Another forum I visit has a TinyChat room that they wander into periodically, so I decided to steal the idea for this place.

You don't need an account or anything; just click the link, choose a nickname and you're in. Setting up your webcam and mic are simple few-step processes that work wonderfully. S go plug in your web cam and headset, come in and say hi.

Hmm. I don't have a myspace, Bookface or twittr and it says I need one to 'sign in.' Also, do I need a webcam?

I guess I'm not sure what makes tinychat a thing. :smalleek: I'm not very internet savvy.

When it asks you to sign in with myspace, twitter or facebook there's a section underneath those that says "don't have any of those?" Toss in a nickname in the adjacent text slot and you're in.

As for the webcam or mic, you don't need either of those to simply chat.

If anyone wants to watch Khan and I quietly study/do portfolio work, hop on in!

As tempting as that sounds... according to the time stamp it was 3am when you posted and I was fast asleep in bed :smalltongue:

This is tempting and when I'm actually at home I may check it out. It's likely blocked here at work for one thing and for another, it could be grounds for instant dismissal if I was caught on it at work and as much as I don't like my job, I need it.

And on that note... what's next on my list of things to do?

I'd totally peek in sometime if TinyChat weren't blocked in China. :smallfrown:

Hmm, cannot connect from work apparently. At least it isn't outright blocked liked most Youtube videos.

I'm on now, but I'll be kicked out of the downstairs in a mere couple of hours for my cousin's trombone lessons.

Question: what is the advantage this TinyChat has over the unofficial GitP IRC channel?

I don't know. All I know is that I have no idea how to use the IRC channel, and this one requires much less work to log on to.

Question: what is the advantage this TinyChat has over the unofficial GitP IRC channel?

Probably that most people don't know about the IRC channel.

TinyChat has voice chat and webcam support. I use the webcam option all the time, but I prefer to type over using voice chat even though I have a mic.

IRC on the other hand possesses all the advanced functions that make IRC so popular, but as a simple chat program I find TinyChat to have more use.

Webcam/IM thingy. Personally I find IRC to be a more effective way at communicating like this.
