What sort of stupid thing have you put in Craft? I've had Craft (Sandwhich) and a friend has Craft (Stick).

Or is this a local group thing?

I once had Craft (Calligraphy). This was in Vampire Dark Ages (was playing a monk, RL kind, not D&D kind)), not D&D but the point still stands.

The fun part was that I actually got to use it once to the surprise of everyone.
We got orders from our sire on a note, and were suspicious of them, and I was
allowed to use Craft (Calligraphy) to determine that our sire had been forced to write the note.

For a minute, I read Craft (Carotgraphy). I was thinking why was that stupid. Woops.

We created an entire tribe of gnome barbarians who took Craft (Cooking) to an art form once :)

Although I think my favorite random skills were Profession (Lawyer) and Knowledge (Contract Law). (Best investment my Chaotic character ever made. Drives Lawful types crazy when you can quote their rules better than they can.)

I (and a couple of my DMs once I suggested it) tend to give out free skill points for Craft and Profession which has lead to a few interesting ones. At one point I was playing a character with Craft (flower arrangements) because I couldn't think of anything useful that would fit her character. Strangely, it was more useful than some of the more obviously useful ones on other characters. Turns out a nice bouquet is worth a +2 circumstance bonus to Diplomacy at times

I am currently playing a character with over 200 skill ranks across various craft skills:

Craft(Gunsmithing), Craft(Weapons), Craft(Smithing), Craft(Armor), Craft(Alchemy), Craft(Lifeform), Craft(Stoneworking), Craft(Machinery), Craft(Architecture), Craft(Soul), Craft(Clothing), Craft(Clockworks), and Craft(Soulgem), Profession(Weaver).

He also had Craft(Jewelry) and Craft(Woodworking) at some point.

Of course one of his big schticks is an ability that lets him speak things into existence (even very complex things) as a standard action for 5% of their gp cost in xp so long as he can make the craft check, so they're not quite as silly as they might otherwise be. I'm just itching for the opportunity to speak a bar and all of its patrons into existence just to confuse pursuers, but it hasn't come up yet.

I tried to get Craft(Laws of Physics) but the DM wouldn't let me :)

Craft (Fireworks) and Perform (Fireworks)
Not as silly when you realize this is the guy who can manipulate any type of fire including fireworks. Next session I am actually going to kill a bunch of Knights (Evil Campaign) during the performance and get paid to do it by bystanders :smalltongue:

Craft (Taxidermy) is actually a prereq for Trophy Collector from PHBII.

I've actually seen more ranks in craft (Cooking) than any other aside from my ranger's Bowmaking in our campaigns.

In my Spelljammer campaign, one player wanted Perform(Whoopie). Sadly, I let it through:smalleek:

Another player had a bunch of ranks in Craft(Painting). Actually used it to make pictures of crewmate's missing loved ones (started as escaping Neogi slavery).

No truly a craft, but once in a throwaway game with my sisters, my younger sister was forced to take Profession (Jerk) when she couldn't decide her skills.

Essentially, it was a plot device to get her to roll a die so that any bad situation could become her fault.

Profession(Midwife) on a cleric. It actually came in handy--not for delivering babies, unfortunately, but for identifying the horribly mutated spawn of a cosmic horror currently camping out inside an innocent peasant woman...

Profession(Midwife) on a cleric. -snip-

Hmm... I've actually taken that before as well, but I had a cunning plan for it.

See, I was playing a Changeling at the time, with that one feat from Races of Eberron that let me emulate race perfectly, counting as the appropriate race for all effects pertaining to race.

Cue the Surrogate Parent Service. Husband's unable to perform? Duplicate him down to every look he's got, 9 months later, assist with the childbirth and collect. Barren wife? Same deal. Kid even comes out a member of the appropriate race, elven for the elves, human for the humans, etc.

It was a grand plan, but alas, few are the campaigns that offer 9 months of contiguous downtime...
