Right now, I have this (http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/630300main_pia15481c-43_946-710.jpg) up on my desktop (taken from this site (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/WISE/multimedia/pia15481.html)).

Couldn't find the picture I wanted to change to - it was a shot of all the women in my family (on my mother's side) - four generations of women - my grandmonther, my mother/aunt, my sister/cousins, my cousin's daughter. It's a great photo and I can't figure out what happened to it... but I also can't be bothered looking for it among my millions of photos... So I used this one (http://img.pederick.id.au/gallery/d/419-2/2.JPG) instead. Taken by me on the eve of my first day in Kaikoura - the start of the two and a half weeks I spent there doing fieldwork for my Masters. I was lonely and miserable and yet somehow the sheer prettiness of the picture (and the total fluke of the shot) made me feel better :smallsmile:

I have very specific tastes in wallpapers. It should be dark enough so that there's no glare, no vibrant colours that hurt my eyes, and not busy so that the icons get lost. So: dark or earthy colours, sense of depth optional, and not much happening in the background.

I cycle through Greg Martin (http://www.artofgregmartin.com/)'s spacescapes, the Ghosts wallpapers that came with Nine Inch Nails' Ghosts album (like this (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2091/2313023887_13091d75e4_o.jpg) one), and a series of photographs of Namibia's setting sun (stereotypically ridiculous red sky included).

I see a whole lot of Touhou, which is not, in fact, an anime, but rather a series of games about girls in frilly dresses and funny hats fighting each other with technicolor bullets and sheer smugness. It's a sidescrolling shooter like Gradius or Raiden, except notoriously difficult. I've heard it described as "TF2 for Japanese people" because it involves a monogendered cast that's fond of wearing hats who fight each other all the time for no real reason.

Also, that's a magnificent expression Garen is wearing.

Also, since I'm here, this is my background. It's something of an odd choice, because I'm absolutely terrible at RTS games and don't even own a computer capable of running SCII, but a friend of mine had a similar background for Terran, so I thought a Zerg background would look nice.

The Russian bit is actually a camera (Fotosnaiper FS-122 or something like that), and both images are apparently part of an original artbook by Yusuke Kozaki. So...no anime, unfortunately. =\

EDIT: Or, rather, I suppose I should say I can't find any evidence for it being from an anime. Looks like a lot of her work is kinda unknown...
