In honor of our new overlords and those who have moved on, I have created a new base class, The Moderator. The class is generally focused on combat and preventing others from doing things. Any criticisms or suggestions are appreciated.

The Moderator
Moderators are the guardians of the universe. They ensure that everything functions as intended and are willing to go to extreme lengths to do so. Not all Moderators are necessarily good at their jobs, but they all have certain abilities that make them powerful foes. Even powerful characters and classes tend to fear their nullification powers.

Alignment: Any. While Moderators tend toward law, there are rogue Mods who use their power to sow chaos and disruption and there are others who simply don't care so long as everyone (especially themselves) is having fun.
Abilities: Wisdom is necessary for the use of many of the Moderator's class abilities. Charisma sets the DC's of several class abilities. Dexterity is important to hit with the ranged touch attacks of many of the class's abilities. Constitution is important for hit points for the class. Strength is necessary to help the class deal damage. Intelligence fuels many of the class's skills.
Hit Die: d8.
Skills: 6 + Int
Class Skills: Appraise, Bluff, Concentration, Craft, Decipher Script, Diplomacy, Disguise, Forgery, Gather Information, Intimidate, Listen, Profession, Search, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Spot, and Survival.
BAB: Medium
Saves: Good Fort, Poor Ref, Good Will

Class Abilities

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Moderators are proficient in all simple and martial weapons, light and medium armor, and with shields (but not tower shields).

Warning (Ex): At level 1 the Moderator may warn opponents. The Moderator takes a standard action to make an attack and, if he hits, deals normal damage and makes the target reroll initiative for this combat, with a penalty equal to the Moderator's Charisma score. A target may only be affected by this warning once per encounter.

Watch (Ex): Beginning at level 2, Moderators may select a target to focus on throughout the encounter. The Moderator gains a +2 attack bonus against this target. Upon reaching level 6, the Moderator may take a free 5-foot step anytime the target moves as a part of a move action. At level 10 the Moderator may make ranged attacks of opportunity against the target, as though he threatens the spaces in his line of sight with regards to his watched target. At level 14, the Moderator may allow allies within 30 feet to gain these benefits.

Comprehend Languages (Sp): Moderators of at least level 1 may use Comprehend Languages as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to his class level.

Simple Edit (Ex): Moderators who reach level 3 may perform simple edits on reality. The Moderator must select a target within 30 feet and succeed on a ranged touch attack; this attack may reduce or increase the target's HP by double her Wisdom modifier. This damage may ignore any hardness, energy resistance, or damage reduction.

Energy Shield (Su): Beginning at level 4, a Moderator may create shields against various forms of energy (though these are typically used against fire damage). The Moderator may make one shield per day per point of her Wisdom Modifier as a swift action. These shields may be placed on any target within 30 feet of the Moderator and last for 24 hours. The Moderator must select a type of energy damage to protect against at the time of casting. These shields provide Energy Resistance of 1 per level in Moderator.

Temporary Ban (Su): At level 5 Moderators may create temporary bans on existance. The Moderator takes a standard action to make an attack. If the attack hits, he deals damage as normal and makes the target paralyzed and ethereal for 1d4 rounds unless the target succeeds on a Will Save (DC 10 + 1/2 Class Level + Charisma Modifier).

Improved Edit (Ex): Moderators who reach level 6 may perform improved edits on reality. The Moderator must select a target within 30 feet and succeed on a ranged touch attack; this attack may move the target up to 10 feet. The target may not be more than 100 lbs per point of Wisdom modifier. The Moderator may not use this ability on fixed objects (such as walls), but may use it on attended objects (such as weapons), though for these the Moderator also needs to make a successful Disarm attempt, but may use her Wisdom in place of her Strength.

Pierce Magical Concealment: Beginning at level 6, Moderators gain Pierce Magical Conceal (see Complete Arcane) as a bonus feat, whether or not he has the prerequisites.

Clairaudience/Clairvoyance (Sp): A 7th level Moderator may use Clairaudience/Clairvoyance as a spell like ability with a caster level equal to his class level.

Ethereal Sight (Ex): Beginning at level 8, a Moderator may see ethereal creatures and objects. The Moderator sees ethereal creatures and objects as being shadowy and can tell that they are out of phase with reality. This ability only works out to 60 feet.

Greater Edit (Ex): Upon reaching level 9, the Moderator may perform greater edits on reality. The moderator must select a target within 30 feet and succeed on a ranged touch attack; this attack may add or remove one of the following conditions on the target: Blinded, Deafened, Exhausted, Fascinated, Frightened, Sickened, or Stunned for 2d4 rounds. Each round after the first the target may attempt a Will save (DC 10 + class level + Charisma modifier) to break the effect. A target may only be affected by a Moderator's greater edit once per 24 hours and may not be affected by multiple greater edits at once.

