The code is

(SPOILER) stuff you want spoiled (/SPOILER), replacing round brackets () with square ones []

Like that

There is also a button in the top right corner of the window where you write your post. Just click on it and spoiler tags will be automatically added

Pssst, strawberries, you can use tags to keep stuff inside of the tags from getting processed by the forum software. That way you don't have to do the whole "like x, but with y" comparison.

EDIT: you need a / before the 2nd spoiler. That demarks the end of the tag. Otherwise vB code thinks you are opening another spoiler, since you can nest spoilers.

so what does it need the back slash in the code?
and is it all together or seperated?

You learn something new every day. Thanks!
And I didn't know the existence of the thread you linked to. That's going to be extremely useful.

vB code works with a pair of tags. You have a start tag and an end tag. Everything between the tags gets modified by whatever the tags tell it to do.

so red text results in red text.

You can also nest them, which gets a little confusing.

small red text large red text yields small red text large red text

Note my formatting? small red text is wrapped with small size tags, large red text is wrapped in large size tags, and the whole thing is wrapped in red color tags. The easiest way to do it is to highlight the text you want to modify and click the appropriate button in the editing panel above the text box. This automatically gets all the syntax right.

Yes, it needs the backslash.

Alternatively, since you seem to be having trouble, kindly glance at the post box, just above where you're typing your text. You see the little speech bubble with the word "spoil" in it to the far right? Just slightly above and to the left of the smilies? Click that. Then write your spoiler content inside the resulting tags.
