Concatenation
Enchantment
Level: Sorcerer/Wizard X
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 10 Minutes + time to cast composite spells
Range: N/A
Target: Caster
Duration: See Below
Saving Throw: No
Spell Resistance: No

This spell allows a caster to create a small item that, when activated, will cast a number of spells of level 1-3 on the caster. The spells are cast at the time of the same time Concatenation is cast.

The object can take many forms, but must be made of 25gp of materials and be small enough to fit in one hand. Examples include gold dust placed in a hollowed out egg, a paper written upon in rare inks and folded or a semi-precious stone of a peculiar shape.

At any time before the spellcaster prepares his spells for the next day (or meditates, if a Sorceror,) the caster may take a standard action and speak an activating phrase. The item is consumed and the effects of the various spells cast when Concatenation was cast. If the item is lost or not used within the period of time, those spells are simply lost for that day.

The spells combined in Concatenation may only target the caster and must be arcane spells with a single person as their target. A caster may initially apply two spells to Concatenation, gaining an additional spell each Y levels up to a maximum of five.

What do you think? Help me figure out X and Y?

I'm not really sure about X and Y, but why is this an Enchantment spell? That's the mind control school. This belongs in Abjuration, Conjuration, Transmutation or Universal.

Should be a magic item, rather than a spell. A spell that casts 3 more spells for you, while handy for buffing yourself, is a little TOO handy to be something that you can just prepare at the start of the day. A magic item that does this at least requires more investment than just an hours preperation time.

Well, there is an infusion that allows an Artificer to do his, so scaling that up, it would be 6th level, though it should only allow spells with a range of personal, otherwise you're looking at silliness.

Y would then be every 3 hd, just to make it possible by 20th level.

How would you compare this to the Greater Spell Matrix spell from the Spell Compendium (p 199)?
