The halfling smirks softly, walking up silently, deciding to try and scare the fur out of Atreyu... Not only to be playful, that being her real nature... But also for the hidden possiblity of giving him a heart attack and he dieing. Easy escape.

Once getting close, she taps Atreyu.

*he leaps into the air with a loud startled bleat and whirls around, assuming a combat stance, ready to fight the podling of the Doppelganger Plant and barring his mind against its mental assaults. When its sees its not a Doppelganger plant, he relaxes only to jump again when he sees its Kerigan.* "Its YOU!"

Kerigan, for dramatic effect, strikes a pose, pointing her chin upwards with a smirk, Speaking lightly, "Yes, Its me." And then she kills the pose, standing straight with her arms crossed, grinning lightly.

Phoenixineohp appears next to Atreyu. She is sitting at one of the tables, her eyes trained on the halfling and she is toying with a dagger in her left hand.
"Mind if I join you guys?"

*The llama looks between Phoenixineohp and Kerigan and closes the book he was looking at, trying to replace it with a different one, while the two are distracted*

"umm..yeah...I was just looking up information on elves. Now where did I put that book?" *he keeps an eye on Kerigan, not quite sure what to make of her.*

"Hun, why didn't you just ask me? It's a lot cheaper than the deposit here." She smiles slightly while still staring at the halfling.

Kerigan smirks softly, raising a brow to the Llama before speaking softly, letting her blue eye give a wink over to Phoenixineohp, the impliance questionable, "Mm... Why were you looking in the Domain of Ravenloft book thing then?"

[Atreyu the Masked LLama]

"Because the knights always told me never to discuss kids with someone they are in a relationship with. Ummm....this is the halfling I was telling you about the other day." *he points to Kerigan.* "Inari made a deal with her though, so she's not gonna try to kill me."

*He turns to her with a pleading look in his eyes* "You're mistaken, it was on top of the elf book, I mean, I mistook the two. They have similar covers."

"I had a feeling who she was." Phoenixineohp pauses for a moment and turns her attention to Atreyu, a bemused and slightly confused look on her face.
"And... the rest of that... is interesting." She looks at him and tilts her head a bit.

*he blushes, caught, and confesses to his firebird* "okay. I saw how upset you were last night after the attack and so I thought I'd look up some common Ravenloft creatures, just in case. I didn't want to remind you, so I was gonna do it in secret."

Kerigan raises a brow slightly, smirking, "It has a skull on the front. And two creepy eye-things." However she lets it go, seemily, glancing over to the other woman again, glancing her up and down for a moment before smirking a bit more, glancing back to the Llama, giving him a eerie glare... Just to creep him out.

(okay, I ahve to go now to a friend's. I think I can get net connection there and he'll play Ape Escape 3, at the same time my laundry gets done, but if I don't come back in 10 minutes, then something has not gone according to plan)

*He does look a little creeped out, but if you'd just read about the Doll Golem, you would too. (biting laughter is nasty, I shudder when I think of what I will do with this book)*

Her face melts into a caring, loving smile.
"Aww hun." One of her wings reaches out and wraps around him in a hug. "That is so sweet of you. But the problem isn't going to be in the book. It's a bit of a long story about some things between Phoenix, some things in Ravenloft and I. And yesterday was a tough day. And, well, Phoenix didn't make it any eaiser. And the attack means things are moving along faster than we thought...." She trails off as she face starts to scrunch up with a bit of worry. Noticing the Halflings actions, she switches back to a poker face and looks back at her.
"Maybe be can talk about this at home. In private."

Kerigan can't help but raise a brow slightly, Although she continues her erie glare at Llama and parts her lips a bit to show the whites of her teeth, chittering them silently before stopping, smirking and looking back over to the other woman, however staying quiet.

Phoenixineohp's hand stops toying with the dagger. She looks coldly at Kerigan.
"I would appreciate it if you would leave Atreyu alone."

The halfling smirks, shaking her head softly, "Beleive it or not, susposely Llama wants to run off to avoid death or whatever. Least thats what I have heard... And being the subject kinda concerns me, I am keeping a eye on him."

Phoenixineohp stares at her and narrows her eyes.
"And who did you hear that from?"

*his scorn turns to nervousness about halfway through that sentence.*

The halfling simply shrugs lightly, waving her hand in a dismissing gesture, "Some folk in Trog's... I don't know their names." Keri spots Llama's nervousness, smirking softly, although not commenting.

