Author's Note:
Before I subject myself to a page and a half of comments decrying this entire class, I will say this: this class is not for every campaign. You would need to discuss your awesome testosterone-driven playstyle with the DM beforehand so that he understands the party will have to get its primary loot from something other than fights. Shouldn't be too hard, I have never really looted anything worth keeping from an enemy anyway, but with how much I see people complain about Sundering on this site, it's like every other game has enemies who walk around in +3 full plate, dual-wielding +2 keen scimitars when the party is level 7 or something. Anyway, the point is, if this class is used in a game, you're not going to get any loot from combat, and hopefully you will be playing with a DM who can understand that.

The Avatar of Destruction

"Super awesome!"- Platinum the Trinity, an Avatar of Destruction

The Avatar of Destruction is a warrior who revels in demolishing objects and creating chaos. Most avatars of destruction receive a physical reaction from destruction. Usually this comes in the form of two distinct "rushes", one that is completely auditory from hearing the delicious crunching and shattering of a broken object, and the visual rush that comes from watching her enemy's expression as its precious weapons or armor are rendered useless with a single swing.

Role: The avatar of destruction's primary role is single-target threat removal. Unlike most characters, an avatar of destruction is actually relatively skilled at removing the threat a creature poses without killing it, as the majority of humanoid creatures are of little threat when they have been disarmed, and even monsters sometimes rely on powerful magical items to protect themselves or harm others. Not that the avatar of destruction is particularly keen on taking prisoners. Avatars of destruction are also rather useful for getting into locked chests. Or locked rooms. Or really, anywhere you need to go when all that blocks your path is a solid object.

Alignment: Devotion to destruction and the madness and confusion that results in it takes a very particular kind of person. Avatars of destruction are never restricted by the bonds of morality, and on the ethical axis, they will never bow to the will of those in authority. The avatar of destruction must be chaotic neutral.

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
HD: d12
Class Skills: The avatar of destruction's class skills are Appraise, Climb, Craft, Disable Device, Intimidate, Jump, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Architecture and Engineering), Open Lock, Perform (Percussion), Profession (Demolitions), and Swim.
Skill Points: 4+Int per level

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An avatar of destruction is proficient with all melee bludgeoning weapons (including exotic melee bludgeoning weapons and unarmed strikes). She is not proficient with any armor or shields.

Aura of Chance (Su): An avatar of destruction doesn't wear armor, and instead prefers to leave whether she gets hit or not up to fate. As she grows more powerful, her aura becomes stronger, and luck grows more and more towards her side. While an avatar of destruction is unarmored, she receives a deflection bonus to her AC equal to her class level. This bonus is immediately lost if she has an armor bonus of any kind to her AC (from armor, or from spells like mage armor, or from items that grant an armor bonus like bracers of armor).

This aura is also chaotic in nature, and functions as if the avatar of destruction was a cleric of a chaotic neutral deity with a cleric level equal to her class level (see the detect chaos spell).

Basics of Destruction (Ex): An avatar of destruction learns the basic tools of her trade (which is smashing things to pieces). She receives the Improved Sunder feat as a bonus feat, even if she does not meet the prerequisites.

Additionally, the more an avatar of destruction enjoys herself, the stronger her blows are. The full force of her personality goes behind every swing, allowing her to smash objects aside as if they were nothing. An avatar of destruction adds her Charisma modifier (if positive) to all damage rolls she makes during Sunder attempts, as well as all damage rolls she makes against unattended objects.

Maneuvers: An avatar of destruction is a master of the Bloody Hammer (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230373) discipline. The avatar of destruction automatically knows all Bloody Hammer maneuvers and stances, but she may not initiate any maneuver or stance unless she has the minimum initiator level required to learn that maneuver or stance (1st for 1st level maneuvers, 3rd for 2nd level, 5th for 3rd level, etc).

The avatar of destruction automatically recovers one expended maneuver, chosen at random, whenever she successfully Sunders an object.

The avatar of destruction may spend a full-round action contemplating the destruction she has unleashed and how it has affected those who were in her way. This provokes an attack of opportunity. She may not initiate any maneuvers or change her stance during this round. If she performs this action, she recovers one chosen expended maneuver, and the deflection bonus from her Aura of Chance increases by an amount equal to the level of the maneuver she recovered for 1 round.

