“The ancient battles oft find themselves repeating in my mind, with my conscious merely a follower in the larger game of war. I am a conduit for the ancient souls that found themselves battling for some idea or other, it matters not to me. Still, one must consider the way the azure wind flows, for never can one outrun fate, and even the greatest knowledge of all of the battles in all of the world cannot stop a well placed arrow. That is what armor is for. Knowledge may save the battle, but it cannot save but a single man. That is what my blade is for. The knowledge of all of the generations of warriors may guide me, but it is my blood that sings in battle, and my heart that guides my weapon.”

~Kirint Grezas, Sapphire Blademaster

Weapon Proficiencies: The Sapphire Blademaster gains proficiency with no weapons or armor.

Maneuvers: At 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th levels, the Sapphire Blademaster gains one new maneuver from either Diamond Mind, or Iron Heart disciplines. He must a maneuver’s prerequisite in order to learn it. He gains an additional maneuver readied at level 2, and at every four levels there after (6th, and 10th). He gains a stance known at 9th level.

Meldshaping: At each Sapphire Blademaster level besides first, the Sapphire Blademaster increases his Meldshaper level, the number of soulmelds he can shape, the number of Chakra Binds he can create, new tiers of Chakra binds, and his essentia pool as if he had gained a level of the meldshaping class to which he belonged before entering the Sapphire Blademaster class. He does not, however, gain any other abilities from that class. If he had more than one class that granted meldshaping before becoming a Sapphire Blademaster, he must choose which class to add each level.

Sapphire Smite (Su): Whenever the Sapphire Blademaster initiates a strike, he gains bonus essentia equal to the level of the strike, which can be invested in abilities and soulmelds as normal. This bonus essentia does not stack with further applications of this ability, and instead overlaps (for instance, a Sapphire Blademaster initiates Sapphire Nightmare Blade, gains 1 point of bonus essentia. He then initiates Mithral Tornado, and his bonus essentia becomes 4 instead.) This bonus essentia fades at the end of the encounter.

Soul Weapon (Su): The Sapphire Blademaster may bind his weapon to his very soul. Binding his weapon is a hour long ritual, and the weapon remains bound to the Sapphire Blademaster until he decides to unbind it, or the weapon is destroyed. While the weapon is bound, the Sapphire Blademaster may invest essentia into the weapon as if it were a soulmeld. The weapon’s base damage increases by one step for each point of essentia invested in it, and the Sapphire Blademaster gains a bonus to attack and damage rolls, and all combat maneuvers made while wielding the weapon (combat maneuvers as defined in the SRD, E.G. Trip, Bull Rush, Grapple, Disarm, Overrun, and Sunder), equal to the essentia invested in the weapon.

Prowess of the Blademaster (Ex): The Sapphire Blademaster becomes able to channel the energy of the souls that he manipulates into his martial powers, using their intuition to boost his own combat prowess. Starting at second level, the Sapphire Blademaster may, as a swift action, invest essentia in a class of maneuver, Strikes, Boosts, or stances, as if they were soulmelds. They may only invest in strikes when first gaining this ability, and may invest in boosts upon reaching fifth level, and stances upon reaching eighth level. They have different results based on the class of maneuver.

Strikes: The save DC that any strike possesses is increased by a number equal to the invested essentia in this ability. In addition, the strike deals an additional 1d6 damage per essentia invested into this ability, and any attack rolls made as part of the strike gain a bonus equal to the invested essentia.

Boosts: The duration of the boost increases by a number of rounds equal to the invested essentia in this ability, but may not increase the duration to that of double the original period of time. Any normal (non-strike) attacks made while in a boost gain a bonus to the attack and damage rolls equal to the the essentia invested in this ability.

Stances: Any strikes that you initiate while in a stance of the same school have their non-attack roll non-saving throw numeric components increased by a number equal to the essentia invested in this ability.

Cloak of Midnight (Ex): The Sapphire Blademaster becomes able to dodge better than most eyes would be able to follow, and can use shadows in order to obscure his form. Starting at third level, the Sapphire Blademaster gains a dodge bonus to armor class equal to his Intelligence modifier, and when he is in shadowy illumination, he gains a miss chance equal to one half of his Sapphire Blademaster levels, times ten.

Perfect Sight (Su): The Sapphire Blademaster may cover his eyes with the experience of his elders and see through lies and see through the leagues. Starting at fourth level, the Sapphire Blademaster may once per day, as a swift action, gain the effects of the true seeing spell with a caster level equal to the Sapphire Blademaster’s initiator level, and an insight bonus to Sense Motive and Spot checks equal to his Sapphire Blademaster levels, until the end of the encounter.

Stance of Crushing Sorrow (Su): The Sapphire Blademaster may enter a stance that is fueled the ancient sorrow of souls they channel, and gain understanding of the way of combat. Starting at 6th level, the Sapphire Blademaster may, as a swift action, lose the benefits of his current stance, and gain the benefits of the Stance of Crushing Sorrow. For the duration of the stance, the Sapphire Blademaster maximizes all non attack roll or Skill check variabalic components of any strikes he initiates of the Diamond Mind or Iron Heart disciplines, and he gains bonus essentia for the duration of the stance equal to the level of the stance that he was in before entering the Stance of Crushing Sorrow. For the duration of the stance, the Sapphire Blademaster takes 1d6 damage per round. This damage may not be avoided by any means, and cannot be healed while in the stance. He may leave the stance at any time as a free action, but may only enter the stance once per encounter.

Solemn Fury (Ex): The Sapphire Blademaster may channel the rage of the warriors’ souls that they use, and fly into a fury. Once per encounter, the Sapphire Blademaster may enter a rage, as a move action. While in the rage, the Sapphire Blademaster gains a +6 bonus to Strength and Constitution, and a number of bonus essentia equal to his newly modified Constitution modifier, which last for the duration of the rage. In addition, he takes a -3 penalty to Armor Class, and may not use any Intelligence or Charisma based skill checks unless they are made as part of a maneuver. The rage lasts for 3 rounds, and after the rage ends the Sapphire Blademaster becomes fatigued for 3 rounds.

Wings of Blue Steel (Su): The Sapphire Blademaster may, using the power of the souls he channels, boost his speed to superhuman levels. The Sapphire Blademaster may invest essentia into this ability as if it were a soulmeld. The Sapphire Blademaster gains a bonus to base land speed equal to 10 times the number of essentia invested in this ability.

Cobalt Tornado (Su): The Sapphire Blademaster may spin in a circle and unleash the power of his incarnum, destroying his enemies. As a standard action, once per day, the Sapphire Blademaster may release all of the bonus essentia that he has acquired via Sapphire Blademaster abilities, even if they are currently invested into other abilities or souldmelds, and hit all opponents surrounding him. He may make a single attack roll, with a bonus to the attack roll equal to the number of bonus essentia that are expended. If it is higher than the armor class of any opponents within 10 feet of the Sapphire Blademaster, he hits them with his attack, and they take his normal weapon damage, plus his Strength modifier, and an additional 2d6 damage per bonus essentia expended.
