TechnOkami or dm only. Cheaters will be persecuted.

When you arrive, the farm is in disarray. Someone or something has wrecked a good portion of the farm. No one seems to be present.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 07:13 PM
Sylvanus calls out, "Hello?"

planswalker
2011-07-08, 07:19 PM
None answer.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 07:40 PM
Sylvanas looks at what remains of the farm.

Are there any discernible buildings, like a barn or a silo left, or is everything razed and flattened?

planswalker
2011-07-08, 07:42 PM
The house, barn, and silo are still structurally sound, but signs of a fight are present and there is cosmetic damage to all of it.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 07:50 PM
Sylvanas will enter the house first to check for survivors.

(whoops, absolutely forgot about my animal companion. He will circle the house.)

planswalker
2011-07-08, 08:41 PM
He finds no survivors, but neither does he find corpses. It appears that two people stumbled out of here and headed towards town, and many people headed towards the farmer's field.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 08:46 PM
Sylvanus takes note of this, and heads out of the house, walking towards the barn. The dire bat starts circling the barn.

planswalker
2011-07-08, 08:48 PM
The barn seems to have within it farm animals and feed. And a pitchfork that has been well-used.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 08:53 PM
And lastly, Sylvanus checks the silo, the bat changing his trajectory accordingly.

planswalker
2011-07-08, 08:58 PM
The silo seems to be about one-third full of wheat kernels.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 09:07 PM
After checking the last building, Sylvanus will call his animal companion down, sit on top of it, and take flight for an over-head view of the area, specifically for people and anything resembling ruins in the immediate vicinity.

planswalker
2011-07-08, 09:17 PM
You find an open door in the middle of the field set into a depression in the ground. You notice a hand closing it as you approach.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 09:45 PM
Sylvanus runs up, "Wait!"

planswalker
2011-07-08, 09:51 PM
If the person heard you, he gives no indication.

You hear a lock slide into place just as you touch ground.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 10:21 PM
His doubts are high, but he will try it anyways. Sylvanas knocks on the door, "Hello?"

planswalker
2011-07-08, 10:22 PM
No response.

Perhaps checking the door thoroughly might reveal a clue.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 10:32 PM
Could I use a craft woodwork check to pick something up?

planswalker
2011-07-08, 10:35 PM
yes you may.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 10:40 PM
Sylvanus inspects the details and intricacies of the wooden doors.

Craft Woodwork: [roll0]

planswalker
2011-07-08, 10:46 PM
You notice that though the door is locked, likely there is supposed to be a means of opening it. There is a script in sylvan along the bottom of the door.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 10:51 PM
Sylvanus will read the first and the last words and those words only, covering up the rest of the phrase with his hands.

planswalker
2011-07-08, 11:00 PM
"If....

door."

It seems that the message is exactly 27 words long.

TechnOkami
2011-07-08, 11:31 PM
...Sylvanas puts his little worry aside and reads it in its entirety.

'cause nothing will go wrong... no really...

planswalker
2011-07-08, 11:52 PM
"If you wish to enter my halls, beware! Intruders who wish to plunder my many and vast riches, I have many death awaiting you beyond this door!" Upon having read the next to last word, explosive runes go off and blast you for [roll0] damage.

On the bright side, though, there is now no longer a locked door in your way. Just a half-charred piece of rubbish.

....I knew that was set to explode... *curses* I'll be making another craft check to heal myself a little.

Craft Check: [roll0]

Oh joy, only one point.

Sylvanas will be thrown back a little by the fact that something just exploded in his face. He ponders casting a spell on himself, then realizes "I forgot to buy myself potions of repair in town... and proceeds to facepalm himself. He will hop onto his animal companion and fly back to the city gates, hop off, and find an item vendor of sorts so he may purchase a few.

planswalker
2011-07-09, 12:16 AM
He finds such an item vendor.

TechnOkami
2011-07-09, 12:46 AM
Sylvanus walks up to the vendor and asks, "Do you have any Potions of Repair, by chance?"

I think that's the right potion...

planswalker
2011-07-09, 12:59 AM
we don't have to rp this out if you don't want. Just declare that you buy x potions of repair [insert injury level] damage and be done with it.

unless, of course, you'd rather rp buying potions of repair than start eh dungeon crawl sooner.

