The Nest

The Nest is a converted hotel in the Red Zone. It currently houses Rael Kairos, a 300 year old vampire, a large number of strange lifeforms he's created, and a couple of dozen other vampires that he's made, including Karyana. All of those are mine. Beans controls Zwei, a stitchy undead deathknight. Technoscrabble is pretty much in control of the Tire Geal here, although technically they're my characters. Mindfreak has Jimmy, a crazy guy that Rael has turned into a vampire. Rotting Baron has Ashley, a half-elf illusionist.

The Nest also contains one of two permanent access points to K's Forest, the other being in Karyana's room in HALO.

This is exactly what the name says. Mainly notable because Ashley has taken up residence there.

It also contains the only known permanent access to Ashley's Dimension.

(Further description, if any is desired, is up to Rotting Baron, as I don't know how Ashley may have changed the roof since she started living there)

K's Forest

K's Forest is a formerly blank dimension that imprinted on Karyana. She then imprinted it on Zwei and Ashley.

Ashley's Dimension

Ashley recently received a blank dimension of her own. She set most of it to generate to only a few general guidelines, but the island she stays on is entirely of her design. The ocean is unnaturally blue, and the nights always have sufficient moonlight.

"That's good. I'd hate for you to think I didn't love you as much as I do." Ashley tries to softly kiss Zwei's cheek.

Nycca and the girl shrug.

Karyana also returns to eating, and says "So, Zwei, did I ever show you the places here other than the Forest?"

Talina stands and starts rummaging in one of her component pouches, saying "What's your name, anyway?"

She smiles and hugs her.

Ashley returns the hug. "I can't wait for the wedding."

Karyana also continues to eat.

"Would you like me to?"

Talina pulls out a tape measure, and extends her free hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Jen. I'm Talina, and this is Nycca."

She shakes the hand. Nycca pats her knee absently, still observing the feet.

Ashley blinks a few times. "I have no idea what I'll wear." She's a little sheepish about it.

Talina lifts the tape measure to her lips, and whispers in to it. Unless stopped, it will start measuring Jen's arms, then move on to her legs.

As it may be doing this, Talina tries to examine the girl's hand, to see what the growth rate is.

"Then if you're done eating, let's go. Paisley, do you want to come?"

[Beans]

[Motel]
It seems above normal, but not malignant.

[Forest]
Paisley nods as Zwei rubs Karyana's back.

I'm sure Karyana and I will find something pretty and easy to get you out of.

"Alright," Ashley responds with a bit of a sigh, "As long as it's not a dress."

[Lady Serpentine]

[Motel]

"Nycca, how fast are her feet growing?"

[Forest]

Karyana tries to lead them to the same branch that she showed Paisley earlier, happily returning Zwei's back rubbing.

[Beans]

She giggles.
Maybe a suit like mine, then.

Nycca's answer is the same as what Talina saw in the girl's hands.

The tape measure, apparently, can speak, as it just said the length of Jen's arms and legs. It will, unless stopped, then return to measuring them, and report any noticable changes in the results.

"So, which one do you want to go to?"

[Devixer]

"Or maybe some mage robes," Ashley says a little dreamily. "I've always wanted robes."

[Beans]

She nods, rubbing her back.

The results haven't really changed since the few minutes ago she last measured. She's still a bit lanky.

Ashley squirms a little as her back is rubbed, trying to give Zwei better access.

"Alright."

Karyana begins to open the window, and tries to pick Paisley up so that she can carry the ghost girl.

[Motel]

"So... The growth is confined to your hands and feet. That's weird, especially for something non-magical."

[Beans]

Zwei helps carry her, tickling the smaller girl.
Paisley squirms, giggling.

The leg muscles are subtly growing as well.

Ashley gives a small moan. "That's so nice, Zwei..."

They'll fly in over the city, most likely, probably aiming for a covered street with roof acess to it near the courtyard. Landing is likely next post, to give Zwei a chance to react.

