Because we all need an excuse to be positive sometimes.

This thread is for telling everyone the things that make you smile, laugh, jump around, or just make you feel slightly better about yourself when you're feeling down.

For example...

Today I am positive because in only a few hours, I'm going to see one of the best live bands ever, Skindred (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skindred). (listen to them here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-kmLkfFrtU), here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9iGt343wNA&ob=av2n) or even here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_RABv4OxG4)!)

So what are you feeling good about right now?

Probably because I got through another day of my course.

I'm flying out to Salt Lake City tomorrow for my first taste of Utah! Looking forward to sampling SLC's microbrews, as well as meeting up with some extremely good friends of mine from back in the day. I'll also get to meet my best friends' (apostrophe is correct, they're a couple) very teensy tiny new adopted daughter!

Also, today is my Friday! Woot!

Although this is the positivity thread, so I'd like to tell everyone about my love for (to pick a good beer almost at random) the amazing Jaipur by Thornbridge Brewery (http://www.thornbridgebrewery.co.uk/).

This summer is going to be SO GREAT.

First, get out of school and leave immediately for Europe to join a pair of beautiful ladies on a general adventure. Soon as that's done, fly to New York to work at the best summer camp, ever, upstate for about two months. Then a month or so's rest back at home (Berkeley) before heading back to college.

One thing I miss while living in a big city is that you can barely see the stars at night :smallannoyed:.

(But to be fair, prety much everything else about living in a big city is pretty much awesome . At least while at uni).

Depends if they've got chocolate bits in them :smalltongue: (or nut bits, or fruit bits, or general bitness, but not gravel. We don't eat gravel in biscuit form over here).

My class is taking a trip to the Dominican Republic but we'd been having trouble with fund raising and were about 2000 dollars short. Today we set up a raffle for a set of knitting needles made by one of my classmates parents. These needles usually go for about 140 bucks a set (a set has lots of sizes). Finding fellow ale drinkers is a positive for me! At the ale festival in Falmouth this year (near my Uni, I'm in second year) a barman recognised me as the ridiculously heavy drinker from the year before. Cue sea shanties and dancing. I love having a reputation.

The wife and I turned lemons into lemonade the other day when our tv went out. We survived boredom by rearranging the furniture in the house.

Then as soon as the shops opened the next day, we went shopping and returned triumphant! We are now dual-wielding twin big screen LED HDTVs so that we may system link our XBOX 360s to pair up and destroy countless hordes of zombies in Left 4 Dead 2. But that's not all! We picked up a bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and remote control for my Mac, so we could plug that bad boy into one of those monster tvs, and internet in style. We watched a Hulu-streamed movie on the big screen last night, using my twin Mackie speaker monitors for theater quality sound.

You can't see me... but I'm smilin' reeeeaalllll super big. Imagine this  but with not enough room to draw in the eyes.

My plan is almost complete. Toss in a new receiver, center speaker, 4 tweaters and a sub, and I'll be dancing on puffy clouds to the trumpets of angels.

My older brother was able to get Skyrim working on my computer without the whole machine crashing! The months of not being able to play it are over!

For my 21st this year I finally got a laptop capable of playing Empire: Total War . I've had that game for three years, it's brilliant being able to actually pay it at last :smallwink:.

I'm taking a break from my exile to celebrate finishing my first exam  (of six :smalleek:). I had a pint with dinner, so I'm feeling pretty merry (although fearing the chances of me finishing off my work for my next exam... 9.30 tomorrow morning.

Also, I bought new earphones, which are pretty cool, and am now listening to my favourite ever band for the first time in aaaaaaages. All is good.

I weighed in today at a full 51 pounds lighter than where I topped out a couple years ago, which means I am the lightest I've been since sometime in 2005, and am still slimming down. I don't have a target weight exactly, more of a target size which I'm still heading toward, but I am making progress and I'm happy for that.

I also got a job doing a bit of freelance writing for a company my friend works at. The pay isn't much but it helps and it gives me writing samples to point to for future work. Most of all, it gives me an opportunity to practice and improve my writing.

I have a lot to be positive about lately, so I thought I'd jot some of it down:

- Six months ago, I couldn't wear the ring I'm wearing because my finger was too fat. Now, I sometimes have trouble keeping it on, because my finger is getting thinner.
- Six months ago, I couldn't walk five blocks without experiencing serious levels of pain and discomfort. Today, I walked 4 miles, and did a workout in the gym. I'm sore, but I feel fantastic.
- Out of nowhere, somebody offered to buy my recently deceased car today, and their offer was approximately what I'd get for scrap value of the car. AND, I don't have to factor in a towing fee, because they'd be taking it themselves!
- I finally found out how to actually be positive, every day, without forcing it. The last week and a half has been chock full of genuinely beautiful days, and I've been able to say "Today was a good day" after every single one of them, without even trying to feel that way. I just do, and it feels amazing.

THIS IS MY KIND OF THREAD!

-Today I got to ride a swing-type amusement park ride. The ones that go in circles. I laughed wildly the whole time.

-I saw two great drama productions today.
And saw Ian McDiarmid (better known as Darth Sidious or Emperor Palpatine) nude onstage. Not full frontal, but totally saw the dark side of the dark side...

-I saw an adorable hipster couple today. And they were adorable.

-Today I rejoined the playground after too long of an absence.

Only one more exam for me and then I'll be finished for summer . That thought alone is keeping me going (and the thought of finally going to the pub again for the first time in weeks :smallwink:).

Let's see...positive things...

Friend who has been feeling rather down just found out she's in our school's Concert Choir next year. She has also started to eat again.
This Sunday, the music department is leaving for a four-day trip to Washington DC.
After said trip, I get to skip the other two days of that week to work on our upcoming show.
Next Friday, the last show of my high school carear, a stage adaption of Perks of Being A Wallflower opens. Admitedly, this one is bitter-sweet, but it's going to be a fantastic show.
I have less than two real weeks of school left thanks to this. Then I graduate from high school.

It probably helps that the guy I report to is a personal friend of mine who got me the opportunity with his company to begin with.

In further good news: I made some posts in the Relationship Woes thread a couple weeks back. While my situation is not yet resolved, things have taken a positive turn and I see encouraging signs. I'm not going to get into specifics but things are looking up for me and I'm very hopeful that it will work out in my favor in the end.

Provided there aren't a massive number of people getting in this year, then you should be fine with most universities. My year, most who had one grade above one grade below got into their top choice - one person didn't and was specifically told "We normally accept all those who have A*BC who needed ABB, but there were too many applicants".

So you should be fine.
