Fantastic Four, together with award winning producer Gill Champion and intellectual property specialist Arthur Lieberman esq. Collectively they bring to POW! a vast plethora of experience that assisted in the creation, production and structuring of some of the most successful character franchises of all time.

From what I pasted above it appears that Goddard plays The Python.

I wonder if The Python's friends call him Monty? ;)

So this is what, Stan Lee coming up with yet another superhero?

Sounds like it might be fun. Of course I don't get the Sci Fi channel, but I'm sure that Space will have it shortly afterwards.

Yes, it appears to be a new Stan Lee superhero.

What is Space--something like Canada's version of Sci Fi?

Yep. It doesn't have any original series, but it does tend to pick up the SciFi channel originals, like Battlestar Galactica.

At least eventually you get to see good American shows.

Hey, speaking of Canada, did you know that Wolverine is actually Canadian?

Sure did, born James Howlett in Toronto he moved to Alberta after killing a man with his mutant powers. Gotta love the 120 year old man that doesn't remember more than the last 25 to 30 years.

As for American shows, yeah sometimes I miss not getting US channels. But at the same time I get great Canadian shows that you'll probally never see, like Wonderland.

James== Logan

HOW?

Took the name of the man he killed to hide. By the time Weapon X turns up in his history he can't remember anything except that his name is Logan.

The following should help.

I always thought that Wolverine's mutant power was his Health Regeneration, and the scientists of the Weapon X project exploited that, bonded adamantium to his bones, and tried to turn him into a weapon?

But then again, most of my Superhero knowledge comes from the 90's animated series, and the movies.

It was along with generally heightened sense. It was expanded upon greatly as the character evolved. In fact he's one of the few characters where it makes sense to throw in unexpect powers since he basically knows nothing of his past beyond a certain point.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a discussion on the speed of light in Stan Lee's work