Oath of the Avatar: An avatar of destruction must swear an oath to herself. She must dedicate her life to destruction and madness, the epitome of "Chaotic Stupid". To this end, the avatar of destruction swears to never use a piercing weapon, as they are useless for destruction and do not serve her purpose in any way. (Weapons that are both bludgeoning/slashing and piercing, such as the morningstar, are fine. If the weapon has bludgeoning/slashing or piercing, such as the dagger, the avatar of destruction breaks her vow if she ever chooses to use the weapon in a way that pierces instead of slashing or breaking.)

If the avatar of destruction ever breaks this vow, or if she ever changes her alignment to anything other than chaotic neutral, the avatar of destruction loses her Aura of Chance, as well as her ability to initiate Bloody Hammer maneuvers and stances. She may recover both of these if she receives atonement and changes back to her correct alignment. (If she voluntarily used a piercing weapon, she must Sunder that weapon and then receive atonement. If the weapon was destroyed, lost, or is otherwise unavailable to her, she must instead voluntarily break one of her own fingers with a bludgeoning weapon, which requires no check, but inflicts a -1 penalty to all attack rolls, damage rolls, and skill checks made using that hand for 1 month while it heals. Having it magically repaired breaks her oath).

The Power of Rock (Ex): An avatar of destruction is truly a being of chaos. And chaotic people can sometimes do stupid and random things when they should be serious, just because they want to mix things up a bit.

Starting at 2nd level, an avatar of destruction may attempt to play a kick-ass drum solo and use that to inspire her allies or draw attention to herself. If the avatar of destruction does not have a drum or sticks, she may use a bludgeoning weapon and a creature's bones instead.

This ability is very similar to bardic music, except that it requires a DM with a sense of humor and can be used at-will. As a standard action, an avatar of destruction with at least 5 ranks in the Perform (Percussion) skill can make a Perform (Percussion) check to produce one of the following effects:

Fascinate- This requires an actual drum and sticks, but when the avatar of destruction begins performing, all creatures within 60 feet who can hear her must make a Will save (DC equal to her Perform (Percussion) check, but with a minimum DC of 12) or be fascinated for as long as the avatar of destruction performs. A creature who is threatened while fascinated receives a second save with a +4 bonus to try and break the effect, while damaging a fascinated creature immediately ends the effect.

At the end of the avatar of destruction's performance, if she performed for over one full uninterrupted minute, she may make a second Perform (Percussion) check with a +5 bonus, and then be compensated as if she was using the Perform skill to earn money.

Inspire Awesomeness- To inspire awesomeness, an avatar of destruction must be engaged in a combat situation. She may either play a drum, or may attempt to use a bludgeoning weapon to play a beat on a creature.

If she chooses the second option, she makes a melee touch attack, and if successful, she makes a Perform (Percussion) check with a -4 penalty. The DC is 10. If she succeeds, then the ability works as if she was playing an actual drum, and the creature takes damage equal to 1 1/2 times her Strength modifier. If she misses with her melee touch attack, she provokes an attack of opportunity from the creature she attacked (but not other creatures who threaten her). If she fails the Perform (Percussion) check, she does not damage the creature, does not receive the benefits of Inspire Awesomeness, and may not attempt to Inspire Awesomeness again for the rest of the encounter. The avatar of destruction may only attempt to Inspire Awesomeness using a creature if that creature has a skeletal structure. If she attempts to Inspire Awesomeness on a creature without a skeletal structure, it still takes damage, but produces no other effect, and her use for the encounter is not wasted.

When an avatar of destruction uses Inspire Awesomeness, all of her allies get a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and damage rolls for 1 round per rank she has in Perform (Percussion). This bonus increases to +2 at 4th level, and by an additional +1 every 4 levels afterwards, to a maximum of +6 at 20th level. An avatar of destruction may only attempt to Inspire Awesomeness once per encounter.

Sunder Armor (Ex): An avatar of destruction does not allow foolish "balancing rules" published by Wizards of the Coast to stop her onslaught. Starting at 3rd level, the avatar of destruction may make Sunder attempts against worn armor as if it were a weapon or a shield. Even if she does not break the armor in one hit, the armor becomes damaged to the point where it can no longer protect a creature properly. For every 5 points of damage a piece of armor has taken from the avatar of destruction, it provides 1 less point of armor bonus (to a minimum of +0). This effect applies to the enhancement bonus provided by magic armor as well (so a suit of +5 full plate that had taken 45 points of damage would only grant a +4 armor bonus to AC, instead of +13).

