View Full Version : Does anyone here have any idea how to make gloves?

I've been trying to find a pattern, but all the advice I've been able to find amounts to "cut open a cheap pair". I can't find anything on how to make a properly fitted pair of gloves, much less a pattern I can modify.

Any ideas?

This? Seems rather simple, I'll probably make some for myself this coming cold season.

It's a start. I could do with more details, advice on sizing, etc though.

Glovemaking book, published 1950 (http://www.vintagesewing.info/1950s/50-hmg/hmg-toc.html) for techniques and cutting a basic pattern to your hand's measure. Short yet thorough and full of common sense. I have the impression that this was written by a professional, not a home sewist.

A few years back Vogue published a few funky gloves patterns, but I don't know if they're still in print. I would just make a mock-up from Mr. Saturn's link from a fabric I could sacrifice, then cut the new glove apart on the lines where I wanted the seams to go, and use those cut-outs as new pattern pieces.

That's exactly what I needed, thanks.
