I don't remember much about the show. I saw like part of an episode freshman year of high school - so like 7 years ago to give you time frame of how long ago it was. So I'm pretty sure it was anime: it was in a similar style and I saw it in Anime Club so I'm like 80% sure its of the genre.

Basically, I only really remember like one scene. The anime itself was Medieval Fantasy. So, it's a group of adventures exploring like a dungeon or cave. Some deep underground location when they're attacked by gargoyles or some flying monster I think. So they run though this doorway and lock the door behind them to escape. There's like some treasure in the room and the elf girl in the party tries on a necklace I think. The party itself was that elf, a dwarf I think, and mostly humans (classes I can't remember, maybe the elf was a magic class though I could just be going under the notion most elves have magic powers as is common in fiction).

So yeah, not a lot to go on. If anyone out there was the slightest idea what I'm talking about and could point me in the right direction thanks.

Rune Soldier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rune_Soldier)?

Nah, I doubt it. No dwarf.

Record of Lodoss War (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Record_of_lodoss_war) is the only other likely one I can think of. But that one is 20 years old now...

OMG!!! I think that's it! Thank you so much! I just watched some clips of it, and oh boy, this thing looks cheesier that Krull. It should promise to be very entertaining!

Don't judge it before you see it. It's based on a D&D campaign the author had, after all.

And please consider it within the context of when it was made: the art style is not the modern anime art style, but that of the '80s; and for its time it was amazing.

The English voice acting is not good, however; I would recommend the Japanese.

Record of Lodoss War - a typical DND campaign from the point of view of the DM.

Slayers - a typical DND campaign from the point of view of the players.

Lodoss War was pretty epic... one if not the first 'advanced' anime (as in 'not for kids') I ever saw. Yeah, it is kind of cheesy at times but it's pretty well done especially considering it's age.
There's also the (actually prequel, iirc as iin 'the manga was earlier but the show is later') 'Chronicles of a Heroic Knight' spin-off which is much... less serious for the most part, or more geenric whatever but still worth a watch, I guess.
