The people complaining about how "there's no point entering now" or somesuch: We have been very worried about rates of entries lately. Back in the day, contests could reach 6 pages or more. More recently, we're lucky to get to 3. So when people start saying "well why should I enter? It's not like I'm gonna win..." I just about want to cry.
This contest is meant to be about fun, creativity, and both exercising and displaying one's skills. The prizes are nothing but a motivator. So qwitcherbitchin and start illustratin!

Guys (and gals), you will never know what will strike the fancy of a judge. Yes, amazingly done pictures may have a better chance to win. But it often happens that I vote for the idea more than the rendition of it. If you happen to draw something that makes me laugh, that is touching, that is related to a movie/book/game/etc. that I really like, etc. well you have as much chance to be picked than an uber cool picture that doesn't ring a bell or strike a cord for me. :smallsmile:

All of this to say: don't get discouraged, 'cause you'll never know. :smallwink:

And I must stress the word ANYTHING.
I found a particular nasty colony of ants eating (or rather drinking) windex.

We had like, 2 weeks without using it at all (it smells a lot, I would have noticed the use) and each week we were running lower and lower on the window-cleaning liquid.

I was originally going to make a danmaku battle between Yuuka and Marisa (Nightmare Spark), although I didn't have enough time to sprite out Marisa. So, here's my last, one-hour quickie entry =p:

memnarch, that would make the ending impossible though, as she would be unable to get the package over. (Or at least it would require alteration of sorts. I'm impressed already that she managed to throw it over this precisely and close to the wall.)

I agree, the comic was really good. I must admit that I became somewhat disappointed when the stunning revelation (i.e. the messaging scene, where they turn out to be the opposing generals) turned out not to be especially stunning at all, but that's perhaps a matter of preferences.

Otherwise, I really liked the story concept, and I'm alredy reworking it into one of the stories that I've got spinning around in my head, just like I always do when I stumble upon a good concept. I really should try to write some of them down one day...

I'll be the first to complain that the word "amazing", along with "awesome", has had its meaning degraded by overuse. However, I don't think there are words other than those to describe every single entry in this contest. Going through the thread, each new page brought new delights, and I'm extremely flattered that they were, in part, drawn to please me. I'm not lying when I say it was tough to judge. This time around, since there are so many high quality entries, VT asked us to pick our top six in each category, rather than top three. I judge by going through the thread, copypasting the titles of my favourites onto a shortlist (and I really do mean my favourites, not just the ones I think are good) then narrowing it down from there; each category had at least ten entries on the shortlist. The majority? Had about twelve. Choosing six to drop was one of the hardest things I've had to do all month. And I've just finished my end of year exams.

I'm honestly really sorry to everyone who doesn't win an award because frankly, you all deserve one. Keep up the good work!
