He means that the series that caused all this pony craze is the new one, not the old one, and so people's avatars are inevitably going to be in the new one's artstyle, so a banner in the old style is likely to be misleading.

I'd like a different Pony avatar for Pony week if it's not a huge problem.

Midnight blue body, light blue mane, the color of Trixie's would be good. A mane like Trixie's with a tail like twilight's and a highlight the color of Twilight's mane on both.

A spellbook cutie mark would be good or something to indicate an affinity for magic.

It's a combination of the Boston Massacre and a span where the mods banned every user who posted pictures of ponies, whether they were relevant or not. Especially for 4chan.

It's because the ponies got everywhere, derailing threads and causing massive flame wars and stuff, so the ponies were restricted to one thread on /co/, and posting them anywhere that wasn't that thread got you at least a daily ban.

Every pony, when they grow up, get's a special mark on their flank that partially defines them. Mine has my usual skull, for example, and on the OP banner, Rarity, the white pony, has a bunch of diamonds as a cutie mark.

I'm trying to envision my avatar as a pony. I'm just not sure what color it should be. Maybe light pink with a darker pink mane? And maybe a teddy bear mark on its hip? I think that sounds good, if it's not too much trouble. :)

That seems a little soon. There were 3 weeks between mirror week being decided and it having started.

I think 3 weeks is a good time to do again so that the avatarists don't kill themselves from over exhaustion.

Well, the outer edges are rough because I saved an anti-aliased version against a none-white background, in fact the yellow wheaty colour that is the background for the avatars. Or do you mean the hair?

The outer edges in all.
I know that most of that is caused by the simple limitations of .gif format, but even the inside portions of your lines are pixely.

Well, I think what he means is that it looks like it was partially resized in paintbrush. It just looks a bit... rough.

I don't understand this comment. The body shape and model is recognizably G4 Poni, and beyond that there's this thing called artistic license. Like... there's tons of ponies out there trying different colors and styles and quirks and sundaes and sunbeams and sarsaparilla, and nopony complains about those being "improper"...

Well, like I posted in the third now-locked pony thread... I'm not particularly talented at drawing, then went and totally ignored the available species, then as if that were not enough, I ignored the coloring conventions (Simple, few colors), and THEN I totally ignored the coloring style. It's totally improper style! :smalltongue:

I don't know how to call it, but it looks a bit... uneven. Like it was drawn by hand. Compare this:

Left one is line drawn by hand in Paint, right one is drawn by using 'bendable line' option, looks much smoother and more even. That is the best I could say.

Hmm, maybe I should make a tutorial 'how to make a pony' in vector program, as opposed to all these tutorials for bitmaps that appeared here?

Oddly enough, it was drawn almost entirely in the bendy line tool in MS-Paint. Oh well, I got the other one sketched out,I just need to translate it into Paint.

Um, yes, but it looks like you erased too much in a few places, creating the 'uneven' look, especially in the rightmost leg. It seems you draw everything using the same line, and it overlaps too much in a few spots. Otherwise, it's good.

Hint - if you want to draw a new line, say, overlapping with the old, draw it in pink, or other bright colour, so you could clearly see it, and so that you could easily erase unneeded black parts of other lines overlapping with it, you can then colour it black later.

Well, anyways, time to start collecting ponies for the great big banner. Here's what I want:

Send an email to [email protected]. The subject line should include the word "Pony" somewhere.

Include as attachments as many ponytars as you can. I want high-resolution versions (at least 500 pixels on one dimension), or better yet the original svg file. Ask your artist before sending to me; they might have the svg laying around and we prevent a lot of double submissions. Send multiple emails or compress the files if you have to; I'd rather sort through a bunch of emails than go through file-hosting sites if at all possible.

With any luck I'll be able to get it put together within a few days of the end of the theme week. :smallbiggrin:

I am just kind of weird about my avatars and when I put on "gimmick" ones and how long they stick around for and stuff and unfortunately it came at a bad time. I'm only sad that I only saw it now and not before the (official) end of Pony Week. But from Saturday to Sunday I had a 22-hour D&D session and after that I was very fatigued, nay, exhausted ! I think we broke a record that stood for 10 years by 2 hours.
