Hi guys and gals

I am in need of the playground's hive mind's great knowlage today, say I was watching a video on youtube and I paused the video and wanted to save the picture that was in the window at the time, what would be a way of doing this, I have tried print screen but I just get a copyed image not the image on it's own that can be saved or uploaded.

Thank you. xelliea.

There are multiple programs that can download a video from YouTube, but a picture file can't be extracted from those formats. To get the actual file, you'd need the movie production file, which is, of course, only on the moviemaker's computer.

Of course, if it's a high-res video, a screencap of the fullscreen video might be good enough.

You could just screen capture the still.

You could Google search how to. For me, there's a key with prt sc and I have to hit another key with it.

I have found that an application called MWSnap is really handy for taking snapshots of stuff on your screen.
The good thing about it is that you get to choose only exactly what you want instead of getting the entire screen or an entire window.
This means that you don't then have to go to Paint and crop the image before saving it, but just open paint - paste - save.

Print screen gives you a copy of the entire screen. If you then paste that into Paint, you can crop it down to just the video.