"You're right... But as long as it doesn't cause problems, we probalby shouldn't worry too much, just try to find out what's causing it."

She pauses for a moment.

"Do you need a place to stay?"

She smiles, massaging her back and shoulders.

Karyana grins, and laughs happily, as they land on top of the jade cover.

Talina laughs a bit at Nycca's comment, and says "Then you can stay with us. Are you hungry?"

Ashley grins, and tries to roll over onto her stomach.

Jen's blush is oddly a bit mauve as she nods. Nycca giggles.

Talina starts walking towrd the kitchen area, saying "Then let's get you something to eat. Nycca, do you remember if we ever picked up more food?"

A small trapdoor opens a bit down the cover from them.

Ashley relaxes under the massage. "You're good at massages, love."

(Bleh, I was rushed because I'd forgotten to post for it, so I used the wrong tag when I edited it in.)

As does Karyana. The wide street is rather like a paved tunnel, but filled with dark green light, from the sun shining through the cover, and with various buildings forming the walls.

The vampire turns, and starts to head through a door on their left, the trapdoor closing behind them.

[Motel]

She nods.

"Alright."

Talina will pick out something good, that there's enough of for all of them to be able to eat it.

[Beans]

They follow after her.

They enter the courtyard containing the dragon fountain, in that case. Despite the fact that it's quite sunny outside, it's midnight here.

Talina returns the smile, and sets their dishes on the table.

Zwei is baffled by the day/night disconnect, but sees the fountain and is EXCITED.

The girl seems quite hungry.

Ashley turns her head to look at Zwei. "Anything you wanted?"

As usual, Karyana grins and lets Zwei take it in.

"So, are you going to be up to going anywhere after this? We should probably get you some clothes that actually fit."

Ally undeadtimes on the roof. Or in Ashley's Dimension. Or right in Karyana's grove if they want to tell her about the wedding. Wherever.

Ashley returns from what seems to be a trip to her dimension, to see the undeadtimed Ally. She smiles. "Hey there."

Ally is dressed and fidgeting around. She gets uncomfortable spending a lot of time in the same place. Hey, Ash...

[Halls]

Karyana is wandering The Nest, looking for Ally.

[Beans]

Ashley turns her head to look at Zwei. "Anything you wanted?"

As usual, Karyana grins and lets Zwei take it in.

[Motel]

"So, are you going to be up to going anywhere after this? We should probably get you some clothes that actually fit."

Ashley notices the fidgeting, and goes over to try and put a hand on her shoulder. "You alright?"

Ashley smiles. "I think I'll sketch something for you. I'm told I'm not that bad at it."

The thief relaxes a little at the mage's touch. Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about heading off soon.

[Devixer]

[Roof]

"...Oh." Ashley looks disappointed for a moment, but smiles. As she reaches into her bag of holding. "I'd meant to give you this a while ago," she says as she pulls out a folded piece of paper.

[FireFox]

[Roof]

A paranoid look of apprehension briefly flits across Ally's face, but then she smiles and unfolds it.

[Lady Serpentine]

[Desert]

Fortunately, everything is built to withstand quite a bit.

Karyana continues to grin widely, happy that Zwei likes it.

[Motel]

"What do you mean?"

[Devixer]

[Roof]

Ally will see a detailed sketch of herself, sitting at a counter. It's clear that the artist is very skilled.

"Do you like it?"

[FireFox]

[Roof]

Ally blushes. Is it... a dog? She's holding it upside down to buy time to figure out a reaction.

[Devixer]

[Roof]

Ashley looks appalled for a second. "Did I give you the wrong thing?"

[Beans]

Zwei grins.
Can't wait!

Zwei eventually stops running around and sits down on the cool floor.

No... She folds it back up and tucks it inside her vest. And then suddenly tries to hug Ashley. It's great.

Karyana tries to sit down next to Zwei, and rest her head on the ex-deathknight's shoulder.

[Motel]

"You're welcome to stay as long as you want. I just thought you might like some clothes that aren't too big for you."