This condition is referred to as the "broken" condition. No spell or psionic power exists to restore an item that was broken to its true state (not even a wish or miracle spell can accomplish this). The only way to repair armor that has been broken is to suck it up and spend at least 8 hours of time fixing it. It requires an appropriate Craft check (armorsmithing, blacksmithing, etc), DC 10+total damage dealt to the armor.

If the armor's hit points reach 0, it is destroyed and cannot be repaired (similarly to a weapon that was destroyed in a Sunder).

Marauder's Favored Enemy (Ex): An avatar of destruction is a master of combat against one type of foe: constructs. When the avatar of destruction hears that she's going to fight a group of inevitables, her heart skips a beat and her shrieks of sadistic glee can be heard throughout the entire plane.

Unlike the ranger ability of the same name, the avatar of destruction's Favored Enemy bonus only applies to weapon damage rolls she makes against constructs. It starts at +6 at level 4, and then increases by an additional +6 at every 4 levels thereafter, to a maximum of +30 damage at level 20.

Demolitions Specialist (Ex): As an avatar of destruction advances in her class, her skill with breaking things improves. Starting at 5th level, the avatar of destruction's melee attacks with bludgeoning and slashing weapons ignore up to 20 points of hardness. If the avatar of destruction is wielding an adamantine slashing or bludgeoning weapon, her melee attacks ignore all hardness instead.

Combat Brute (Ex): An avatar of destruction doesn't mess around. When she smashes an item to pieces, she takes advantage and presses the attack. A 6th level avatar of destruction receives the Combat Brute feat (Complete Warrior) as a bonus feat. She need not meet the prerequisites.

Sunder Natural Armor (Ex): An avatar of destruction is able to smash and shatter thick skin and strong bones just as easily as if it were armor. Starting at level 7, an avatar of destruction may attempt to Sunder a creature's natural armor. She makes a Sunder attempt. The creature treats the hardness of its natural armor as if it were equal to twice the creature's HD (so the natural armor for a creature with 20 HD would have 40 hardness).

An avatar of destruction cannot actually destroy a creature's natural armor, and thus natural armor has no hit points. For every 5 points of damage an avatar of destruction deals to a creature's natural armor, it's total natural armor bonus to AC decreases by 1, to a minimum of +0. The creature's natural armor will restore itself after 8 hours of uninterrupted rest, or if the creature is subject to a regeneration or regrowth spell.

Wolf Pack Sundering (Ex): An avatar of destruction's teammates can take advantage of a creature's surprise after the avatar of destruction smashes all their gear with a hammer. Starting at level 8, whenever the avatar of destruction successfully Sunders an item that was held or worn by a creature, that creature provokes an attack of opportunity from all creatures who threaten it (except the avatar of destruction).

Deadly Concussion (Ex): The avatar of destruction's powerful swings not only crush her opponent's armor, they crush the bones beneath it. At 9th level, the avatar of destruction receives the Deadly Concussion feat (Dragon 333) as a bonus feat. She need not meet the prerequisites. The feat also applies for her when she Sunders weapons (rather than only when she Sunders armor or shields).

Demolitions Expert (Ex): Starting at 10th level, the avatar of destruction's melee attacks with slashing and bludgeoning weapons are treated as adamantine for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. Additionally, her melee attacks with slashing and bludgeoning weapons now ignore all hardness of objects and creatures, regardless of the material of her weapon.

Sunder Spells (Ex): An avatar of destruction's raw chaotic power lets her lash out and destroy ongoing spell effects as if they were objects. As a standard action, an avatar of destruction may attempt to Sunder an ongoing spell effect that she can see (such as a wall of fire) or simply attempt to Sunder any magical effects that might be affecting a creature within her reach (such as a mage armor effect on a wizard). She makes a Sunder attempt (AC for a wall of fire or similar effect is equal to 10+1/2 the caster level of the effect). If she is successful, she deals damage to the effect. Spell effects have hit points equal to twice the sum of the caster level of the spell and the spell's level (Metamagic does not increase the spell's level for this purpose, a Persisted divine power is still treated as a 4th level spell).

The avatar of destruction deals double damage to all spell effects with the [Lawful] descriptor (such as lawful sword).