Ban Hammer (Su): At level 10 Moderators may infuse their weapons with the ability to ban opponents. As a full round action, a Moderator may make a melee attack. If the attack hits, it deals 100% extra damage and the opponent must make a Will Save (DC 10 + 1/2 class level + Charisma bonus) or else become paralyzed and ethereal for 1d4 hours.

Delay Effect (Su): Level 11 Moderators may delay the effects of instantaneous spells and spell like abilities as a swift action. With a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + Spell Level), the Moderator may identify a spell that is being cast (but not its target) and, if it has a duration of instantaneous, may delay the spell's effects by 1d4 rounds. When the spell is finally cast, it keeps the same target that it had before if that target is still a valid target, otherwise the spell fizzles. Spells and spell-like abilities that have been delayed are still considered to be cast by the spellcaster.

Mass Simple Edit (Ex): A Moderator who reaches level 12 gains access to mass simple edit. This functions like Simple Edit, except that the Moderator may select a number of targets equal to her Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) within 30 feet as targets.

Ethereal Jaunt (Sp): Beginning at level 13, the Moderator may use Ethereal Jaunt as a spell like ability with a caster level equal to his class level. A Moderator may use this a number of times per day equal to her Wisdom modifier (minimum 1).

True Seeing (Sp): A Moderator who reaches level 14 has a permanent True Seeing effect, with a caster level equal to his class level.

Mass Improved Edit (Ex): A level 15 Moderator gains access to mass improved edit. This functions like Improved Edit, except that the Moderator may select a number of targets equal to her Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) within 30 feet as targets.

Action Moderation (Ex): Beginning at level 15, the Moderator may use Action Moderation on a target within 5 ft per class level which he has line of sight on. As a standard action the Moderator selects a target who must make a Will Save (DC 10 + 1/2 Class Level + Charisma Modifier) or else the Moderator can nullify one of the target's actions per round as an immediate action for 1d4 + Wisdom Modifier rounds. The Moderator may wait until he finds out what action the target is taking before declaring that he is stopping it from happening, but may not wait until the effects (including any die rolls) have taken place. A target who has been affected by or has resisted a Moderator's Action Moderation may not be targeted again for 24 hours.

Rapid Greater Dispel Magic (Sp): Moderators who reach level 16 may use Greater Dispel Magic as a spell like ability with a caster level equal to his class level. Additionally, the Moderator may use this ability as a swift action for purposes of attempting to Counterspell.

Immunity (Su): Level 17 Moderators gains immunity to various effects, bending the rules of the universe. Moderators no longer need to eat, drink, or breathe and they no longer age (acquiring neither age-based bonuses or penalties).

Mass Greater Edit (Ex): Starting at level 18, the Moderator gains access to mass simple edit. This functions like Greater Edit, except that the Moderator may select a number of targets equal to her Wisdom modifier (minimum 1) within 30 feet as targets.

Lock On (Ex): At level 19 a Moderator can constantly track a specified target. The Moderator must have seen the target. Whenever the Moderator closes his eyes, he sees the area within 100 feet of his target, but not the target itself. The Moderator cannot become flat footed against the target and always knows if the target is traveling toward or away from him (but not exactly how far away he is). The Moderator may only track one target at a time. If the Moderator goes a week without encountering the target, he loses these benefits against that target. Selecting a target is a full round action.

Permaban (Su): Level 20 Moderators know the tricks of entirely removing a target from existance. Once per day as a full round action a Moderator may select a target within line of sight to eliminate. The target must make a Will Save (DC 10 + 1/2 class level + Charisma mod) or else be killed, have the body completely removed, and have its soul completely destroyed. A creature that resists this effect is protected from future attempts with this ability by the same Moderator.

First off: Basically everything this class does is a will save or lose, which is rather... meh. Besides that, delay effect can't work (it's a swift action, and it would need to be immediate to counter stuff), and permaban is way too powerful, because there is little in D&D that can prevent a creature from being resurrected by any means. Otherwise, it's just "will save or lose" as a class feature at most every level, or some minor passive at other levels.

Allow miracle to return a permaban, aka higher powers deemed their offense was deemed lighter. Or wish, aka hackers.

Comprehend Languages (Sp): Moderators of at least level 1 may use Comprehend Languages as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to his class level.

But but but!
Speaking in anything that needs to be translated to English is against the rules partly BECAUSE not all Moderators will know what it means. How about a bonus to attack rolls against creatures that don't speak Common? :smalltongue:
