Well, other people have art threads, so why can't I? Hello, Im new and all :P This is my ''art''. If you dont like it ... You'll make me sad. Critique is appreciated

So, I think I'll start off by misleading you. I dont normally do more realistic stuff, but I had an art class this spring, and I didnt have much of a choice. Charcoal is a fun medium BTW.

I don't like it.
Then again, it's too abstract. And I loathe abstract art, unless it's photography.

Awww ... Really Abstract? Huh. Haven't heard that one before. Could have at least given some crit ... :smallannoyed:

Well, anyway, on to more normal things ... "normal" anyway.

Yay Cherry Blossoms. Their so pretty (IRL anyway :smallwink:)!

Two-Face from the Batman ... I drew this in class, but the teacher never found out :D

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/179/2/1/Taurus_by_BaconBoy914.jpg

Some weird Minotaur thing from a Manga called Fairy Tail. It's called Taurus (how original :smallannoyed:).

Probably only said he didn't like it because you expressly said that you'd be sad if someone did. Kinda hard to resist when you put it in those terms :D

So if I don't give critiques, I can't give my opinion on abstract art.
Jeez... *Epic Facepalm*

Okay, here goes:

First piece: I call it the Ear Crazy-nude-twisted-lady Cavern.
All I see is some patterns that could well be the inside of an ear.
And a figure that could be a woman making contortionism.
The image is weird, I see no point in it, and though I do like carbon and monochromatic art, this one, frankly, is something I dislike.

Second piece: I call it Pear Statue guarding the two-color cave.
That looks like a pear in two colors. Two colors that are impossible to get on a pear, excepting a rotten pear, or a very fake wax pear.
The thing in front of it could pass for fabric coming out of a basket, but it could also be, well, nothing, just random strokes.
And the part that's behind said weird pear looks like some neat cavers.
Would like it if the pear wasn't there.

Third piece: Bag and Jewels, I'll say.
It's that. A bag. And some jewels. Frankly, too simple for my liking, not to mention some of those jewels look plain weird.

The deviant is not gonna be rated.

Now, on to the next, not-so-abstract pieces:
The flowers look nice, great detail, and the color/shading is pretty damn accurate.

Two Face Harvey is not my personal favorite. The wrinkles in the shirt looks awfully weird, the gun is also weird, and the face, well, the face is a whole different story. The hair looks somewhat nice, but the balding of the burnt half of the face loos like he's made of metal. It's simply burnt bone and muscular tisue, so the light reflection in it is not so good.

Taurus, on the other hand, I like.
Simple, nice color for the parts that aren't monochromatic.
My only complaint would be the muscular marking in his belly. If he were facing the viewers in such a way, then the right side of his abs (the viewers left side) would looks closer to the right side, not closer to the center.

There. Critique.

Now, if you don't like what I said, then be wary: "If you ask questions, be ready for the answers".
You clearly made an easy target when you said "If you dont like it ... You'll make me sad." Why?
Well, because you ask for opinion, but you don't want people to tell you they don't like it. I told you why I disliked. If somebody doesn't like something, he's got his reasons, and clearly doesn't HAVE TO give critique.
You want it, there it is. But once again: Be ready for the answers.

I ... What know, thats not what I was trying to say. I was just saying you could have said why you thought they were abstract in your post. So, I suppose I'll explain what the "Abstract" pieces are. I can totally see how you got that though. I forgot I didnt say what they were suppose to be. Hehe. Sorry

Ah. Yeah, that was a weird one. It was eggs with a sheet background.

See for this one, we had two differently coloured light sources. And we only had two pencils to use, a blue one and a brown one. Thanks for the honesty.

D&D Dice sitting on their bag actually, but close enough.

Thanks a lot, that piece is one of the most time consuming Ive ever done :)

... Yeah. Well. Didnt have a reference ... I messed with his burnt half a lot, and that was the best looking one I came up with.

Looking back I see that too.

Thank you. Thanks a lot :)

Mehh ... I really dont know why I said that ... Thanks for the critique, I want expecting so much, it was greatly appreciated.

I feel like I should post more art ...

The main character for a manga I was thinking about doing. He got slugged.

A crossover fan art from Naruto/the Simpsons ... Apparently Im not the first person to have such an idea.

Concept art of the assassin from the previous post. That manga idea has been scrapped for now though.

I really like this one. I think you should pursue this style as well as your cartoons. Then again, that's up to you, not me. :smalltongue:
