Skyline- worst movie ever?

You'd think brainsucking cyberzombies from space would be cool, but no.
I like movies like this. They give me hope that someday my own crap might get onscreen.

Plan 9 was very bad, yes, but only because it was horribly edited. They had to piece it together from scraps of another movie due to the mid-shoot death of the star, and they didn't do it very well. If it were remade, I think it could work.

To this day I wonder how I got through the movie. And I thought for years after seeing the movie that it was something from the early 90s. It was made in 2004.

I really can't imagine Skyline being any worse. I can't imagine any movies being worse except something from Asylum.

I did'nt watch it but I did read the plot discription on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_(film)) and long story short, there are alot of unanswered questions at the end that make no sense at all and basically humans lose.

So yeah. The movie ends on such a bad unsatisfactory note that I bet you felt angry at going. Humanity takes it hard with a "rocks fall everyone dies"

I found myself overall liking the movie. It has many problems(Lack of character development for most characters despite being a story driven movie, lack of direction in plot and theme, the ending(Oh, the ending. They should have ended it at the second to last scene)), but the movie itself was shot fairly well, with some good pacing(The scenes when a couple of people leave the room at the beginning, for example), and I liked the action in the movie.

And so what if humans lose? Do you fault zombie movies if they kill off all the main characters? How about Horror films? How about any tragedy in the last few thousand years? Generally no, so why fault this movie?

I'm assuming many questions weren't answered because it looked like they were angling for a sequel, what with the different "plot hooks" left behind, as well as the ending(Oh, the ending!).

It's certainly not good, but I can't say that it's bad, or even close to the worst movie ever.

I actually managed to see the movie literally without even hearing anything about it beforehand, and I didn't like it much. It's like they took Cloverfield, War of the Worlds, and Independence Day, mashed them all together, surgically removed anything resembling good dialogue or likeable characters, and made it uberdepressing and had a terrible ending. Still better than a lot of other stuff, though.

I thought the effects were good, the monsters were pretty cool, and I liked the ending (even if it was a touch trite and all about the power of loooooove!. Everything else was just... subpar, but not awful.

I wouldn't say it's the worst movie ever, but it is most definitely bad. I don't go to movies to be depressed and pissed off, and Skyline both pissed me off and depressed me. As said before, this movie just hits humanity with "rocks fall, everyone dies". Or, to be more accurate: "The aliens win, we suck, humanity's f****ed".

It was basically just War of the Worlds but less memorable, less well directed, less well acted and less good in general.

Dear lord. As an actual science teacher, with actual industrial and forensics training, I weep. I think using a measuring cylinder as a receptacle was the point where I lost it. OK, using a measuring cylinder AT ALL is a lab no no (those things are horribly inaccurate) but to do a reaction in?? My 14 year old pupils know better than this!

Yesterday I was in the lab again for the first time in probably about a year. And we had to fully suit up, including aprons and asbestos gloves. That was fun.

The most hilarious part is that they by this point in the movie don't know what they are trying to achieve. The plot goes something like this:

Military Dude: We must kill the monsters!
'Scientists': Noooes, they are far to interesting. We can just lure them somewhere where we can trap them.
Military Dude: How?
'Scientists': We don't know.
Military Dude: Get to work then.

Yeah, I liked the monsters.
But anyways, I imagine it more as an obligatory parasitic thing. Except, instead of living in/on the host, they grab bits of it. The creatures apparently need the brains of other species in order to function - although they seem to be able to go without long enough to grab another if one's damaged.Unrelated spoiler question:Anyone else find it weird that someone could apparently get organised enough to send a serious assault against the queen-ship-things, but not enough to send out an emergency broadcast? :smallconfused: I think that's the plothole that annoyed me the most.

In my mind, the worst movie ever doesn't have to be bad. It has to be so mediocre you want to leave. Not because it's bad, but because it's just BORING.

Example: A movie we saw last year was...really pretty terrible. Horrible, in fact. I literally thought it had been made in the 80's...it was made just a couple years ago. It's just utterly horrid. I think I got dumber watching it.

BUT long after seeing it, Oz and I STILL quote it at each other. We still talk about it to people. And we'd actually see it again. It falls in to So Bad It's Good because you can MST3K it. Our entire row was laughing throughout, although we tried to be mindful of the fact the directors were in the theater, too. But even that couldn't stop the amusement.


A movie we saw at the more recent film festival, I wanted to leave during. The ONLY reason we stuck around is we are friends with the folks who made it. Our friends we came with DID leave. It wasn't bad. Parts were really good, none were really bad. It was campy, but not in a bad way. It was just...meh. It was forgettable. I didn't lose braincells, but I regret the time I lost to that movie. This movie is worse than the above fil, in my opinion.

But the "Worst Movie Ever" will vary by person due to personal tastes. I couldn't stand Brokeback Mountain because it was insufferably boring (and I love 3/4 mains!), but apparently most others disagree with me.


That said...I don't have a worst movie ever. I've been to too many festivals and seen too many indie movies done by amateurs. >> If we're talking Hollywood Worst, probably Brokeback Mountain for m.e

Yeah, meh. It* was medicre but overall fun. I think I'd give it 2 stars - worth seeing (or rather, not something I'd recommend not seeing), but not really worth going out of your way to see.

One of the later Howling movies may be the worst movie ever made. It's extremely low budget, shot in a restaurant and a cheap motel. It tried to be 'realistic,' so it has scenes of people doing realistic things: a ten minute scene of people sweeping the restaurant floor (no dialogue), a cigarette break, etc. There are even people in the movie by accident, such as a scene where someone emerges from a neighboring motel room and quickly ducks back into their room when they see the camera and need to get out of it's way.

No, it was a later one set somewhere in the American southwest. The Australian one, Rise of the Marsupials, did have some problems of its own. In one scene, two old men are having a conversation on a park bench. Suddenly, a shot of a man falling from a tall building is spliced in, and then it cuts back to the men on the bench. There is no explanation for the scene, and it doesn't appear to take place in the same area. It's just a random shot that doesn't even seem to be from the same movie. Ah, quality cinema.