"I sure do. How many of what potency do you want?"

TechnOkami
2011-07-09, 02:03 AM
Ok then, how much for 5 cure light and 5 cure moderate equivalents?

planswalker
2011-07-09, 08:43 AM
standard dmg price for 1st and 2nd level potions.

TechnOkami
2011-07-09, 01:03 PM
Alrighty, when I get to a laptop, I will make those changes on my character sheet.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 12:05 AM
The changes have been made. Can He swing by the Druid's Grove to get patched up, then head back to the entrance?

planswalker
2011-07-10, 12:10 AM
He can do whatever you want him to do.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 12:12 AM
Buying what he needs, and not to keen on wasting spells to patch himself up, he will walk back to the druid's grove, and ask for someone to heal his wounds.

planswalker
2011-07-10, 12:26 AM
"Ah, one whose life is bound in nature. How can we help you?"

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 12:34 AM
"Well, to be honest, it's your typical case of runes of an explosive nature, and I am in need of some healing before I return to the ruins I was just about to explore."

planswalker
2011-07-10, 12:39 AM
"Didn't know better than to read strange runes, did you?"

He casts enough spells to heal you up to full. FOr one so obviously a servant of nature, he charges simply 10 gold.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 12:43 AM
"Thank you." Sylvanus pays the 10 gold, then remarks, "It did ponder upon me that it was explosive. I, however, forgot I could check for it. Good day." And with that, Sylvanus walks back to the city's wall, hops back onto his companion, and flies back to the ruin's entrance.

planswalker
2011-07-10, 01:03 AM
He is now back where he started.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 01:15 AM
Sylvanus will take his first step down the dark, dank, dungeon of doom.

"...alas, more runes..." Sylvanus will begin to weave his magic through the air, hoping it will detect what he can not sense.

Is the range of detect magic wide enough that it can sweep over the entire room? If not, then I will detect magic the pentagram described in the depiction on the floor.

Also: just so you know, when his words are bolded, it represents what he's actually saying. When it's not bolded, it's his thoughts.

planswalker
2011-07-10, 12:49 PM
important distinction to make. The convention I normally use is italics for thoughts and quotes for spoken words, but I'll try to keep your distinction in mind.

Indeed, there is magic present within the 30-foot hallway.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 04:39 PM
But I don't specifically know where, right?

planswalker
2011-07-10, 05:42 PM
that requires a second round of concentration.

TechnOkami
2011-07-10, 06:50 PM
Do I have to make a concentration check, or just wait another round?

planswalker
2011-07-10, 06:52 PM
wait another round.

There is magic coming from the runic circle before you.

TechnOkami
2011-07-11, 12:28 AM
I totally forgot about him, but can my animal companion fit down here with me?

planswalker
2011-07-11, 12:48 AM
Yes, but not enough room to fly.

TechnOkami
2011-07-11, 12:54 AM
That's fine. Sylvanus summons a wolf with Summon Monster I.

Sylvanus will begin to weave magic through the air again, causing a wolf to appear out of thin air. He will then order the wolf forward and into the runic ring on the floor, and will wait to see if anything happens.

planswalker
2011-07-11, 01:05 AM
When it enters, it needs to roll a will save.

TechnOkami
2011-07-11, 01:16 AM
Will save, comin' right up.

Will Save: [roll0]

planswalker
2011-07-11, 02:36 AM
The wolf howls in confusion and distress.

TechnOkami
2011-07-11, 05:34 AM
Sylvanus ends it's pain, waving his hand to send it back from whence it came, ending the spell.

I'm actually not entirely sure if he can do that or not, to be honest.

Once the wolf disappears, Sylvanus will step into the ring himself.

planswalker
2011-07-11, 12:52 PM
He must make a will save.

TechnOkami
2011-07-11, 06:35 PM
Oh bloody hell. I thought that would take care of it. Oh well.

Will Save: [roll0]

planswalker
2011-07-12, 04:11 AM
You manage to resist the curse.

Beyond the circle, there is a plain wooden door.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 03:14 PM
...I should have rolled a Rogue, I swear...