Phoenixineohp switches her grip on the dagger. She grits her teeth a little.
"He is not going to run. You can keep an eye on him, from a distance."

*The llama nods* "You do kinda make me nervous."

The halfling shrugs lightly, smirking as she drifts into the shadows suddenly, appearing on the otherside of Llama, arms crossed, "Rather me do it in the shadows, when I could be right next to you at any time without you knowing?"

"Would you rather try it without your eyes?"

The halfling smirks softly, "I am just saying that the Llama might feel safer acually knowing where I am then anything else ... I can appear anywhere I want neigh-instantanously." This was a lie, being she had to have some shadow... And she had a daily limet. But they didn't need to know.

"He may also feel safer with you sitting in a gem on my belt. But I guess we will leave that up to him and you." She does a sickly fake smile at her.
"Stay away from him and leave him alone or I get to put in my two cents. Clear?"

The halfling smirks softly, giving a light hmph before disappearing into shadow once again.

... In reality she didn't go far, only about 5 feet, into the other aisle in hiding, summoning up a image, silently, of a zombie like Llama... Beheaded with its mouth gripping to its severed neck with ghostly wisps coming off it, and she lets the image float through the bookcase over to Llama's, going through the Llama before going through the other Bookcase and disappearing, Keri also shadow jumping once more away.

Phoenixineohp sees the image, and senses where it came from. She grits her teeth and puts a hand down on Atreyu.
"Seems like she just can't play nice... I'm going to have to have a chat with some people..."

Phoenixineohp sighs and wraps him in a warm embrace. Literally. The air around her and her skin feel warm to the touch.
"Lets go home." She smiles softly and teleports them out.

*The llama trots up to the lake, chats with Death a bit about ducks in a dungeon, greets Gloria with a happy bleat and a hug, and trots up to the library where he pays the 100 GP deposit and has Counnanh help him find some books on Ravenloft. Atreyu starts reading up on the different creatures that live there.*

*Death slows and reverts time backwards and has a large discussion if the absence of many birds around the lack, oblivious to the fact that they hide just around the corner waiting for him to row by*

"Very well, I shall have it delivered soon.

Well, I am quite sure that she wasn't on board, no one else saw her, but I wasn't exactly around for a while. We landed in the north after Mirage came... then we all went to a banquet...and we were attacked...and I had a scrap with a demon...and then I woke up here. Then the longship was attacked on the way back, and I sailed with El J to help her, and now she is being repaired. I think the banquet was when I saw her last."

"Hmm, what adventures ! And Mirage is missing. I'll see if I can find her." Amiria casts off the apron, gloves and goggles and leaves the the laboratory with Erdan although the apparatuses continue to bubble and steam furiously.

[Admiral One]

Erdan glances nervously at the experiments and follows Amiria.

"I have some other ships coming to join the Dark Viper. Salner can take the remaining crew to search for Mirage if needed."

[Amiria]

"Ok, I'll first try it with my Crystal Ball. As far as I know Mirage doesn't have an item with Mind Blank.", says Amiria and walks to the levitation shaft. "Do you want to join me ? You can also go back to your ship if you want. I can contact you with my Crystal Ball's telepathy power ... unless you have a Mind Blank ..."

[Admiral One]

Erdan shrugs.

"Epix and Bulzar are working on the repairs, I am not needed. I can come with you if you wish; after all, I may have a Mind Blank without realizing it."

[Amiria]

"Ok." Amiria leads you through the levitaion shafts and floors into her cozy living room where the Crystal Ball rests on a small table. She takes it, sits down on a couch looks into it, concentrating.

"Hmmm, uh oh !"

[Admiral One]

Erdan looks around and then moves to stand behind Amiria.

"Something wrong?"

[Amiria]

"Yes, she seems to be in trouble. I see her in some damp cave together with some decrepit people of various humanoid races. They are peaceful and talk with each other but they all seem to be very worried."

[Admiral One]

Erdan frowns.

"Can you pinpoint some form of location?"

[Amiria]

"No, I must cast Discern Location to get that information. I need some minutes to study my spellbook.", says Amiria and pulls a spellbook from her magic messenger bag. "But I first talk with her a bit, that's why the telepathy power of the Crystal Ball is so great."

Amiria concentrates again and in the image on the widescreen crystal ball Mirage suddenly twitches and seems to listen inwardly.

