Volos

As the thread title suggests, I was looking through my old campaign notes and I found a fully statted and mostly fluffed out deity. It was rather odd, as I can't remember doing so and none of the people I live with have the skills to make such a stat block. So without further delay, here is Volos the Moon Wolf. Tell me what you think.

VOLOS
The First Wolf, The Moon Wolf, The Silver Wolf, Father Moon
Greater Deity
Symbol: Crescent moon inside pentagram of stars
Home Plane: Darkath
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Portfolio: Moon, Night, Good, Wisdom, Nature
Worshipers: Elves, half-elves, humans, barbarians, rangers, rogues, hunters
Cleric Alignments: CG, NG, CN
Domains: Animal, Chaos, Darkness, Good
Favored Weapon: Bastard Sword

The deity of night, the very spirit of the moon, Volos usually appears as a calm wolf with silver fur and glowing white eyes with a pair of feathered wings made of pure silver moonlight. In his humaniod form he is a man with long flowing silver hair and piercing glowing white eyes with the symbol of the crecent moon inside a pentagram of stars as a glowing mark on his forhead. Volos's features are both gentle and powerful, a face of eternal youth and immortal wisdowm. He is clad in a cloak of darkness and stars and is apparently unarmed though the palms of his hands glow with sparks of light that will become his blessed blades within a moment's notice. Volos appears, in all forms, to be wise and well learned while still retaining the swiftness of youth and lithe build of a young man.
Volos is spoken of in many of the creation myths of the world, most notably the creation of the world of Herat. He is the protector of the natural world but bears no ill will to any who respect the woods and animals of the wild. His blessings extend from the depths of the forests and woods of the wild to the streets and buildings of the city. Xaphan, the deity and lord of undeath, is his nemesis. Volos and his avatars have been known to wage war against any massive uprising of undead.

Light of the Moon (unique salient divine ability): Volos gains a competence bonus on attack rolls, damage, and Armor Class equal to his divine rank if both Volos and his foe are illuminated by moonlight. This bonus applies on the night of the full moon regardless of whether Volos or the foe are illuminated by moonlight. When in the light of the moon, Volos can automatically know the location of any corporeal creature within an area of moonlight illumination or within 10 feet per divine rank by sensing the dim illumination of the moonlight even in areas of apparent shadow. A darkness spell or similar ability can block this ability as long as the creature would be in dim illumination without the aid of the darkness spell or ability.
Possessions: Volos carries Lebev and Kudek, both +10 Keen Brilliant Energy Everdancing Bastard Swords. They appear to be formed of pure moonlight and can be "drawn" as a free action. Volos treats Lebev and Kudek as light weapons regardless of their size. If combinded into a singular weapon, Lebev and Kudek form into a +10 Keen Brilliant Energy Compound Elven Double-Greatbow (+9 Str) with the Chaotic Power on Lebev's string and the Holy Power on Kudek's string. Volos can fire arrows from either string as he chooses. Lebev and Kudek functions as an Elven Double-Greatbow except that Volos can notch an arrow on the second string as a free action and can make a full attack action while shooting two arrows per attack.

Other Divine Powers
As a greater deity, Volos automatically receives the best possilbe result on any die roll he makes (including attack rolls, damage, checks, and saves). He is immortal.
Senses: Volos can see (using normal vision, low-light vision, darkvision or his enhanced sight), hear, touch, and smell at a distance of nineteen miles. As a standard action, he can perceive anything within nineteen miles of his worshipers, holy sites, objects, or any location where one of his titles or names was spoken in the last hour. Volos senses anything that is illuminated by moonlight via his five senses. His sight can penetrate 190 feet of any physical barrier or 1900 feet of a less tangible barrier (such as fog or smoke). He can extend his sense to up to twenty locations at once. He can block the sensing power of deities of his rank or lower at up to two remote locations at once for 19 hours.
Portfolio Sense: Volos senses anything that affects nature welfare nighteen weeks before it happens and retains the sensation for nineteen weeks after the event occures. He is similarly aware whenever nature spirits or animals engage in arts or crafts, cast spells, or make war.

This looks pretty good to me! The story behind it is a little creepy though! Was the statblock originally at least in your handwriting?

Domain Powers: Volos can use speak with animals nineteen times per day as a spell like ability. He casts Chaos spells at +1 caster level. Volos casts Good Spells at +1 caster level.

Why not make speak with animals at will? It's not a broken spell and nineteen times a day is so high that it might as well be at will.

teleport without error at will,

Where is this spell from?

Where is this spell from?
3.0, 3.5 renamed it Greater Teleport.

My notes are digital, but the writing style for the fluff is my own. Still it is very creepy how I can't remember doing it. Thank you for catching that error of mine, I should change it to Greater Teleport. As for the speaking to animals,

Domain Powers
A deity of rank 1 or higher can use any domain power it can grant a number of times per day equal to its divine rank (if the power normally can be used more often than that, the deity gets the greater number of uses). If a domain power is based on a cleric’s level (or one-half a cleric’s level), a deity with no cleric levels has an effective cleric level equal to the deity’s divine rank (or one-half the deity’s divine rank) for this purpose.

It is just another case of the 3.0 being confused with the 3.5 rules. I must have made this a long long time ago... or maybe it just appeared on my computer out of a need to be in my campaign setting. :smalleek: Correcting now.