If the avatar of destruction reduces a spell's hit points to 0 with a Sunder attempt, the effect is dispelled. If the spell effect still has hit points remaining, there is no effect, though the damage on the spell effect remains until the spell ends, and there is no way to remove that damage (so the avatar of destruction might Sunder it the next round by dealing additional damage to it).

An avatar of destruction may only attempt to Sunder an illusionary figment effect if she has successfully Disbelieved it.

An avatar of destruction may not attempt to Sunder a spell effect from the Conjuration school unless it is of the (creation) subschool.

Breath of Destruction (Su): An avatar of destruction lives, eats, sleeps, and even breathes chaos. Literally. Starting at 13th level, the avatar of destruction gains a breath weapon. This breath weapon functions like the disintegrate spell, with a caster level equal to the avatar of destruction's character level. It affects all creatures within a 30 foot cone. The save DC for this effect is 10+1/2 the avatar of destruction's class level+his Charisma modifier. Creatures with the [Lawful] subtype or who have a lawful alignment component take a -2 penalty to their saving throws against this breath weapon. Once the avatar of destruction has used his Breath of Destruction, he must wait one minute before he uses it again.

Demolitions Master (Ex): A high-level avatar of destruction mercilessly removes all weapons and armor in her path. Beginning at 14th level, the avatar of destruction deals triple damage with her melee attacks with slashing or bludgeoning weapons against objects and crystalline creatures.

Sunder Force (Sp): A powerful avatar of destruction does not fear the legendary tenacity of force. Starting at 15th level, when the avatar of destruction uses her Sunder Spells ability against a spell effect with the [force] descriptor, instead of rolling for damage, she may elect to cast disintegrate, as the spell, as a spell-like ability targeting the force effect, with a caster level equal to her class level. Instead of a ranged touch attack, she must succeed on a Sunder attack roll. The spell does not get to save against the disintegrate, it fails it automatically and is obliterated.

An avatar of destruction may use Sunder Force up to three times per day.

Ferocious Hammer (Ex): At level 17, the avatar of destruction has finally mastered the Bloody Hammer discipline. She gains certain powers while she uses the strength of her trade.

While the avatar of destruction is in a Bloody Hammer stance, she deals an additional +2d6 points of damage with all her melee attacks. This damage increases to +2d8 if she is wielding a bludgeoning weapon, or +2d10 if she is wielding a bludgeoning weapon in both hands.

When the avatar of destruction affects herself with a boost from the Bloody Hammer discipline, her class level is treated as if it were 5 higher than it is for the purposes of her Aura of Chance ability. This effect lasts for 1 round.

When the avatar of destruction successfully hits and damages an enemy with a Bloody Hammer strike, her opponent must make a Will saving throw (DC 10+1/2 her initiator level+her Strength modifier) or be shaken for 1 hour. An opponent who has had a held or worn item Sundered by the avatar of destruction within the last minute takes a -4 penalty to its saving throw against this effect.

Bloody Frenzy (Ex): The avatar of destruction's glee when she kills a creature sends her into a crazed bloodlust frenzy of carnage and destruction. Starting at 18th level, whenever an avatar of destruction deals enough lethal damage with a melee attack to reduce a creature to -10 or fewer hit points, she becomes thirsty for more blood and starts to rampage.

While the avatar of destruction is rampaging, she may only use her actions to do the following things:
Standard: Attempt a Sunder attack, Initiate a Bloody Hammer strike, use a normal melee attack
Move: Draw a weapon, move her speed
Full: Deliver a full attack against an enemy (she is allowed to mix Sunders in there if she wishes), charge an enemy.

There is no restriction on how the avatar of destruction uses her free and swift actions while rampaging.

While the avatar of destruction is rampaging, she will target the foe she feels is the strongest and best challenge for her, and will do her best to slaughter it as quickly as possible. For the duration of her rampage, the avatar of destruction receives a bonus to her attack rolls equal to 1/4 her class level, and a bonus to her damage rolls equal to 1/2 her class level.

The avatar of destruction's rampage ends when she kills another creature, and her bloodlust is finally sated. If the avatar of destruction has no enemies left to fight, she does not enter a rampage. The avatar of destruction may choose not to enter a rampage when she kills a creature.

