Tome editions of the Core books would be awesome, then again, im of the Opinion that the 3/3.5 core books have the best covers of any Hardcover book printed. (my inner marketer knows otherwise, but Glorious Tome vs later printings)

That's the term from the 'Arkham Horror'' boardgame. There is a doom track, when it is filled with tokens, The Old One awakens for a final battle.
Here it means, that if the DM sees how awesome the party's ship is too often, he is pissed of and sends the Eldar after them. And...well, it's really hard to deal with the Eldar ships

Holofields protect from direct impact, but not from the actual blast in RT and the BFG rules are ambiguous, as even touching the Nova Cannon template results in a hit, and the holofield places a template in contact with the base of the ship. Furthermore, the interaction between multiple holofields and the placement of templates was quite headache inducing

It's called a subtitle.

Not to be confused with subtitles as in, words appearing on the screen so anyone hard of hearing (or simply not fluent in the language in which the film was produced) in the audience know what the actors are saying.

Just for clarity, since not everyone knows who both of those characters are, that's basically "I'd rather see a yaoi fanfic comic where the pairing is the father of all tentacle monsters with the king of devils than see even another moment of that terrible show."

Btw, (and I hope this saves a few people from watching by being enough info) it's a show on Nickelodeon about several kids who have to deal with the fact their favorite MMO is invading reality at a trickle, if I understand correctly.

It is a horrifying and unsettling glimpse into the American mental healthcare system, thinly veiled under faux-gamer jargon. I recommend it beside similar classics such as Eraserhead, Requiem for a Dream, and Salo: The Last 120 Days of Sodom.

Btw, (and I hope this saves a few people from watching by being enough info) it's a show on Nickelodeon about several kids who have to deal with the fact their favorite MMO is invading reality at a trickle, if I understand correctly.

Pretty sure that the methods by which Link acquires his masks are far more reminiscent of the "take a person's identity up after death" thing of Heart's Blood than of letting the power of cthulhoid inhuman monsters from beyond spacetime mutate him. Amusingly, Link's Wolf form is more Shintai-ish than his transformations in Majora's Mask.

Though really, Zelda works on completely different premises from Exalted in many ways (any game where the Master Sword exists and is what it is in Zelda is clearly not Exalted), so, you know, just do whatever, really :smalltongue:.

It's not a double standard: it's different situations meriting different response(in melee combat you're likely to get hit, thus you need protection, nevermind the problem of tumbling on rough ground without clothes or the like. Wizards do not have those issues as primary ones.). The arguments he made were very, very, very, very large strawmen, though.

Don't really know. It's just that I do. Maybe it has something to do with women in sexy armor being such a niche it's hard to find anywhere else :smallbiggrin: Besides, I've always found half dressed women more sexy, in a way, than fully undressed. Imagination works that way for me. And look at those armor and tell it doesn't look like sexy lingerie, only made of steel or some other metal. You probably can't. Can't help myself but find it alluring.

More often than not, those who argue in the shape of trying to impose are also bringing gender equality into the argument. At least in the cases I've seen, which may not actually reflect the general tendencies.

Exactly as the fighters are expected to be protecting themselves with items enchanted with their same spells. After the starting levels, at least. I don't have P&P experience, but some NWN PWs, I've never seen any char beyond level 1 without items with pluses to armor and others; I imagine P&P isn't any different (except how much bonus can be found at each level).

We remember magic if he's a mage, let's not forget when it's a fighter with a necklace of armor +3, boots of dodge +4, the mage armor given by his or her wizard companion etc, when it's that point, everyone can go into battle naked. As long they keep the bracers, necklaces and rings and the wizard's magic just like the wizard. Adding the training to evade melee attacks which the wizard lacks.

But what?. Each one dress up his character whatever the hell he or she wants.

You like skimpy? Make your chars skimpy. Want realistic armor? Use realistic armor.

When I design the armors for my PCs in NWN I do both. When my char lacks strong equipment, the armor is realistic, thick looking plates and such; as my char gets stronger items and sets of armor with more and more enchantments, I start making designs that look less heavy and with time even somewhat skimpy to reflect the power of the enchantments has become the main source of protection over the plain material defenses.

Think it was Sir Walter Scott who propagated the myth in Ivanhoe, if I remember right. Pretty well all knights could mount unassisted. Goes along with the old myth that swords weighed ten pounds. Oakeshott's Typology records the stereotypical Type XII long sword as weighing at 3 pounds maximum. On that point, if that point alone, D&D is surprisingly accurate: when you compare the weights given to mundane gear, armour and weapons from the period, it's more or less right.

That's not Kensai. The power level of the setting is very high, only one arm's enchanted, and the arm has gained a unique look. It's obviously One Hand Fury.

Yes I understand that the setting is very high powered, also it seems a part of the setting that the activation of any magical item or (Su) power is accompanied by a visual transformation. He spent his entire WBL getting only one arm enchanted and then later on when he had the opportunity to match it he got his other arm enchanted. With a completely different set of abilities. Who says two-weapon fighting can't be applied to unarmed strike. :)

Incidently I am not trying to derail the thread, nor start an argument, its just my opinion of how I would adjudicate it in my own game if someone wanted to do that, and I think its funny.

Where the PC's best friends are monsters like that, just depends on how the character is played. I have a PC who has been turned into a cat fueled by the magics of Silent Hill

There's a difference between PC and Villain? That has never happened in any of my games. Sure they claim to be good, then they end up wiping entire villages off the world map. That's why I always end up making the BBEG either a mastermind or a cleric of a lawful neutral god.

Not really a webcomic per se, it's from Gaia Online; it's a website intended to host a big bunch of forums, and you play dress-up with your avatar, but it also has storylines and games and other not-very-serious stuff.
This pic is from a storyline that's at least 5 years old.

Pretty sure the proportions are not normal human.Of course they aren't. She's a gnome, not a human. She stands only ~3 heads tall, instead of the 7 humans tend to stand at. They have Chibi Proportions (At least in that universe)

However, I am seeing a problem in that her torso has an extention where it really shouldn't have one.

She looks like a sweaty mucus-glob with ears the size and shape of bananas. And there's no possible explanation for what's wrong with her hair (maybe she gelled it like that? But why would she die it blood-red?). Her outfit screams "attention whore" and a stiff breeze would show you basically everything (not that I'd want to see that, mind you).

So yeah, ugly and vaguely creepy.
