I look around to see if there's a rock or sturdy stick on the ground. If there is, I'll take a move action to grab it and a standard action to attack. I'll assume either works like an improvised club.

The green-cloaked Druid makes a quick gesture to his wolf, which lunges at the barbarian, fangs bared. He moves away from the fearsome barbarian (60 ft, directing the wolf to perform a known trick is free.

Wolf moves and attacks the barbarian, I chose "attack" as myb1 bonus trick. [roll0] damage: [roll1] Trip attempt [roll2]

really? i thought he just took it at a penalty but if he doesnt get one at all then thats great. :smallsmile:EDIT ok my bad and i was gona refrain from casting the 1st levels unless necessary which considering he is downed with a wolf and knight within range he didnt seem that much of a threat.

As Aria opens her eyes and looks at the chaos around her she tries to remember.. but the headache isn't helping much.

Man.. why am I'm always getting into trouble, surely it can only get better fro...

As if the gods heard her and laughed, the wild man rushed out from the bushes.

Offcourse...

I don't see anyone using actions to stand up, we are standing allready?

Looking carefully around the battlefield for a chance, Aria tries to keep some distance from this obviously ill-tempered man.

Okay come on Aria, you can do it, making one perfect action is better then twenty failed ones...it's five vs. one, what can possibly go wrong?..
...Maybe I shouldn't have said that..

Truly impressed by the actions of the others, Aria sees the man fall down to the ground taking one hit after another. Then all of a sudden she sees the sword.

now!

I rush at the prone barbarian trying to disarm him
Since he is prone, he can't make a aoo? anyway it's your call, but I don't think a prone character should get the +4 for wielding a two handed weapon since he isn't holding it with two hands at the moment.. (at least as how I imaging someone lying on the ground who has a two handed sword, that would just look silly, but still its up to the DM) (wait now I'm confused since it works with opposed attack rolls.. so that means he should get the +4 for two handed weapon, but a -4 for attacking while prone..lol I'm very good at confusing myself)
Still I get a -4 for trying to do it with an unarmed strike but a +4 on the attack roll because he is prone, so thats around a +1 total
[roll0]

Moranica
2011-06-13, 05:01 PM
I don't see anything on srd about no AoO while prone. Also, we are using initiative blocks yes, but you can't take two turns in 1 round.

He wields the sword single handed.

You can start either up or prone, whichever you like.

Summary so far:
William delays
Barbarian attacks William
William attack barbarian
Alek casts ray of frost (damage?) This one was to early, William delayed till after the barbarian, so before your block.
Vanton had his wolf attack
Alek attacks barbarian (still the same round, so doesn't go). You can make a new post/action + roll next round.
Aria tries to disarm and get AoO'd.
Barbarian attacks wolf while remaining prone (this will happen in this post)

What Aria thought was a great idea turned out to be a disaster. hoping the barbarian was unable to attack her from the ground she leaped right at the sword, with a simple flick of the hand, the barbarian impales Aria.

As the blood flows over her uncovered belly Aria's world starts to turn, her eyes closing and her mind falling.

So it could get worse...dying here without glory between a group of people who don't even know my name..

In slow-motion the battle continues, sounds in the distance.

well at least I died fighting....maybe....maybe I'll even go to heaven...hah, who am I kiddin'...

with a faint smile on her face Aria drops to the ground, a pool of blood slowly starting to form around her.

Drynwyn

Drynwyn, seeing the bard fall, dashes over to her. He speaks a few quick syllables and lays a hand on her. A glow of positive energy suffuses her, curing her wounds.
Move action to move to, standard spent Casting Vigor on the bard. She regenerates one hit point immediately, meaning she is now only disabled, and continues to heal 1 point for round for 9 rounds.

The dogs seem to be blinking of some sort. Before you realize what's happening they vanish into thin air, only to appear behind you and try to bite you.

IronWilliam

Since we now know they're blink dogs, I'll drop my sword as a free action, but then use total defense to increase my AC to 16.
Halt! We mean no harm!
Even if they don't understand me, they should get the idea from me droping my weapon.
Edit: total defense increases my AC to 18, not 16

dabone
2011-06-26, 08:21 PM
Aria lookes shocked to William.

What the.. are you allright? Why the hell did you drop you sword. Are you out of your mind? We mean no harm? for the love of gods, you are talking to dogs. angry chewing on our teammate dogs...you don't talk to them, you stick pointy things inside of them! multiple times if possible!