Can I make a craft woodwork to check the door for... anything of concern?

roll: [roll0]

Sylvanus looks intently at the door's framework and design, checking for things out of place or oddities which should not be part of a door.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 03:28 PM
Nothing is apparent.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 03:28 PM
Sylvanus will open the door.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 03:39 PM
nothing seems to happen.

The hallways beyond is 10 ft by 45 ft. Rubble clutters the first ten feet of the passage, and an open pit five feet wide lies just beyond that.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 04:15 PM
Sylvanus will mount his animal companion again, cast jump on himself and thus his animal companion as well, and he will order it to jump over the chasm.

Jump Check: [roll0]

planswalker
2011-07-12, 04:20 PM
He clears it easily.

The stairs beyond beckon.

a tree... on a giant bat... a jumping bat.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 04:28 PM
I'll have to use that as a quote... and I laughed, so hard.

On a serious note: are the stairs made of wood or stone?

planswalker
2011-07-12, 04:51 PM
Beyond the entrance, the stairs themselves seem to be made from a black marble and not the red stone of the floor above. As you walk down the stairs, no traps appear to go off.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 05:09 PM
Sylvanus will dismount his bat and the both of them shall walk down the stairs.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 05:18 PM
At the foot of the steps, you set off a pressure plate and take [roll0] damage.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 05:29 PM
"...ouch. ...perhaps I should have hired a rogue..." Sylvanus will drain one of the potions of moderate healing, repairing himself.

le roll: [roll0]

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 05:31 PM
Pardon the double post.

Sylvanus will also make a craft woodwork check on himself to heal those last two points.

[roll0]

Much more relieved of damage, Sylvanus will look down the hall.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 05:41 PM
The 10x45 hallway of red stone appears empty except for a set of bloodstains 30 feet in. They are fresh.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 06:06 PM
How can I notice the blood if its on red stone? :smalltongue:

planswalker
2011-07-12, 06:14 PM
The stone is dark orange-red. The blood is bright crimson. contrast within a color.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 07:04 PM
Haha, ok.

Silvanus will crouch down to inspect the blood, looking to see if it's part of a trail or its simply a bloody pool on the floor.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 07:16 PM
It appears to be splatters on the floor from something above hitting something squishy.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 07:24 PM
Silvanus will back up and then look up.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 07:25 PM
The ceiling is smooth, but the section of floor over the bloodstains lacks the dust of the rest of it.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 07:30 PM
Is there enough space between the bloody spot on the ground and the wall so Silvanus can hug it and move around this all too obvious trap? ...or is the moving stone cinderblock over his head the length of the hall, which then Silvanus will not and I will have to think of the best method of approach.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 07:34 PM
Every trap up to this point but one has all been the width of the hall. Sylvanus should be able to guess the width of this one.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 07:38 PM
Silvanus will see if there is some sort of "beam of light" which would cause the block to fall if broken.

Spot check: [roll0]

planswalker
2011-07-12, 07:46 PM
You can't tell.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 07:58 PM
Silvanus takes out one of the feather tokens he has, and activates it, right around the center of where the big bloody pile would be (without standing in it of course).

planswalker
2011-07-12, 08:11 PM
what feather token is this? boat? tree? fan?

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 09:22 PM
what feather token is this? boat? tree? fan?

Tree. :smallcool:

planswalker
2011-07-12, 09:30 PM
The tree sets off the trigger plate. More spikes rain down from the ceiling. It appears to be unable to reset itself so long as there's something standing on it.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 09:44 PM
The tree sets off the trigger plate. More spikes rain down from the ceiling. It appears to be unable to reset itself so long as there's something standing on it.

Silvanus and his bat will move to the other side of the tree. After that, Silvanus will proceed slowly through the hall, looking at all 4 sides of the hall he's walking down and stopping if there is another dust-free floor, ceiling, or wall. Then it dons on him Wait a second... if it was activated and there's a big bloody spot, then someone else is here adventuring as well... Silvanus will also look down to check for footprints.

planswalker
2011-07-12, 09:53 PM
In fact, there have been so many footprints now that he cares to look that its hard to distinguish how many. At least three.