[Devixer]

Ashley smiles. "If you'll let me head to my dimension in a few minutes, you won't have to wait for that long."

[Roof]

Ashley looks a little sad until Ally hugs her. She smiles, and rubs the redhead's back. "Aw, you really think so?"

[Roof]

Ally squeezes the other woman tightly. Yeah. It looks just like me.

[Beans]

Zwei smiles, putting an arm around Karyana.

Unless she's stopped, Ashley gets dressed and heads to her dimension to rejoin continuity.

Ashley widens her smile considerably. "Well, that's good. I was hoping my drawing would look like you."

It does. You're a very good artist, Ash. Ally tries to kiss her cheek and step back.

Zwei smiles, putting an arm around Karyana.

Apparently, Karyana is still here. Though I'd thought she'd spontaneously vanished at some point, or I'd have posted something when Ashley and Zwei curtained.

In any case, the vampire snuggles up to Zwei, smiling happily.

"Then, if you're up to it, let's get going."

She starts heading for the door.

Ashley blushes as her cheek is kissed. "Thanks, Ally." She pauses for a moment. "So, how soon did you want to leave?"

As Ashley leaves, Zwei snuggles up to her other fiancee.

Talina pauses long enough to let Nycca climb onto her back, if the fey wants to, and then resumes her course, likely leading them to Mallside once they leave the motel.

Ashley smiles. "You sure? You shouldn't stay any longer than you want to." She steps a little closer to Ally, suggesting that she would prefer if the thief stayed.

She grins.
I found out that Ashley's an artist. She never really mentioned it before...

Karyana smiles happily at Zwei, and tries to resst her head on the ex-deathknight's shoulder.

"I've always liked rooftops. This is my favorite, though." Ashley holds Ally by the waist as she sits in the mage's lap.

Karyana grins back.

"They do."

She pauses for a moment.

"We should let Carrie know that she can go, shouldn't we?"

Karyana will assist her in carrying Paisley through the door to the ghost girl's room.

Karyana, as her continuity is already shattered beyond repair, checks the roof at this point.

In that case, I suppose she's not. I just never saw her actually leave.

Karyana scans the area quickly.

"Nope. Doesn't look like she is. Nevermind."

Karyana also smiles, watching the ghost girl sleep.

She looks confused.

"She is."

"Hey, Ally. Hello, Ashley. It's going pretty well. There's something I wanted to talk to both of you about."

"Apparently, the Black Fox didn't try to kill you, or anything like that."

But... a tiger jumped on me. Who else but a crazy Druid would have a tiger in a camp full of kids? Ally looks confused.

[Devixer]

[Roof]

"It did seem suspicious, Karyana. But I suppose this is the Nexus; anything could happen." Ashley shrugs as she continues to hold Karyana.

[Beans]

Zwei decides to pick her up and whisk her off her feet, and tries to do just that.

[Roof]

"I don't know, Ally. But, he told me this in a truth zone, the effictiveness of which I verified, so..."

[Forest 2]

Karyana has no objections to this, and grins happily as she's whisked off her feet.

Zwei wanders the halls, carrying the vampire.

Ashley stands up, too, and reaches for Ally's hand. "Ally, I'm sure it was just a coincidence."

Karyana looks rather annoyed at her reaction.

"I ran into him at HALO, and yelled at him for trying to kill you, at which point he offered to confirm he hadn't in a truth zone."

Karyana snuggles close to Zwei, grinning.

Now she looks confused. Wait... HALO? I thought he was staying in GLoG, with that brunette mistress named Quinn?

Ashley looks confused as well, and stands back just a little to let Ally and Karyana talk.

"I don't know. I ran into him and his wife in HALO. I don't know anything about him staying in GLoG, nor did I know Quinn was his mistress."

Ally starts pacing. I knew he was up to something... In GLoG he just seems to be interested in raising his family there, so he must do all of his Evil stuff in HALO...

