I'm working on some world-building, but I could also use this for a character. I need a pre-battle war chant for a monastic order of holy warriors known as the Sword Brethren, dedicated to a god of justice named Ashelon. The chant should describe why they are here (To protect the innocent by dispensing swift retribution to the wicked) and warn of their unyielding resolve. That is all I know for now, but if you need more information, I can write more.

you can't go wrong with any hammerfall song, i believe this works best for a morally just cause like your sword brethren blood bound (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkwgSL6kQk8) if this doesn't fit browse some more of their stuff, i mean, they're mascots a paladin with a large warhammer

Ashelon, God of Power and Law (insert any other two adjective that better describe the God here,)
Keeper of the Codes, and Judge of the Wicked and the Righteous
We consecrate to you our lives and our deaths.
Let our arms strike with the power of your Justice
Let our hearts rejoice that we may serve you.
We carry you into battle with us,
The Shield of the Righteous,
And the Terror of the Wicked.

With power in our hands and law on our side,
magic in our blood and faith in our hearts,
still the mind, steel your resolve,
GOOD FOR THE GOOD GOD!

I'll give it a try...

"Draw your swords (By the war leader)
To protect what's right (by the common troops)
Draw your swords
To fight away the night
Draw your swords
For Ashelon's glory
Draw your swords
And unleash our fury!

The Fear it will take us! (the battle herald/ singer cries this out)
Courage from Ashelon. (answer the troops)
they are many, more than us!
waves crashing before rocks of faith.
Their power, it's too great for us!
our discipline and will shall triumph.
How can we fight such evil?
By the blades of our minds, bodies and hearts.

The sword is drawn (everyone together)
The battle begins
Slash and thrust
Purgers of sins
Parry and block
Against evil and darkness
Stab true to your cause
We'll stand tall, strong and righteous.

Pray for Ashelon,
for we are his weapons of choice!
Draw the blood!" (this is said in a large yell)

hope it works. perhaps a tad long, don't know. might shorten it a bit if needed.

These are good, but I'd like one that has a good sense of rhythm to it. Also, perhaps a call and respond format? Feel free to stay creative; I may end up using more than one. Also, don't hesitate to use them yourself, if you see one you like.

Tempered as a blade is tempered,
We consecrate this ground with blood.

Chorus: Our Blood!

Resolved to serve Justice,
Our steel is our legacy.

Chorus: Our Steel!

We are the Sword Brethren,
Thralls and Thanes of Ashelon.
In His sight, ye have been found wicked,
In Our sight, ye have been Found.

Chorus: A Brotherhood of Steel! Bonded by Blood!

He who slays by the sword,
Shall be slain by the Sword.
My sword is the sword that Pierces the Night,
And rises the Red Dawn!

Chorus: Evil Unto Evil! Justice!

We are warriors, yes we are!
(We are warriors, yes we are!)
We are warriors, and we'll go far!
(We are warriors, and we'll go far!)
Hack and smash, slice and grab!
(Hack and smash, slice and grab!)
Loot and steal, slash and stab!
(Loot and steal, slash and stab!)
Bow down before us, suck my toe!
(Bow down before us, suck my toe!)
Or else your blood will surely flow!
(Or else your blood will surely flow!)
We are warriors, yes we are!
(We are warriors, yes we are!)
We are warriors, and you'll not get far!
(We are warriors, and you'll not get far!)

Interestingly enough, it doesn't actually rhyme in the original Orcish dialect.