Down these stairs, you reach another hallway. It looks just like all the others so far.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 10:20 PM
No big bloody spot on the floor this time?

planswalker
2011-07-12, 10:40 PM
Nope. You don't.

TechnOkami
2011-07-12, 10:45 PM
Silvanus will raise his hands and spread some more of his druidic magic.

Detect magic. What can I sense?

planswalker
2011-07-12, 10:53 PM
He detects magic present within the area of his cone.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 01:55 AM
He waits a round to find out where specifically.

planswalker
2011-07-13, 07:21 AM
It is coming from him. The hall itself has no magic.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 03:53 PM
Sylvanas sighs, and keeps walking down the hall at the originally slow pace as mentioned before, feet searching included.

planswalker
2011-07-13, 04:03 PM
30 feet in, he finds a brown powder is covered all over the floor. As he walks through, it is stirred up and covers him everywhere. The stairs beyond are blue instead of black.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 05:19 PM
Silvanus tries to dust this powder off of him.

planswalker
2011-07-13, 05:22 PM
Once it contacts him, it gets sticky. You'll have to wash it off in a full immersion.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 06:20 PM
Could Silvanus cast Gust of Wind to blow all the brown dust down?

planswalker
2011-07-13, 06:21 PM
It would not blow ALL of it off you, but it would blow away the piles of brown dust.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 09:43 PM
Silvanus will cast some spells.

The first being Gust of Wind to get rid of the piles of brown dust as well as the some of it on himself, and then create water to get rid of the rest on himself.

planswalker
2011-07-13, 09:57 PM
When the gust of wind sweeps down the hallway in front of you, the brown powder reacts with a residue of an orange liquid. A second after the initial explosion, something breaks and the orange liquid bursts from the walls. This reacts with the remaining powder. A terrific explosion erupts, bathing you in light. When the lights fade, the tunnel before you is collapsed.

You hastily rush to rinse yourself off with water.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 10:16 PM
I KNEW it was explosive...

Sylvanas blinks, somewhat shocked at what just happened in front of him. After a few moments, Silvanus will look upon the remains of the tunnel in front of him, contemplating what to do...

Ok, if this won't work, then he'll be heading back up. Amidst the monsters of Summon Nature's Ally III is a Thoqqua. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/thoqqua.htm) Could I use its burrow ability to burrow a new tunnel out of the collapsed one by having it dig in a corkscrew?

planswalker
2011-07-13, 10:25 PM
technically, burrowing fills itself in behind it. You could get the thoqqua through. also to consider: you just trapped 5 pc's in there. I think it would be nice if they had to find a way out on themselves. I'll give you bonus xp if you leave them trapped to find their own way out.

TechnOkami
2011-07-13, 10:41 PM
My conscious says it would be really bad for me not to dig them out. Then again, as far as my character knows, there's only one person down there... oh well. I'll take your bonus xp and head back up.

Seeing no feasible way to dig through the tunnel with relative ease, and having nothing on his person to do it with, Silvanus will walk back up to the surface, wondering how he's going to dig through a tunnel.

planswalker
2011-07-13, 11:11 PM
ok... give me just a moment to calculate your xp gains from this quest...

On your way back out, your character gains 4000 xp.

3000 from the traps, and 1000 story xp for acting in character and aiding the dm in telling the story he wants to tell.

yes, the numbers really worked out that evenly on the 3000.

TechnOkami
2011-07-14, 12:38 AM
Nice, nice. Um, I don't have the number on hand which tells me how much experience is needed for 7th level... well, regardless of if he leveled or not, the tree and his bat will fly back to the city gates, and then walk back to the druid's circle, where he will rest and pray by basically standing like a tree. His dire bat will be sleeping. When morning comes, he will take a look once again at the board of interesting things.

And nevermind, I made Myth-weavers calculate my exp correctly, and I have not leveled yet.

planswalker
2011-07-14, 11:13 AM

Silvanus will ask, "Alright. Where is the home of this noble with the missing cat?"

planswalker
2011-07-15, 08:58 AM
it pains me to break the flow of the story and tell you metaknowledge, but that quest is just as full as the ruins were. You're a couple weeks behind the others already in that quest. Might be best if you struck out on your own quest or tried another. If searching for a lost cat is something you just really want to do, though, I'll go through with it.