Ashley looks more confused now, but keeps silent.

Karyana starts to laugh.

"Ally, think about what you just said. If he's as smart as you say, why would he be doing Evil stuff in HALO? Isn't that sort of like, say, trying to run a charity from AMEN?"

When you were getting so chummy with him, did he happen to tell you about all of the Selinite villages he destroyed? Or how many Deities he has murdered? He is the greatest liar in the world. I shouldn't be surprised to hear that he's won you over to his side. Ally glares at the vampire.

Ashley bites her lip, looking a little conflicted. She backs up a few steps.

Karyana glares back, her eyes starting to go orange.

"I just pointed out that, considering you told me that he was smart enough to get around three to five deities at once, in their own realm, he probably wouldn't be stupid enough to mess with evil stuff in HALO. I said nothing about liking him, or anything similar."

The thief starts backing up away from Karyana, quickly approaching the edge of the roof. Fine. I'll just go find him and make him tell me what he's up to. My God asked me to investigate him, so he must be doing something bad.

Ashley sees this, and starts to cast a wall of force where Ally's backing up, and gives a glare to Karyana. "Can we calm down for a second?"

Karyana doesn't speak for a moment, her eyes changing back to purple.

"Look, Ally, doesn't investigation imply uncertainty? I'm not saying he isn't, but you're making assumptions that the evidence doesn't necessarily support.

Anyway, before we ended up getting so sidetracked, the main thing I wanted to tell you was that he offered to talk to us, and answer whatever questions you have."

Ally hits the wall of force and tries to step around it without turning her back on Karyana. It's a trap. He'll just kill me and anyone else who knows what he's up to. But I'm going to talk to him anyway. I just want to get this stupid job done with.

"If you feel that way, why not have the meeting be in Ashley's Dimension? I think you can trust her not to let him kill you, even if you won't trust me."

[Devixer]

[Roof]

Ashley decides to offer an alternate solution. "Let me come with you. I can get you out of there if things get bad."

[FireFox]

[Roof]

No! It's too dangerous. I'll go by myself. Having her and Tobias alone together is a really bad idea.
And now she's trying to take the express route of the roof! She has her magic cloak to keep her from falling to her death, but she hasn't told them about it, so they might get the wrong impression. :smalltongue:

As a matter of fact, Ashley does sense the magic in the cloak, but she can't guess what it actually does. Ally trying to jump off the roof gives her a hint or two, though.

"Ally, no!" And now Ashley is going to follow the thief off of the roof, casting a fly spell on herself.

Karyana does indeed get the wrong impression, and leaps after Ally, tryin to catch the theif, spreading her wings as she does.

Ally plummets towards the ground, laughing her head off in exhilaration. She dodges away from the other women and activates the flight magic at the last second to land safely. Wow. That was fun. I can see why you like having wings, Karyana.

Ashley just looks at the thief. "Ally, I'm not letting you go to the Black Fox alone, you'll get killed for sure."

[Ground]

Karyana waits, for the moment, rather confused by Ally.

The thief's grin fades. If you come with me, you'll get killed too. Wouldn't want you to miss your wedding for something like that. Then she starts sprinting towards HALO, but can easily be followed. Or even beat to the base, if they teleport.

Ashley doesn't follow Ally. Instead, she withdraws a few things from her bag of holding. "I'm going to HALO. Don't follow me," she says to Karyana.

[Ground]

"Fine. I won't follow you; I'll use the portal in my room."

At which her face goes blank for a moment, as she contacts Adrin.

[Ground]

Ashley shakes her head, just before teleporting to where she remembers HALO is.

((Deadtime.))

Since nothing happened to stop it, Karyana is pulled back through Shadow to her room, and pops through the portal to HALO.

Also, it should probably be noted that while everywhere is being gotten in the massage, the vampire is paying particular attention to anywhere that Zwei has proven to be especially sensitive.

Karyana grins, and continues for a bit longer, before trying to begin removing Zwei's clothing, as it's hampering her ability to massage the ex-deathknight properly.

