I'm a Game Development student at Carleton University (the one in Canada). This semester I'm working on my second year project, and I'm looking for a sprite artist.

My teammates and I are making a 2D fighting game, on the level-of-sophistication of Street Fighter II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_II). The specific style will be closer to airdash fighters like Guilty Gear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guilty_Gear_%28series%29), though slightly simpler.

We're planning to include two characters and use a four-button system. Given more time, I'd love to do a larger cast, but for now two will have to do.

When the game is finished, it'll be added to the library for the Carleton Computer Science Society's (CCSS) custom arcade cabinet. They're currently building the cabinet- the hardware's just gonna be a PC, with the cabinet around it and the arcade sticks attached. They're planning to have a fairly large library of games created by the Carleton Game Development Club, which I am a part of. The game will also be made available to download online.

If you decide to get involved, you'll be credited for the artwork you contribute. Unfortunately, I'm a poor university student and I can't afford to pay anyone any actual money for their work. Thus, I completely understand if nobody is interested in this. I figure it can't hurt to ask around, though.

Here's the list of actions that would need to be covered for each character. These would not have to be complicated animations- we don't mind if things are a bit jerky. Animation is hard for both artist and programmer, so we'd prefer to keep things simple. Even if it's just one or two static sprites, that's still great.

Standing idle
Crouching idle
Crouch blocking
Being hit
Knocked down
Four standing normal attacks
Four crouching normal attacks
Four jumping normal attacks
3 special moves
One super move
(Optional) A stage background

All of this doesn't necessarily have to be done by the same person, but the art style has to remain reasonably consistent. The style itself is completely up to the artist. I have some idea what I want the characters to look like, but I'm very open to different interpretations. OOTS style would be fine. Non-OOTS styles would also be fine. Whatever you want to to draw, it'll look better than if I tried to do it.

Here are the character concepts so far. And again, I'm open to suggestions or different interpretations of the characters.

Fischer is a female mage who uses storm-themed attacks to keep the opponent at bay and slowly wear them down. She can attack with lightning bolts for damage and thunderclaps to knock down. She can also teleport by disappearing into a mini-cyclone. Up close she's a bit vulnerable, however. Her super move is a lightning storm that hits the whole screen, but cannot be comboed into.

Fischer has blue eyes and long black hair. She wears a coat and a gray scarf. Her hair and the scarf are always blowing around, due to the wind that surrounds her. Although her magic is loud and a bit unpredictable, Fischer herself is almost always calm. (You know what they say about the eye of the storm.) I looked around for some sort of reference picture - the best I could find was this (http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs43/f/2009/123/5/6/Claes___Gunslinger_Girl_by_harle_shiru.jpg). The gun and the glasses aren't relevant, but the hair, clothing, and expression are close to what I had imagined.

Glenn is a spear-wielding warrior who excels at close and medium range. At medium range he has a fast stab attack and a slower attack that pulls the opponent in closer. Close up he has good normal moves and damage. He also has a flash-step style move that lets him advance more quickly. Glenn has to work to get close to his opponent, but once he does, he has the advantage. His super is a strong spear thrust that he cannot be hit out of.

Glenn is a tall, thin man with short black hair and tan skin. He's dressed in loose white clothes (or alternatively, a gi, like the one Ryu (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/d/d4/Ryu-tatsunoko.jpg/250px-Ryu-tatsunoko.jpg) wears, but with sleeves). He wears black martial gloves (again, like Ryu's). The spear he carries should be a fairly simple shaft of wood with a metal point, about as long as he is tall. Best reference picture I could find was this (http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs6/f/2005/027/f/f/warrior01_2.gif). Swap in white clothes and black hair, and make the spear-point simpler, and it'd be pretty close.

If you're interested in getting involved, post here or PM me. If not, feel free to comment on the characters or make suggestions. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to read this!

I'd have a look in this forum (http://pixelation.wayofthepixel.net/).

It's a spriting forum with many good spriters that I used to frequent. Just make a post in the job offer section and you're bound to find someone willing to help you out.

That looks great, thanks! I'll definitely put something up there.