[Admiral One]

"Very well."

Erdan stays out of the way and watches.

[Amiria]

"Hmm, apparently she was indeed on your ship when it was attacked. She went overboard and almost drowned, but then she was captured by the sahuagin minions of a kraken. She was able to confuse the monster with her bardic powers when she was brought before it and then she fled with some slaves in the cave system under the sea.", says Amiria. "Quite amazing"

[Admiral One]

"Wow. What is their current situation?"

[Amiria]

"They are very tired and hungry .. and hunted by the sahuagin and other minions of the kraken. They are in a cave with many exits but don't know were to go."

[Admiral One]

"How long can they hold out? We may be able to reach them in time if they are not too far away."

[Amiria]

"Hmm, I can teleport to their location right now. Mirage can also read Teleport scrolls but we'll still need two runs to transport all those slaves. There are about two dozen people down there."

[Admiral One]

"That makes things simpler. Are the sahuagin and others close? Because I can fight if needed."

He is, after all, carrying 4 rapiers and 2 pistols.

[Amiria]

"Yes, they are near. You can help. Ok then we'll go ...", Amiria takes Erdan's hand and begins casting a Teleport spell.

((I don't know when we can play this, I don't have much time in the next days. Feel free to do other things in town, this event shouldn't constrain Erdan's action in town.))

[Admiral One]

Erdan closes his eyes, preparing for battle. He hasn't exactly been active these past few days.

((its fine, just pm me when you have time. I have been planning on playing with Salner a bit more anyhow.))

Erdan tries responding, but it comes out as more of a grunt. He manages to wrap only one arm around Amiria in response as his wounds - well, broken bones mainly - continue healing.

[Amiria]

((Ui, almost 4 weeks without a post here :smallsigh:))

Amiria and Mirage step back and watch Erdan.

"Interesting, see his wounds heal."

"How do you do this ?"

The people from the tower try to help the slaves, some low-level clerics are also there.

[Admiral One]

Erdan groans as his ribs settle back into place.

"It isn't me. It's my brother, Narcis. He's the one who was helping me in the cave."

He slowly gets to his feet and leans uneasily against a wall.

[Amiria]

"Oh, I didn't know that you have a brother. And why was he in you incorporeally ?", asks Amiria.

"Do you need healing or will it all heal by itself ?", asks Mirage

[Admiral One]

Erdan pushes himself away from the wall in an attempt to regain his balance.

"He-"

He collapses to the floor, but his wounds are completely healed. In fact, there doesnt seem to be anything wrong except that he is asleep.

[Amiria]

Amiria calls ome men from the tower with a stretcher and they carry Erdan to one of the guest quarters. A cleric examines him with a Diagnosis spell.

Amiria disappears into her study o ponder the question if she should raid the kraken's lair to free all its slaves and slay the beast.

Mirage stays with the freed slaves. A provisional camp is made on the shore of the lake for them.

[Admiral One]

There does not seem to be anything wrong with Erdan. In fact, he wakes up the next morning without any incident. He then goes to Amiria's study and knocks on the door.

[Amiria]

"Come in. Oh, it is you ! Are you alright again ? What's up ?"

[Admiral One]

"Yes, I am fine now; I suspect that my brother's powers are diminishing, however, which would explain my lack of energy after the healing. How are the former slaves?"

[Amiria]

"Well, they are recovering, but it will take time. Some of them were slaves of the kraken for all there lives. They have no idea of the surface world and are quite savage. But they are watched and cared, I conjured up a Mordenkainen's Magnificient Mansion for them as a provisorical shelter.

What's the story with your brother ? I still don't understand it."

[Admiral One]

"Ah yes, my brother. Hmm...where to begin? Well, I suppose a bit of background would be necessary. We were both born to a human mother, our father being an elf, but we were raised by our mother and our village's weaponsmaster. We eventually moved to the city, but by the time we got there, it was only me, my brother, and our human half-sister, who was soon adopted. My brother and I essentially relied on each other at all times, so he meant everything to me, along with the wizard who took me on as his pupil (not for magic, simply for education).
When my master was later murdered, my brother was framed, so he was executed by the city. I left the Imperial Guard and spent the next 20 or so years at sea, fighting skirmishes with the city's lords, and devoted the majority of my life to revenge, so you can imagine my surprise when I was fighting in the north - after meeting Mirage - and found myself in another plane, fighting a demon, when all of a sudden I am wounded mortally, and my brother appears. He healed me, brought me back to town, and turned my burns - which would not heal - into this rather flamboyant tattoo. Since then, he has been living within my body, sometimes leaving for short periods of time..."