When Karyana has finished stripping Zwei, setting her clothes neatly on thetable next to them as she does, the vampire will, unless stopped, return to the massage she was giving the ex-deathknight.

"So, what do you want us to do with the clothes you got here in, anyway?"

Karyana watches Zwei get dressed, and will then, unless something happens to prevent her from doing so, warp them both to the door of Paisley's room.

"You're welcome. And I'm glad you're still feeling alright."

She tries to lead them back to their room.

She opens the door; Paisley is still sleeping soundly.

"Not too much, usually. Wander around the city, go out to Mallside and pick up what we need. Mostly we've been hanging out here."

SHe smiles at them.

Talina goes to sit down on the bed.

"Hm. Nycca, d'you think we should take Jen with us next time, to meet everyone else?"

She giggles.

Talina motions for both of them to come over.

Talina smiles back at Jen, and tries to put an arm around the sickly girl, and pull her close.

She is pulled close, feeling a bit awkward.

Talina continues to stroke Nycca's wings, and reaches for the magically-warmed blanket with her other hand.

Ally appears here with her vampiric friend and starts to wake up.

Karyana smiles at her friend, and waits for her to wake up a bit more.

What... what the hell happened? Ally opens her eyes and looks around.

"You fell asleep. I think he did some sort of magic on you to make that happen. While you were out, we both checked you, and I can confirm that, if he did, that's all he did - you were completely clean of magical effects, and you had no chemical or physical weirdness going on."

Ally clearly is uncomfortable with the thought of being magicked by the Black Fox. But, surprisingly enough, she tries to hug the paladin. Why is everything so complicated?

Karyana returns the hug. It's probably fairly tight, but not enough to be uncomfortable.

"I don't know. But if you want, I can try to help you clarify things..."

Please. Ally holds on just as tight, desperately needing comfort right now.

Karyana tries to coccoon them both in her wings, in addition to the hug.

"Alright. What do you want to start with?"

"I don't know. I never knew him as anything other than what he is now, and I don't even really know him as that. And I think that he is good now."

Karyana, and, presumably, Dani arrive in a clearing, surrounded by dogwoods and cherry trees, all in full bloom. There are a few of them scattered throughout, pretty much perfect for sitting under. There are some willows, also flowering, next to a crystal clear spring on the right hand side of the clearing.

Dani is indeed accompanying Karyana, and she looks around in amazement!

"Wow. This place is so so cool!"

Paisley and Zwei are being lead around by everyone's favorite odd vampire girl.

The moor is beautiful, but in a desolate way, very unlike the other sections of Karyana's realm.

There are pools of water about, surrounded by black marsh-grass, and the sky is a deep blue. Two moons hang above them, shedding a cold, blue-white light on the scene.

Either of them might notice a pale hand beneath the surface of one of the pools.

Karyana and Tsiln have presumably arrived. If so, they're likely towards the top of the Tree, in a small, circular room.

Paisley sees the hand and bends down to look at it!

So where do we go now?

The hand belongs to a tall woman, with bone-white skin, floating under the water. She's wearing a blue dress, nad has shoulder length blond hair, tinged faintly with green.

"Anywhere you want."

The room is lined with windows, each showing a different part of the dimension. There's a building that appears to be made completely of dinosaur bones, the moor, the desert with the city, what appears to be a space station, and what looks like a castle made entirely of lava. In addition, there's a mirror that appears to lead to Karyana's room here.

Paisley goes to touch her hand, unafraid of things.

She runs to that window, excited.

Karyana shakes her head.

"Ally, considering the fact that your god has been using you as a pawn, and lying to you to do it, that's probably not the best idea."

The thief steps back and Scowls. Canignis has helped me out since I was a little girl. He's like the father I never had. He might lie to me, but he would never use me like that and if you don't shut up and nod in agreement I'll punch you in your cute face.
Although her words are definitely threatening, Ally isn't really angry with Karyana. Just giving her a friendly warning in her own... special way.