TechnOkami
2011-07-15, 11:11 AM
Well, I don't mind not doing the cat mission (my plan was to
basically wildshape into another feline of sorts to commune with a cat of matching descriptions and then, if it was the right cat, lead it home) the problem is that IC, Silvanus has roughy 8 to 10 hours to kill. The mission with the redheaded dude sounds the most interesting out of them all, but my character basically needs a way to kill time other than standing and looking like a tree.

planswalker
2011-07-15, 11:30 AM
well, you could spend the time researching something in the library or selling your services as a spellcaster.

TechnOkami
2011-07-17, 12:34 PM
Actually, I am interested in things to do out of the city. Ironic since it's all about the city though. Now I'm interested: has any player gone to an entirely different city than Aldhaven?
Silvanus will walk to the city library, and once inside, he will walk up to one of the librarians, "Good morning. I am looking for literary materials on locations outside of Aldhaven's city limits. I was wondering if, perhaps, this library contained any such tomes?"

This is just a question about class options for the campaign: why is ToB banned?

planswalker
2011-07-17, 12:46 PM
we feel that the classes in ToB are an attempt at balance gone too far. Ideally, we would have nerfed tier 1 and 2 classes to be on par with the rogue or barbarian if we thought we could have gotten away with it. As it is, ToB classes outshine ALL other non-casters, and we drew the line in the sand somewhere.

as of yet, no one has actually gone to an entirely different city. If you leave the city and don't plan on coming back, you're leaving the campaign. A trip elsewhere with plans to return would be an interesting diversion, though.

"Indeed we do. Third floor. The librarian there can help you." She says.

Which comes off as rather odd. The building from the outside only had two stories. Perhaps having the library in the Mages' Quarter is of benefit.

TechnOkami
2011-07-17, 01:16 PM
It would definitely be diversion. I have no intention to leave the campaign. And about the ToB outshining all non-casters... yeah, it's pretty much true. I asked because my original plan for a character was a Warblade refluffed to be a Samurai. Alas though, it was not to be. Also, I only recently began using the ToB classes, so I thought it would have been a good opportunity to play as one.

"Thank you, miss."Silvanus then thinks about what she just said, and remembering the dimensions of the building from the outside, he shakes his head. "Mages..." Silvanus will begin his ascent to the third floor.

...out of curiosity, what does he see on the second floor?

planswalker
2011-07-17, 01:26 PM
Second floor includes a LARGE selection of books. You notice a gnoll among the nearly dozen people perusing the books. It appears that two humans are collaborating together with some almanacs in one of the sections. Everyone else seems to be by themselves.

TechnOkami
2011-07-17, 01:37 PM
When Silvanus reaches the third floor, he will walk up to the librarian there. "Good day. I was told by the librarian on the first floor that this one in particular holds various books on locations outside of Aldhaven. Could you possibly direct me to where they might be on this floor?"

Nevermind.

Also, could you change the thread name to Silvanus please? I find saying his name with the I rather than the Y is easier, and it irks me the name the other way. Thanks.

Silvanus will pull out two books, both on locations and areas around the world, except on two different timeframes. The first will be in the most recent time and the other will be in the fledgling years of Aldhaven (around when it was created).

Specifically, he will search for information on cities of both the past and the current, taking a look at where they were and where they ate now, fallen cities, new fledgling cities, ect.

planswalker

One is a book on Wimberly Vale describing its history as an independent city-state and the war that caused it to fall into vassalage with the emergent empire based in Aldhaven.

The other is an account of major events in Redfort in the past 5 years.

It seems that there have been dozens of cities in the past few centuries that have come and gone, some conquered and razed, others taken over and re-named, and a few that lie abandoned, crumbling ruins that all are claimed to be haunted.

:D

The young man is approximately 5'5 and 120 pounds. He has wild bright orange hair, frekles all over his face and a calm smile. He is dressed in fine quality travellers clothes though nothing amazing. You can spot a fair amount of masterwork quality items about his person that would probably indicate magical gear and he wears a long sword which is now resting close to his left hand as it leans on the table.