He blinks and looks at Amiria.

"Sorry for reminiscing, it's been a long time."

[Amiria]

"An amazing story. I'm glad the you found your brother again ... in some way."

"The only downside is that I think he is getting very weak after healing me twice. He has not even returned to this plane yet.

By the way, what else did the kraken have? If he has more slaves, I might be able to free them in a full-on attack if he also has treasure. I can also give jobs to some of the freed slaves if you wish, my crew needs to be replenished after the sea battle, and I have more ships on the way that may need crew."

"You have some interesting ideas there. I suppose that the kraken has more slaves and probably also treasure, from sunken ships and stuff. I'll see if I can get more information about it.

About the slaves we've rescued, some of them might be willing to join you ... others probably not. It seems that some of those who might be best suited for your needs, mostly travelers and sailors that were captured by the kraken, have developed thalassophobia. I don't know, just talk with them in the magnificient mansion."

[Admiral One]

"Hmm...I actually have some business concerning my ships to attend to first. Is there anything else you wish to talk about before I go?"

[Amiria]

"Uh, not, not at the moment. Thanks for your help down there."

[Admiral One]

Erdan smiles warmly at her.

"My pleasure, I always enjoy a chance to excercise, or, you know, almost loose a lung. Makes life interesting."

He smiles again , then places his hat on his head and teleports out.

[Death, your friend the Reaper]

*Death quickly wakes up, has a quick look left and right for his employer. And then quickly starts patrolling the dock for likely ferry riders.

The top of the tower is shrouded in a thunderstom and struck by lightnings. Nevertheless, Amiria's gleeful cackle can be heard from somewhere up there, piercing through the sounds of even nature's fury ...

[The Fool]

The Fool approaches the fringe of the tower, gazing over at it with an intent stare. He glances around for the ferry and its infamous ferryman. He adjusts the dragon skull he wears as a hat and his fingers tighten around the golden mace he holds in his right hand.

[Renegade Paladin]

Gaheris flew overhead, completely ignoring the ferry, and alighted upon the landing platform. He approached the gate, careful to keep his hands away from his weapons.

"Hello? I seek an audience with the Lady Amiria," he said formally, to the guards if any are apparent or halfway shouted at the gate if no one is in sight. "It is a matter of business."

[Amiria]

Noone is outside. A guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif) opens one wing of the door and gazes at the visitor. "Hello. You want an audience with the Lady ? That might be possible. Who are you ?"

[The Fool]

The Fool stands around patiently, waiting for the ferryman to ride by. He holds out two gold coins, hearing that the infamous Reaper was fond of such trivialities as them.

Noone is outside. A guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif) opens one wing of the door and gazes at the visitor. "Hello. You want an audience with the Lady ? That might be possible. Who are you ?"
"I am Lord Gaheris Trollbane of the Church of Tyr," Gaheris told the guard. "I seek audience with the Lady Amiria to consult with her in a matter of arcane power. I am prepared to compensate her adequately for her time."

[He's wearing his normal clothes, but his usual iron cloak clasp has been replaced with his badge of office, the scales of justice atop a warhammer with two swords crossed in the foreground. Anyone who knows of Tyr's church will recognize it as a warrior lord's insignia.]

[Amiria]

"Alright, follow me. I'm Gloria", says the guard and walks back into the tower. You cross the impressive pillared entry hall and come to a levitation shaft. Up it goes to the 5th floor where you change the chaft at a guard post and go upt to the 20th floor. There you go up a circular stair and arrive in a small hallway on the 21st floor.

Gloria knocks on a wooden door - some muffled reply is heard - and enters, leaving you alone on the floor. After some seconds she comes back. "Yes, Amiria is in her office and has time for you. You may enter, Lord Trollbane."

[Renegade Paladin]

He gave a slight bow. "Thank you," he said before turning to enter the door.

[Amiria]

Amiria sits behind her big desk, which is cluttered with many books. The study is small but cosy, shelves of books cover almost piece of wall.

"Good morning. What can I do for you ? I am Amiria."

