View Full Version : Which looks better?

So I'm wondering which of these images look better? One is done with the outline, the other I simply removed it. The image is some sort of cloaked demon guy with batwings.

outline:

no outline:

Oh! And I did the outline in ink, then scanned it in and colored it (basically just coloring in the lines). Here's the outline with no color:

I like the outlined version, but it's simply because I like thick, bold outline. Herge and Fujiko F. Fujio are two of my main inspiration.

I like the outlined one since on the non-outlined one, there's some spots where it looks a little funky because it was colored with an outline and now there's none. What might look really cool would be to keep the outline, but make it in shades of what it's outlining so it wouldn't be quite so obvious, but it would still be there. If that's too much trouble, I'd just go with the outlined one. (I love the wings, by the way!)

The outlined one. The not outlined looks blurry

agreed, outline wins, non outline looks smudged.

It definitely looks better with the outline.

I'm gonna be against the flow here and say outlined.

What? Everyone else are against the flow too, okay?

Yup, definitively outlined.
The plain color look somewhat blurry.

The edges look kinda funky in the non outline one. If you cleaned up the edges then the non outlined one would be better

Yeah, I'm noticed all my images I do in this way could probably work without the outlines. I was just looking for some feedback.

While the one with no outline gives it that painted look that really seems to fit the subject, the edges (as previously mentioned) are too rough. You should find a way to fix that as I really like it

That's one thing I link more about the un-outlined one.

Hey. Got another image. It's not done as I have to do the background. The art is stylized, and it's supposed to be done in a "Munchkin" (the card game) style. The title is "Solo XP's for ME!!!"

Yes but the difference is a little glaring though.

The edges should be a little shrper on the belt, loincloth and axe on the non line version, as it is it looks like the loincloth is a different excroissance of his body.
It looks a little weird in tthe hand too, like the axe is taped to the back of the hand rather than holded in.