The hand is cold, as is the water. In fact, they seem to be the same temperature. The woman is unmoving when touched, and her eyes seem to be staring off into space through the clear water.

[Tsiln]

It overlooks the inside of a large building, with a vaulted ceiling. The supports for it are made of many ribs, with pillars formed from hundreds of vertebrae, and the floors, walls, and ceiling are skulls and the rest of the bones, laid out in intricate mosaics. They range in size from brontosaur to archaeopteryx, depending on what they need to do.

[Ally]

Karyana nods.

"Alright. I'm just worried about you, okay? Something has to have caused the disconnect."

[Beans]

[Moor]
Paisley giggles; Zwei looks on in confusion.

She tries to enter the dino world, totally stoked for this rad business.

"What's funny, Paisley?"

[Tsiln]

Tsiln will have no problems getting in, and should arrive on a balcony inside the building, with mid-size leg bones forming a railing, Karyana close behind.

She runs around looking at whatever she can in excitement.

Karyana looks very startled for a moment.


"What? Oh... It's probably one of the Nixies. If it is, she's just messing with you."

[Tsiln]

Karyana follows, grinning.

Tsiln will find that it's much like a museum, except that some of the skeletons, such as a small pterosaur, are animated, and that there are windows onto spaces containing live dinosaurs.

Speaking of which, said pterosaur skeleton tries to land on Tsiln's shoulder.

Cue excited squeeing and trying to pet it.

At this point, the pale woman sits up, and smiles at Paisley.

It rubs against her hand like a cat, apparently quite pleased with being petted.

She enjoys being able to pet it, giggling almost madly.

The Nixie waves back, and extends her hand.

"Hi. I'm Talia. You?"

Karyana watches her happily, grinning, pleased that Tsiln is enjoying this.

She shakes it.

After a while, she turns to grin at Karyana.

She smiles at the ghost girl.

"It's nice to meet you, too. What are you doing here, though? Karyana's the only one that ever comes out here, or at least the only one I've met."

Karyana grins back, and goes to hug the Execuloth.

Oh, she owns me now, so that's why I'm here.

Dani heads to the water's edge, where she kicks off her shoes and promptly goes to stick her feet in. :smalltongue:

"I'm glad you like it, Tsiln. I'd hate to have made this for you and have it not be something nice."

Karyana sits down next to her, boots disolving back into her feet, and starts to concentrate.

She blinks, then hugs her even more, bouncing and twirling the vampire girl around in glee.

Talia looks back at the vampire in a way that suggests that they're going to have a talk about this later.

Karyana returns the tightening of the hug, and seems quite happy to be twirled and bounced.

"You're welcome, Tsiln. And yes, I made this specifically for you."

[Beans]

[Moor]
Paisley smiles, oblivious to the look Karyana's getting.

Talia looks back at Paisley, and returns the smile.

"So, how long are you going to be able to stay for?"

"Of course I am. I'm your friend."

Karyana nods.

"As long as you want to."

Talia looks extremely confused by that statement. Hadn't Paisley just said Karyana owned her?

Karyana smiles and tries to rest her head on Tsiln's shoulder.

This place is nice!
I like bleak places. On a canoe trip in Canada I saw what was basically a granite field with some dips and rises; some had stagnant water, and some of the stagnant pools had given way to mini-bogs. I fell in love with that place immediately.

I agree; bleak places can be quite nice. And that specific one sounds like a very cool place.

Karyana is perfectly content to stand there with Tsiln for a while, but eventually says "So, do you want to head back, keep moving, or just stand here some more?"

Karyana makes no move to stop her, though if possible she'll remain being carried around by the Execuloth.

After a bit, they should get to the more zoo-like portion of the building, where they can see the live ones in massive enclosures, apparently bigger inside than they should be. And the sun and sky really probably wouldn't appear that realistic in an indoor enclosure, though the angle doesn't ever match that of the last one they saw.