He is alone and seems to have been just finishing a rather rich meal.

As you approach he looks up to you raising an eyebrow but then shrugs and gets up to greet you.

"Oh hello! Are you answering my ad? Thats wonderful! My name is Ishmael but you can call me Ish!" he says pleasantly as he extends his gloved hand.

Two GM's in a single IC chat thread at once? I feel somewhat honored.

What is standing before you is a man-shaped... well, tree. It has discernable joints, unlike your stereotypical treant, yet retains such qualities as leafy branches growing from it's forearms shoulders, and head, as well as feet more reminiscent of gnarled tree stumps.

The tree-man will take his own, four fingered hand, and respond to your offer with a nice, firm handshake. In a slow, but articulate voice he says, "Indeed I am. My name is Silvanus. Just, Silvanus." As you shake his hand, you can almost feel the extent of the masterful craftsmanship about his wooden fingers, contrasted by the fact that roots are growing out of the seams etched into it.

After release from the handshake, Silvanus takes a seat.

Monodominant

"Well then... err... would you like something to drink or eat? I admit I dont know how that... er... works but I can order something for you, my treat!" he says excitedly.

"But lets get down to business. I will tell you two things about me Sylvanus before we continue. If those are okay with you then we can work together. So here goes. Firstly I am very paranoid... it means you will have to abide with my weird sense of logic some times and accept my crazy ideas as they are..." he pauses to see if you are following.

"The second is... I am not a really good person. But more importantly the people I am against are REALLY BAD people... If you are interested in helping a paranoid not so nice person against a large group fo really nasty REALLY evil people we can work together you and I!" he says his voice lowering significantly.

Ishmael considers what to say next very carefully... the man mentioned a case and working on it. Could it be that he was speaking with a Guardsman that was either undercover or perhaps working with the Jacks?

He tried to hide his uneasyness and try and see what was going on.

"Possibly. As I said, this place was chosen for its neutrality not for it being the best location to talk about names..."

"Forgive my inquiry but since I have shown you... at least part of mine I have to ask you... are you a member of the Guard or working with them directly? As I mentioned I know the Guard despises my targets but on the other hand their ways of working would jeopardise my mission and I doubt some of my backers would like to get involved with them in a direct fashion... furthermore though my plan is to bring criminals to justice some have more personal and direct ways to end the threat this Gang represents and having to worry about getting arrested afterwards wont work for them... I dont mind if you also work WITH the Guard but what we discuss between us and what information I give and share is for your ears only... I have spent weeks and countless resources, risking my life and the life of others for this and I wont have it blow up due to a leak from the Watch..." he said carefully.

He leaned forward and whispered to Ishmael alone so that the tree couldn't hear. He was going to go ahead and assume that the Jacks were the problem that needed destruction. "You want me on your side for this. I have found an entrance at one of their hangouts. Where it is will cost you and your backers extra, but I have it secured. "We can discuss details before or after your duels. My research has paid fruit and I already have quite a few locations that lead to hideouts. They have a big one as well that just scouting it almost got me killed..."he says and he shivers remembering the encounter with the Nose.

"If your location is one we have not uncovered then we would be interested off course as this has to be a complete operation." he says as he stands up.

"And now gentlemen I have to depart, I shall meet you tomorrow at a time of your choosing behind the Hangman Inn in Northmarket. Its a relative secluded area and easy to see if anyone is watching or trying to overhear... I have business to attend to now and reports to fill..." he says and grins.

"Dont try to follow me by the way, I will not take kindly to that.... and that includes pets, animals, spirits and anything else..." he says as he opens a pouch and leaves the correct amount for whatever their table has consumed and a 20% tip.