[Renegade Paladin]

"Lady Amiria," he said with a shallow bow. "I have heard much about you, but I don't believe we have yet met. I am Lord Gaheris Trollbane of Tyr's church, and I am here to ask you about commissioning the construction of a portal to Faerun. I understand that you are one of the foremost practitioners arcane in this known world, and hope that you may know how to work this magic or can recommend someone who can and will."

[Amiria]

"Pleased to meet you, Lord Trollbane. A portal to Faerûn ? Interesting. I can't work this kind of magic myself, but I happen to know someone who is a Master of Portal Creation."

Gaheris smiled. "Excellent. I would greatly appreciate it; I find myself with a sudden need to be able to move back and forth to the Realms, and I cannot always commission Captain Jaspero's marvelous ship," he said with something of a wry grin.

[Amiria]

"Hmhmmm, I will contact my colleague ... discreetly. His people wouldn't like it that he makes a portal for the church of Tyr. But he has great skill in the smoke and mirror game. And he can make magic items very fast, so you probably won't have to wait too long. Of course, he'll have to see the places which are to be connected by the portal."

[Renegade Paladin]

"That can be arranged," Gaheris said, the corners of his mouth turning downward slightly. "This work wouldn't be directly for Tyr's church, but for my knightly order, which comprises people from many faiths opposed to thievery and tyranny. My own lieutenant worships Sune. But still, I must ask: What people are we discussing?"

[Amiria]

"The drow. He is a Master of Sorcere in one their cities on my home plane. But he doesn't follow their dark gods. He has carved out his own secret, strange niche in their world.", says Amiria and points to a broom that leans on the wall. It has a black and silver shaft and the bristles of are colored in a flame pattern "See my Vhroom of Flying ? He crafted it for me."

[Renegade Paladin]

Gaheris' face adopted an almost relieved expression. "The color of his skin matters not to me. Just the color of his soul, so to speak." He turned his attention to the Vhroom. "And I must say, he apparently does excellent work," he said, turning an eye to the intricate coloration.

[Amiria]

"So, I will contact him then about this assignment. One question, excactly which locations are to be connected ? And where can I find you when I have his answer ?"

[Renegade Paladin]

"That's two questions, but I'll give you the freebie," he said with a small chuckle. "Messages left for me at Hammerbammer Blacksmithing (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37199) in the Town will find me in short order. The locations to be connected are a secret chamber in the basement of that shop and the chapterhouse of my order in Baldur's Gate. I must ask that the existence of this chamber be kept in confidence. It makes our work much easier," he requested, still smiling.

[Amiria]

"Of course ! Good, I will contact you soon about his answer. Until the, good bye.", says Amiria with an apologetic look to her books.

[Renegade Paladin]

"I am greatly obliged for your assistance, Lady Amiria," he said with a formal bow at the waist. "If you need my services in any way, do not hesitate to ask," he offered before turning to leave.

[Amiria]

"No, but thanks. I'm currently preoccupied in studies about some old spells. Good bye.", say Amiria with a smile.

[Renegade Paladin]

"Farewell," he said, stepping out of the door so as to not waste any more of the Lady's time.

Assuming no guard is there to escort him out, he goes to the spiral stairway to descend to the shaft he'd come up in. In other situations he might be tempted to poke around a bit, but he knew better inside a wizard's tower.

*Death takes the Fool across and discusses if one who follows a fool is more of a fool than the fool, waffles, and lumberjacks. He accepts the two coins graciously and gives a nod as the Fool departs to the tower*

The Fool nods in agreement to all of Death's statements and, after he steps off of the ferry Death should notice that the coins are actually not as they appear. That is, they are actually chocolate wrapped in gold foil.

He walks around the tower in an effort to examine its base. After he satiates his desire he wrapts softly against the heavy door.

A guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif) opens one wing of the door and gazes at the visitor. "Good evening. How can we help you ?"

Holly and Estone knock on the tower door.

"Hell ... o. Now they are all coming, huh ? Good evening. What do you want ?", asks the guard (http://www.giantitp.com/avatars/RedKnightGirl.gif).

We're looking for jobs.

[Amiria]

"Aha, what kind of jobs ? And do you have any credentials ?", asks the guard. "I'm Gloria, come in. We can talk there."

The two walk in.
What do you have open? I'm a Bard 20 and Holly is a fighter 25.

[Amiria]

"What, really ? Hmm, we could use a new guard captain. And a head librarian, this would give Counnanh more time for his own studies. Would you be interested in these positions ? The pay is good, but still not enough for your wealth-by-level guidelines. And it is surely not as exciting as adventuring, I'd guess."