Break for Me! (Sp): A 19th level avatar of destruction's very presence can unmake items and cause magic to shatter. She gains the ability to cast mage's disjunction, as the spell, as a spell-like ability at-will, with a caster level equal to her character level. The DC for the saving throw is equal to 19+her Charisma modifier. Any magic item that would be turned into a normal item by her spell-like ability is destroyed as soon as it does so, as if affected by the shatter spell, with no saving throw (complete with the loud ringing noise). An avatar of destruction suffers no penalty or consequence for destroying an artifact with her spell-like ability, and she has double the normal chance of succeeding when attempting to destroy an artifact (2% per caster level).

Avatar of Chaos (Su): At level 20, the powers of chaos in the universe embrace the avatar of destruction and transform her into a true avatar. The avatar of destruction's melee attacks are always treated as chaotic-aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. Her total hit dice are treated as twice what they actually are for the purposes of the detect chaos spell (so if a level 20 lawful cleric detects chaos and the avatar of destruction is within range, the cleric is stunned and the effect ends). She gains DR 15/Lawful, and her Aura of Chance now grants her a continuous 35% miss chance while she is unarmored. All outsiders with the [chaotic] subtype have a starting attitude towards the avatar of destruction of "helpful", even if they would be hostile towards her allies. Finally, the DC for using the Diplomacy skill to improve the attitude of an outsider with the [chaotic] from helpful to fanatical is halved for the avatar of destruction.

Crap, I have to go to work. Well, I'll leave this unfinished for now, will fix it when I get home! (No dead levels in the full class, I promise)

Well, I added in quite a few fun class features, but now I've hit a bit of a wall...Any suggestions for cool class features to fill in the dead levels? And a sweet capstone, I need one of those too.

I saw Dragonforce. Then I saw NeoSeraphi. Oh joy.

I must say this is a very nice class. I don't play martial classes often so I shall the balancing aspect of it up to someone else, but have you considered an ability that lets the player manifest the pure destruction inherit in the universe? Dragonforce. A disintegrating breath weapon seems to fit the description does it not?

As incredibly awesome as that is, the class itself has nothing to do with dragons. Now, the avatar of destruction does get a disintegrate effect, in Sunder Force, but I do feel a breath weapon would be out of place.

However, if other PEACHers agree with you, I will probably change my mind.

I'm glad you like the class though.

This class looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait too see it's levels all filled out. I don't know much about the power level that disciplines are supposed to be. I throw in my vote with the breath weapon. It would be awesome with this class. "I'm so in tune with destruction that I eat live and breath it.

Argh! Why, Dragonforce? Why must you make me toss out all rhyme and reason for the sake of being freakishly awesome?! Okay, I'll put it in.

Okay, 2nd level is not a good place for a dead level, so I thought of something to fill it in (still thinking on the others). What do you guys think?

Cool, but only just this side of pointless.
So, perfect for the class I reckon.

I think being able to use the "strength surge" (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian/rage-powers/paizo---rage-powers/strength-surge-ex)ability several times per day (equal to strength mod?) might be good to fill that spot: it’s still useful for the avatar's purposes without being too overpowered. Also, expand it to strength-based skill checks.

What I'm mostly concerned about is the empty levels at the back of the progression, but seeing as it's a manuver class, I'm not sure...

...Adding up to +20 to a Trip or Bull Rush check a few times per day? No, that's definitely overpowered. Combat maneuvers scale terribly in 3.5, Trip checks generally cap out around +12 at high levels, same with Overrun and the like. The only reason it's not that bad in PF is because you can only do it once per rage and because combat maneuvers in PF got streamlined to the point where every maneuver had around the same attack bonus. See, in 3.5, you add your BAB to certain combat maneuvers, while you don't add it to others. So if I did this, then the avatar of destruction would be able to add her BAB twice to her grapple checks, effectively, giving her an automatic +40 grapple at level 20, plus her Strength modifier and another +4 if she took Improved Grapple. +44+Str? That's around as high as an Ancient (Huge, 31 Hit Dice) black dragon's grapple modifier.

It's impressive, but it's definitely overpowered. That's getting into Herculean territory, which melee fighters in 3.5 don't get to do.

What I'm mostly concerned about is the empty levels at the back of the progression, but seeing as it's a manuver class, I'm not sure...

I am concerned as well. The class isn't finished yet. I'm still thinking of how to fill all those levels in.

Alright, there we go! I've filled in every dead level and added a nice capstone. The class is complete.