"Oh and one more thing, tomorrow I will most obviously NOT come as the orange headed youth. Its far too obvious... it was necessary here to make it easy to be identified. Erm... 5th level exp, which then adventuring with you DM-ing got me to 6th, and then the 7,000 you just gave me right now.

planswalker
2011-08-01, 01:37 AM
... how are you calculating your xp totals?

at 1st level, you start with 0 xp.

to reach second level, your character must have a total of 1,000 xp (1000 more than before)
to reach third level, your character must have a total of 3,000 xp (2000 more than before)
to reach fourth level, your character must have a total of 6,000 xp (3000 more than before)
to reach fifth level, your character must have a total of 10,000 xp (4000 more than before)
to reach sixth level and be an eligible character to start in AVB, your character must have a total of 15,000 xp (5000 more than before)
to reach seventh level, your character must have a total of 21,000 xp (6000 more than before)
to reach eighth level, your character must have a total of 28,000 xp (7000 more than before)

the 7315 xp on your character sheet is barely enough to be fourth level, which tells me that you did not start your character off at the xp totals for 6th level and that Riz didn't bother checking there as he just assumed you did it correctly. If you had done your starting xp correctly, myth-weavers would have helped you know when to level by showing you the proper next-level xp.

That's... odd... um, completely my fault (although now I know and understand how to calculate the levels now, so thank you anyways).

I'll go over the EXP for everything and see where I'm actually at.

Ok, according to where I'm actually at, I am actually 7th level now, and am 2,100 away from 8th.

okay. I would like to apologize if I cam off as sharp, but it's late at night for me, and your suggestion that 7k xp shot you up to 9th level threw me off guard, and my tongue is just absolute sandpaper when caught off guard.

And just to note: I was using the exp change thing, so apparently it wasn't working correctly OR I didn't fully understand how to use it correctly.

That's fine. I'm a player, you're a GM, and I've (unfortunately) been around angry and/or annoyed GM's long enough to understand.

I can understand that one. How it works is you put in the xp you gained in the far right of the three xp blanks, and it is added on to your current xp automatically when you click off of that blank. Once you have set the base xp, you actually don't have to touch the current xp blank ever again. Just be careful about accidentally adding xp twice to the sheet.

Hrmn... well, I did do that, but it didn't work... I'll just settle for the less-convenience and the more "Hey, my math isn't wrong!" method.

And I've opened up a thread for generally useful Druid items, and so far have found one, and I'm not sure what it does. It is a Ring of Mighty Summons, found in Complete Mage.

planswalker
2011-08-01, 02:41 AM
that works.

the item you are referring to means that creatures you summon have maximum hp per hit die, so just multiply the number of hit dice by the die number and add con mods like normal to get hp, isntead of taking average. It also halves the duration.

TechnOkami
2011-08-01, 03:32 AM
...that's it? Eh, no thanks. I like the fact that my summoned creatures last twice as long. Having creatures of not maximum hit die is fine for me.

well, enhancement bonuses don't stack, so you can't do that.

Well, I guess I will be buying a wilding clasp, and I'll ask in the shop for other items which would be of benefit to me.

....I'm debating between a Druid's Vestment or a Wilding Clasp, because currently I don't have another magic item I should bring into me with Wildshape, and thus buy two clasps and one magic item.

TechnOkami
2011-08-04, 02:53 AM
Ok, can I just say that I purchase 1 wilding clasp? There's nothing else I can think of which I would need immediately, and any magic items I want I don't know about since I still don't have access to those books, and I might as well save myself the trouble.

For specifications sake, I will also take the cost off of my character in Gold.

planswalker

If all you can think of for now is the clasp, just keep the rest as spare gold for now.

Returned I have to continue Silvanus' tale.

With all that has been said and done, Silvanus will head to the library, walk in, request assistance from one of the librarians, and go with him/her to find out what planes a dire bat can live on, which will rule out somewhat the many many planes I will have to search.

TechnOkami

There are about a half-dozen such planes or more. All the celestial ones, and most of the non-evil ones.

TechnOkami
2011-09-29, 11:23 AM
Silvanus will take this list of planes with him to that arcane society group that Master Hagan previously mentioned to him, asking them if they would have any way to determine the location of his animal companion on these planes, given the fact that Silvanus can still feel that he's alive.

Silvanus will note that, and head to Aldhaven's druid circle to root himself in and be a tree for a while, water and nutrients and the such. In the morning, he'll head Rizban's shop and wait for Master Hagan and his reward, the dividing of the items, and then head off to his appointment with the divination master. If anything would impede his going to the divination master, he'll take care of them later. Finding where his animal companion might be is is top priority.