Estone nods
We're mostly retired. We don't adventure much. We'll take the positions.

[The Fool]

The Fool bows slightly to the guard.

"Greetings, I am a seeker of knowledge. I have heard of your prodigious library from far away and I can see now why the tower is so famous. I am willing to pay any fees necessary, and maybe I can speak with the lady of the tower if she is willing?"

[Amiria]

Gloria speaks to Holly and Estone "Well, it is not sure that you have them yet. I'm just the door guard. You'll have to speak with Amiria tomorrow."

She turns to the Fool. "Hello, yes, you may visit the library. There is no fee involved anymore. As for an audience wit the Lady, I fear it is too late today."

Estone and Holly nod and teleport out.

[The Fool]

"Thank you my lady." He bows deeply and starts trudging up the stairs. He switches at the requisite levitation shafts and continues on until he eventually arrives at the first floor of the library. Fairly winded he glances around and approaches Counnanh.

"Greetings, I am a bard, a sententious poet if you will. I seek to increase my knowledge of the persons and tales of this land by way of your library. Do you understand?"

Counnanh glances up from behind a desk, putting down the pulp magazine he was flipping through.

"Of course I understand your prattling, its not as if I don't understand common."

"My apologies venerable elder. May I metaphorically start hitting the books then?"

"Sure, I think there are some placards indicating the different sections. You might be interested in Geography, Mythology, History, and some other Literature which I can't remember.

"You have my gratitude sir." He bows slightly, much less than he did to the guard outside, and hastily begins searching through the sections. Counnanh picks his magazine back up and bristles slightly as he realizes that the fool had called him old.

[Renegade Paladin]

Kern and Kaer pulled their boat up underneath the landing platform. Kaer quickly extracted a grappling hook from its place on his bandolier, affixed it to a coil of rope, and tossed it up, catching it on the edge of the platform as Kern tied the other end to the boat to prevent it from floating away. He and the ranger both started to climb up, clambering over the edge and approaching the door.

"Halloo! I bring a message for Lady Amiria," Kaer called out as Kern stood several feet behind him, hood pulled up and saying nothing.

He handed over the sealed envelope to whichever guard opened the gate. The wax seal was stamped with the symbol of the Tyrran war corps, the same one Gaheris had worn on his visit to the tower.

Lady Amiria,

I hope this message reaches you safely.

I will meet your colleague at Hammerbammer's blacksmith shop tomorrow or the next day, whichever is best for him. I greatly appreciate your assistance, and will recompense you in whatever manner you see fit, barring of course actions that would violate my oaths. I wish you all the best in all your endeavors. The gods be with you.

Kern and Kaer (somewhat belatedly) left after their message was delivered, murdering continuity yet again since Kern was already at Borin's waiting for the visitor with Gaheris.

[The Fool]

The Fool yawns mightily. He had gotten no rest since he had entered, yet his skin looked no more sickly and pale than it did normally. He had nearly exhausted the library's supply of history, mythology, and poems in his short stay, and many layed in piles around the chair he sought refuge in. He carefully and methodically replaced the large pile of books he had removed from the shelves. He sheepishly replaces the books The First Hero, Myths, Legends, and Fact, and a heavy red leather-bound tome entitled Tales from the Sea.

The Fool sighed and his coal black eyes darted around the library. He glanced over to a window and noted the bars on it. He stepped furtively passed the exasperated Counnanh. He glanced down the stairwell, noting the height. He unhooks his gold mace from a loop on his belt and runs his left hand over the ball atop the haft.

Various lines resembling cracks break out from the core of the mace, and a bright white light shines out of it. The cracks begin to converge, giving them the appearance of intricately designed runes. He raises the shining beacon above his head with his arm in a ninety degree angle.

There is a brief flash of light and then, nothing.

Estone and Holly go to the museum and wait.

A lady in red sits at a small table in the musem. She fiddles with some small weird mechanical gizmo and chats with a Nimblewright construct.

The lady looks up and puts the gizmo on the table. "Yes, the one and only. And you are ... ?"

Estone. And this is Holly. We're interviewing for the positions of head Librarian and Captain of the Guard respectively.

[Amiria]

"Well, welcome in the Silverthorn then. Do you have any credentials ? I want to be sure that you are qualified for the jobs and are of good reputation. Both positions carry great responsibility and affect my security, and the security of all others in the tower, and my books. Some of my books could do great harm in the wrong hands."

