Hello all.

In a few weeks I will be running an Iron Heroes game and, for that particular game, will be introducing several titans that the PC's must work to defeat during the campaign (in a similer fashion to Shadow of the Colossus). The actual setting itself will be very low magic* and I'm looking to try and make these titans unique and powerful, but I'm starting to run low on ideas.

What I'm looking for are creatures that are big, and I mean really big. So my question to the playground is thus - What kind of fantasy-esc creatures could you see being scalled up to enourmous heights?

*By low magic, I mean very little. I'm not allowing the Arcanist class, though some NPC's do use a very, very low-powered variation of it. So certain creatures such as say...a Phoenix may not work, since without magic such a creature couldn't be reasonably killed.

Colossal Iron Golems?
If just it's feet fill a 30x30 ft. space, the creature itself should be about 500 ft. tall.
If you're going by Shadow of the Colossus, that's one more reason to use golems. If they're not big enough, you're the DM, right? Just make them even bigger, maybe "Monumental" or something.

I'm trying to avoid using Golems though. I'll probably make one, but as I said I want to make as many as unique as possible. Size catagories shouldn't be an issue since well...I'm going to be pushing that limit anyway.

I suppose it might be better to word my question as "What creatures work best as oversized titans?" - So something like a Golem or Giant would be great, but something like a pixie wouldn't.

How about a stag or hercules beetle? Everyone loves a giant bug.
And a bear.

Giant Squid?

Really Big Dinosaur. Colossal T-Rex.

Giant Ant. (http://readrant.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/ant-attack.jpg)

Any kind of insect, really.

These are Epic monsters, but just change the stats while keeping the flavor and appearance intact. Each has a picture as well (click on the eye button by the name):
The Xixecal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/abomination.htm#xixecal). Godspawn of ice and cold.
The Hecatoncheires (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/abomination.htm#hecatoncheires). Godspawn with one hundred limbs. Needs to be sized up a bit, but would be scary as all hell.
The Colossi (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/colossus.htm). Supersized golems.
The Devastation Vermin (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/devastationVermin.htm). Supersized bugs.

The following are just images I found that might work for you.

The Leviathan. Perhaps a sea-snake of some kind.

I... I don't even know what the hell this thing is, but a huge version of it would make me scream in terror and run away as fast as possible. :smalleek:

I figured one Space Pirate should be in here, and he'd make a pretty good gigantic monster, or so I think.

You should try to make one titan for each movement type.

Flying: A Roc or Thunderbird.

Swimming: RELEASE THE KRAKEN.

Burrowing: Any kind of sandworm derivative could work here.

Walking: Colossal Golem

Climbing: You have to admit that a spider the size of several city buses climbing along the side of the Himalayas would be quite a sight.

I was actually thinking of something like this, though maybe also including the idea of different terrians (one for a cold desert, one for warm, one for forests etc).

Great ideas so far.

A colossal, three-eyed wolf with a base land speed of 200 feet and a run speed of 2000. A tornado emanates from its tale, causing destruction and chaos in its wake.

A gigantic aquatic lion with gold and green-flecked scales, and a deafening roar. It movements cause tsunamis, and its cry inspires terror in sailors.

A towering, three-headed abomination the size of a mountain. The mother of all hydras, this creature slumbers fitfully. Her true mass rests deep underground... her rage causes the volcanoes around her to erupt.

A shimmering, silver tiger the size of a cloud. Thunderstorms and violent hail trumpet its arrival.

A tortoise the size of an island. His interior is filled with the remains of countless vessels, and a race of darkness-dwelling parasites. He can create maelstroms and can shoot streams of water.