During my adventures he was absorbed through a portal of an enemy mage, and I can still feel the link between us, so he is assuredly alive still. When I know where he is, I can gather a band of adventurers to help me.... but first I must know where he is. Could you possibly help in that aspect?"

"I am more than confident that I have enough funds to pay for what expenses need be to locate and retrieve my lost animal companion. If not... I'm positive something could be arranged."
I'm assuming Silvanus has the money he received from Hagan and company already, and that he knows just how much. I'm relatively confident that a sum of that size could pay for it... right?

"Very well. First thing we will need to do is a scrying, see if that can tell us where it is. If that's not overly helpful, we'll try communing with it. The first one can be cast for you. The second one will have to be crafted as a contingent spell, and that increases the cost of an already expensive spell considerably."

Hello!

I was checking the AvB threads. Perhaps you want to PM Plans and Rizban about picking where you left off?

Well, I'll be frank: yes I do, but what was with the sudden disappearance of Plans?

planswalker
2011-10-25, 12:47 AM
what the sudden disappearance of is that I'm a busy guy irl and with this game. If I seem to have disappeared, odds are it's because I didn't get the notification that you responded to a thread. Please, please, please, if I miss a day, pm me and/or post in your thread asking what's up. I'm dm'ing something approaching 10 threads. not to mention that I'm running an LoC game as admin and have a pc in avb and one other game.

unfortunately, I cannot answer for Riz for you. You'll want to pm him yourself to sort that out. Be warned that he's burned out right now and thus may take as long as a week to get back to you.

in the mean time, I'm 100% cool with us assuming that one way or another you end up getting your vestment and continuing your venture, filling in the details when you can sort it out with Riz.

But if you insist, when your attention needs grabbing, I will make sure to throw a pie to your face (or something, like a tomato, sandvich, lettuce, ect.).
I think I'll message Riz right now and get it taken care of.

...and Mono... shouldn't you, like, not be responding to and or even reading these?

Lokio
2011-10-25, 01:05 AM

TechnOkami

...now I have a question: who is Plans' character when he has to join in on the adventure?
As early as morning's first streaks of light across the quiet Aldhaven morning skyline, Silvanus has stirred from the Druid's Grove, making his way to the office of the head of Divination.

I know Silvanus doesn't have all the things on him right now, but let's just assume he does, and I can hash out the goods with Hagan once I get the Vestige done with. That said... geez, I need to look through the item compendium thing for doodads which would benefit me. No, no, I'm not buying anything other than the Vestige. If I actually have anything left over from saving my Dire Bat, then I'll see what I can get.

planswalker
2011-10-25, 02:00 AM
I can't dm my own character, but if you ever spot a little green halfling runing around invisibly who seems to know just the thing to say, odds are you've met Little Green, my pc.

At the office, the secretary makes note of your appointment and says, "Well, good sir, you're about a half-hour early. If you'd like to wait here with me for a little bit, he'll likely be free to help you. He's still preparing his spells."

TechnOkami
2011-10-25, 02:09 AM
Funny story... that reminds me of a completely different character. Basically, a Kender Rogue with enough ranks and magic items to hide that he still has like a +30 left over from fumbling a hide check.

"Very Well." Silvanus will take his seat and wait patiently.

Monodominant
2011-10-25, 02:21 AM
+30 eh? Well if Ishmael fumbles he will get 50 on his hide... :D

Also, just to clear it up for you. Plans was the DM for the teamup thread... the mission was actually something my PC had to do... we thought it would be cool to involve other PCs in it so my PC put the ad on the town crier... and then you and Lokio joined in (at that point Lokio wasnt a DM yet but since the thread took so long he ended up being one :D). As you recall Rizbans character was invited to join by Lokios character... hence we ended up with a thread were 3 out of the 4 PCs were the DMs characters :D

Also, I -generally- do not read all threads or go through them in detail to maintain my impartiallity and to not risk metagaming... but in your thread I had posted so it was in my subscribe list and saw that there was no answer since 2 weeks or so and thought to bump it up :D

So... you're welcome :D