Estone nods
I've got 20 levels in bard and back at the Wardric Manor I managed the library. Despite being not as big as this, it was still a large library.
I've got 20 levels in fighter and 10 in Duelist. I've held my own with Ekrath, who's a demigod.

"Well, that's nice and powerful. May I ask why you left Wardric Manor ?"

Estone mutters about Ekrath going nuts.
We chose to leave because his veiws were conflicting with ours.

"Mhmm, say, as a bard, are you chaotic ? Managing a library requires a certain amount of order. And you, Holly are you lawful, would be useful for a guard captain, but I could live with a neutral one."

"Ok, then all is well. I give you the jobs. Counnanh in the library can introduce you to you job, Estone.

And you Holly, you can ask Gloria about your job, the guard schedule and stuff.

I'll give you the most important keys and teach you some of keywords right now." Amiria gives you some keys and teaches you some keywords. She also tells you the neccessary stuff about the vaults where - among other things like magic items and jewels - some dangerous books are locked away.

They nod. Estone goes straight to the library and Holly goes to take her post.

Estone meets Counnanh the Old in the librazy. he sits behind his desk and reads an OotS-Comic.

Holly probably goes to the entrance hall again. There she finds Gloria again. "We have four guard posts here, this is the Bronze Guard Post which guards the entrance, there is the also Silver Guard Post, which divides the servant's quarters form the middle tower. And the Gold Guard Post which divides the middle tower from Amiria's private quarters. Finally there is the Platinum Guard Post on the top floor which guards Amiria's private quarters from the other side."

Fenric frowns a moment, then looks up with a smile

Earin Duskwalker, dressed in a far more subdued fashion than was normal for the bard, arrived at the tower and crossed to the gatehouse.

"I am here to meet Vhroom Del'Zistrinni," he called out to the guards on duty, pronouncing the drow's name perfectly. "Lord Trollbane said I would find him at this tower."

Gloria nods and leads him into the entrance hall. "Wait here for a moment." She leaves through a levitation shaft and after two minutes she is back again with the two drow and Amiria in tow.

"Greetings, I'll open a Gate to to Baldur's Gate now. Good Luck on the other side." The two drow activate some magic items and they appear as fair-skinned surface elves. Amiria casts the spell and a the Gate appears. Some plaza can be seen on the other side. Vhroom and Iliamue wave good bye to her and step through the Gate.

The only advertised position for a PC that was never assigned before." The young archmage smiles and shakes Nightwing's hand. "Well, what will be your job then ? Hmm, managing the household of the Silverthorn, helping me, welcoming guests. You'll work together with the guards on the last task. Welcome to the Silverthorn"

((There is not as much traffic in this thread as in former times ... which is kinda sad. It is partly my own fault since I'm rather passive in town since many moons. Maybe things will change in the future.

Raistlin1040 has some new PCs here also (Holly the Captain of the Guard and Estone the Head Librarian) but he hasn't posted here since I gave him the jobs. So Nightwing or Holly would be the best PCs to welcome guests, whoever is the fastest ...

((You can just NPC the staff over at Trog's (found in the first post of Trog's Tavern) to give you something to eat, within reason. You can't always wait on Trog or El Jaspero or one of the other people there who play members of the tavern staff to respond to your whishes.

Same here in this thread with some nameless NPC of the staff like a cook. Or named NPCs like Gloria or Counnanh the Old, although these two won't serve you something to eat.))

Amiria takes a bath in her private quarters and sings loudly.

Gloria drops by and steps to Tereal. "The lady has returned. Uh, why did you buy all those sandwiches ? We have a well-equipped and well-staffed kitchen here."

I had nothing better to do and besides now we don't have to bother the cooks for a while. we can just grab sandwiches! (this is supposed be in blue)

[Amiria]

"Oh, but the poor cooks ! Now they have less to do. Cooking nutritious and delicious meals for us is their only purpose in life ...", says Gloria. She grabs one of the sandwiches. "Thanks, I gotta go to the Bronze Guard Post."

Amiria rises from the foams of her bath tub and puts on a bathrobe. Then she goes into her living room and switches on the wide screen crystal ball.

[Nightwing]

Gloria can you spare a few GP? I want to by a panting and am short on money.