Aria takes a step back from the closest dog. (5 foot step)

then I'll start a bardic music (singing) to inspire courage, singing about the mighty vangaurd defeating any challenge they meet.

(for the heck of it, I'll roll to see how good it sounds, even though it will work no matter how good or bad it is.) [roll0]

(wow I cant seem to roll any good, first natural 1 noted! :P, guess I sound like a trainwreck today..)

p.s. Sorry I wasn't aware we were using the old battlethread for this... otherwise I would have posted sooner.

Aria will wait to see what William does. if he doesn't go for the sword but instead does anything else, she will try to grab the sword and if possible attacks.

(She really isn't effective in combat and I can only seem to roll low, so this is gonna be fun:P)

edit : in that case I will keep singing and enjoying the combat ;)

IronWilliam
2011-06-30, 04:30 PM
Sorry, but I'm going for the sword now. I would have liked to have the blink dogs as allies, but now that Drywyn has responded with lethal force it seems unlikely. I'l grab the sword as a move action, then attack as a standard action.
[roll0] (wielded two handed, +1 for inspire courage)
[roll1].
I don't think blink would affect the sleep spell, as blink only helps against single target spells and sleep can hit multiple, (I'm not totally sure) so I'll attack the awake one. If they're both awake, I'll attack D2.
Edit: I get +1 damage for the bard song, so I do 13 damage, not 12.
Edit2: I'l use my fighting challenge special ability against the dog, so I gain a +1 to attack, damage, and will saves. It's a swift action, so I'l use it before I attack and deal 14 points of damage.

welll.... just leave it here? its on its own now and doesnt pose a threat even if it was stupid enough to attack there is no reason to kill it its not its fault its stupid

IronWilliam
2011-07-02, 08:25 PM
I don't think we should just leave it here for several reasons. The first is that canine creatures often live in packs, so there could be more around. Drywyn will confirm that they are intelligent and usually friendly, and if we just leave this one here after killing one the pack may attack us if we tried to settle here. Secondly, if we're going to survive we will need allies. Single blink dog, let alone a pack would be a powerful friend to have. Their unique abilities make them useful for many purposes. I suggest we wait around it unarmed so when it wakes up it won't be threatened. Even if it were hostile, we could easily dispatch it. We have nothing to lose and much to gain.

danc
2011-07-02, 08:36 PM
oh? mr knight looking for opportunities to gain over the well being of the blink dog a minute ago you seemed about ready to get yourself killed for it. if we leave it it wont get killed and if we stay with no way to communicate and having killed its partner it will probably follow soon.

It is a large creature, with baleful eyes and elongated jaws full of overlarge teeth. Patches of scaly hide show through its coarse, shaggy fur, and a row of curving spines juts from its backbone. true true but the casting time is 1 round, so you take 1 round casting (and taking concentration checks if needed) and at the start of your next turn (when you finish casting) they appear and can act immediatly and you also have your entire turn left.

As both groups see eachother they spring into action. William is first to act, taking a sidestep and launching in a dangerous charge attack. It fails to hit the small creature though.

Next up is Vanton, who starts a powerful summoning magic. At the same time, he orders his animal companion to charge. The large wolf immediatly attacks, easily biting the creature and trying to trip it. [roll0] Strangely enough, the creature seems to be unharmed from the attack.

Both demons take revenge upon their attacker, using their full attack abilities.

William swings hard at the creature he just missed. And hits in the side. This time, the creature looks hurt.

With a puff of smoke and a last few spoken words from Vanton, three wolves appear. Together with the animal companion they attack, biting at the demons. Two them hit, but only the summoned wolf seems to actually hurt the demon, biting the thing in his exposed soft belly. On the other hand, the animal companion brings his target down on the ground.

All the while Vanton has taken his chance at launching some more of his magic, and suddenly William and two of the wolves attack again! Again, William and the animal companion hit. But while William manages to bring down his opponent, the wolf fails to do any damage.

Two small balls of energy leave the fingertips of Alek and hit the creature left, next to William, doing considerable damage.

Both demons realise they are in trouble and try to call for help. The one near William steps away before doing so, but the other doesn't, as he is lying on the ground. [roll0]; [roll1] Both succeed! And two more demons appear.
