You can't upload your avatar directly to this forum. It has to be linked from some image sharing site such as Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/), Imageshack (http://imageshack.us/), or DeviantArt (http://www.deviantart.com/).

Simply click one of many large upload buttons there after making an account, and then copy and paste the direct link into a little box at the bottom of your options tabs in your User CP area and make sure to click the custom avatar bubble.

Which means, as long as you have internet connection on either, you can upload it to the forum.

I did this, but as you can see, It is huge. Help! I've tried fiddling with photobucket for an hour. Frustrating!:smallfurious:

How big's the file size? And what program are you using?

Well, that problem is fixed, but I now have the problem of it being tiny.

MS Paint is the program I am using. I am so confused.

Maximum dimensions for an avatar is 120x120 pixels. The forum used to resize images automatically, but not anymore. You need to first resize the image so that the largest dimension is no larger than 120 pixels, then reupload.

I fail to see how that's gonna help him in this situation. <_<

What does inkscape do in the first place? And how will it help me?

It allows you to expand the image to any size you'd wish so. Then save it as any format you wish and upload them.

Adobe Illustrator and, I'm sure, a whole lot of other programs can do it, too.

If you're using Photobucket - as you appear to be doing - upload your original image again, and when you're in the image (on Photobucket) click "Edit -> Resize" (the menu may only come up when you have your mouse over the image itself). There you can enter in the dimensions you want it to be (max 120px), and save it at that size.

What is the average size of an avatar?

There's not really an "average" size. Your avatar can be no larger than 120x120 pixels.

Ergo, as with the speed limit - that's the upper and lower limit on the road.
(there are few people who go for lower sizes)