[Amiria]

"Huh ? Don't you get a princely salary ? Hmm, here, I can spare 5 gp now. But I want them back.", says Gloria and descends through a levitation shaft.

Amiria rings for her room service and orders some wine and cheese and grapes and other delikatessen from the pantry and wine cellar.

Several people run to and fro and out of the tower to get help.

I was trying to stop a criminal. I almost beat him, but he grabbed a trash can beat me with it.

"A trash can ? Not many use those as weapons. Maybe he was one of thse Exoctic Weapon MAsters from faraway lands ...", says Gloria. "I'll bring you to your quarters. Come with me."

we did not have normal weapons. we were just using an thing in site.

[Amiria]

"Oh, must have been an interesting fight then", says Gloria. "Now off with you abed. You need rest. If you still feel bad tomorrow you should go to one of the temples in Town."

Nice weather in town today. The people of the tower make their first barbecue in this year on the landing platform of the tower. A variety of scrumptious odours wafts across the lake ... accompanied by soft music and laughter.

Amiria, Mirage and some others take care of the music and Amiria also casts some colourful illusions into the evening sky.

[Nightwing]

*Tereal starts to eat his hot dog and watches the illusions and listens to the music*

I already get a free room at the Omnishop. I have got another reason for coming by. Xan heard that Amira, the owner of the tower, is a powerful wizard with one of the largest libraryies in the world. Xan wanted to do some research on a few more foriegn spells, Crend on foriegn animals, and I have been looking for a place to get a good idea about local historical events. Do you know if Amira would mind if we used the library?

*Tereal leads them to the library*

[Vhaidara]

Wonderful! Come on Xan, Crend.
Lowering his voice so that only Tereal can hear him, Shadowbow asks
What were you doing at Dragon Manor?
He quickly adds Where are Blog and Fernis?

[Nightwing]

Oh. I was seeing if the man that lives there would come to silver thorn. It seemed like a nice thing to do. why were you there?

[Vhaidara]

I'm scoping out the landlord. I need to find out what the motives of anyone calling their home Dragon Manor are, as you should know. Where are Blog and Fernis? Trog's?

[Nightwing]

There at S.E.P.T!

[Vhaidara]

Very well. It's nothing urgent, just curiousity.

[Nightwing]

You want to attack Dragon Manor? you do don't you.

[Vhaidara]

(Oh, yeah. Just so you know, Xan and Crend are curently somewhere in the library.)

I might. It depends on the owners motives. If they named it Dragon Manor, they're motives clearly involve dragons. I need to find out which kinds. If they are metallic, I will have found an ally. If they are chromatic, you're asessment is correct. Does this library have some way of finding people in it? It's fairly large, and I don't want to spend a whole week looking for Xan and Crend.

Estone is in the library, translating documents from near-dead languages into common. He writes furiously on paper, nearly tearing it with his words. He looks up and sees Xan and Crend.
What do you want?

(Incase it would effect what you character said, they're both 10 years old. and human)

Xan looks at Estone unblinkingly. I'm just looking for a few spells that I heard of. I felt that this would be the best place to look.
Crend looks appologetically at him. We are sorry if we disturbed you. My brother isn't usually this impolite. Could you point me in the direction of the zoology books?

Estone points to the Animal section and puts away his papers. He then begins to practice a few of his illusions while watching the kids.

[Vhaidara]

Thank you, sir.
Crend then goes over and pulls down a few books about foriegn animals. Xan, however, continues to the magic department, where he quickly loses track of time in researching some of the great spells of the past. Both summon food and water through magic when they're hungry.

[Nightwing]

No not really. but I will help you look.

[Vhaidara]

Very well. I think that they should be on the 18th floor. I saw a map of the library and zoology and magic were on the 18th floor. Zoology was near the center, and magic was on[insert opposite side from us now here a.k.a. We're north, it's south.]. I'll get Xan, you head over and find Crend.

[Nightwing]

I saw that you left a note on the door. What did it say?

[Vhaidara]

To meet me here as soon as possible. I need to talk with the landlord before I can make my decision.

[Nightwing]

alright. But don't kill him.

[Vhaidara]

I won't. Not here, at least.

Shadowbow moves quickly through the library, finds Xan and Crend, and leaves.

[Nightwing]

Shadowbow, Xan, and Crend return, and await Landaro's arrival.

[Nightwing]

Ah, Tereal. Good to see you again. I'm waiting for Landaro to show up.
